[Q] Stock Google Apps - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but is it at all possible for me to get some of the stock apps from vanilla android onto my S4 without flashing a new ROM? Things like messaging and contacts and the like. Just looking to get a stock feel without necessarily needing to flash a whole new rom and then go through the trial phase and then restoring all my apps.

Will this overwrite the current TW apps, or will I have to freeze and/or remove them?

You can keep both i believe

[Q] Flashed Adam's Revision 3

there are no custom roms in the sense other phones currently have. right now each flash is basically it's own version of the OS and overwrites what was previously there.
so potentially is there a way to move files from bean's rom the asop theme to Adam's package?

No easy way, you're better off just flashing back to Beans build.

Once we have the bootloader unlocked (I read there is an announcement tomorrow regarding it) we will be able to backup and restore prior ROM's and builds etc. That will make life far more interesting.
There's really no reason to run Adam's unless you are needing the utilities that are included.

I'd give out a shot if I were you. I flashed beans over stock and it kept all my son's and apps. I'm guessing that's what your going for

Your apps stayed because you didn't 'wipe' data while flashing. This is known as a 'dirty' flash. For simple ROMS that are mostly stock it's usually not a problem.
As ROMS become more customized dirty flashing starts to cause problems, especially when going to different versions. You end up with FCs.

[Q] How to deodex?

Well, I'm on rooted stock, and I want to be able to install the original task switcher instead of using the HTC one as well as other things that involve being deodexed. So my question is how do I deodex? Is it easier for me to just go ahead and install a stock, deodexed ROM or is there a flashable zip that does it for me?
I'm not sure where to go from here on this since I was using a Galaxy Nexus and didn't have to really worry about this stuff since I could just easily flash a package or get a new ROM without having to worry about really anything at all.
Thanks!
Anything?

Thanks for that, but the thing is, I currently can't backup/restore everything. I was just wondering if there's a flashable zip to take care of it.
Say I do flash that ROM over top of my current stock rooted ROM, what will happen? Anything dreadful?

Google apps flashing problem PLS HELP!

Hello everyone
I am using the sirrah kernel for dual boot, the first room is the stock touchwiz while the other is the stock android, since the room had no Google apps, I tried to flash the Google apps on the cyanogen, but I ended up flashing it on touchwiz, so now my Google apps on the touchwiz is crashing, I tried recovering them using titanium backup but it wont fix the problem. How do I solve this problem? Is there a way to unflash those Google apps?

Siyah kernel dual boot isn't worth the hassle in my opinion.
Restore your TW rom from a back up! If you made one, if not. Lesson to be learnt there!
All else failing, flash a stock rom via odin and start all over again!

Thanks for the advice!!! But is it possible to flash a google apps dump file for touchwiz onto the touchwiz rom to fix this problem???
no. you need to restore the backup or factory reset.

Can I use safestrap for this?

I rooted and unlocked on mdk then installed a stock me7 rom only.
I like cm waaaay better than tw but still use tw Roms because I use the mhl and other Samsung specific things often.
Could I use safestrap to "multiboot" so I can use a cm rom as a daily driver and boot to tw if I want any Samsung specifics?

YOu can use multiple rom slots, but thats gonna take up a lot of space.

Right my main question I guess was can I use it even though I'm unlocked and it's meant for locked me7
Also does it allow boot into the stock so that I only have to safestrap cm

Yes, there shouldnt be any problem, and safestrap basically creates another system. So you could keep tw as your main system, and when you need to use cm, boot into it from recovery. But I HIGHLY (note the caps) recommend you keep tw as your main system, and cm as the safe system. If you use cm as your main system, if any errors occur, your kinda screwed.
I believe as of right now, the kernels in the rom slots have to be the same as the kernel on the stock side. Hash did say he was going look into finding a way for those of us on MDK to flash kernels to rom slots, but as of right now it isn't possible.

Then how did some people flash cm on a rom slot when they originally are running stock tw with stock kernel?

I haven't seen anyone say that they have been able to do that. Maybe I missed something?

[Q] I'm still on 4.2.2 which came on the phone the day it was released...

Stock touchwiz and all, didn't flash any roms but I am rooted with unlocked bootloader. Any mod I've ever wanted, I was able to do through xposed or just flash some small file. My questions is, are there any benefits to changing roms? If so, what TW rom would you guys suggest?
ThaCh0de's CockNRom v9.2.3.1 with XBrickMyPhoneX kernel seems to do the trick for me

Woohoo! Don't loose that MDK bootloader! You're one of the lucky/smart ones that didn't take an OTA update.

Install or update TWRP with Goomanager if you're on an old recovery. Just click install openrecoveryscript, that easy.
Stock TW KitKat: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2721118
There are lots of improvements in JB and KK, as well as a couple fixable "issues" (e.g. sd card).
You can sell it to me and then I will give you my phone, that would be the best thing for the world.
Definitely gonna keep my MDK bootloader. The funny thing that's making me want to change is the App to SD card feature in the updates.
I'll make the switch from CWM to TWRP and give stock TW KK a shot. Are there any GS5 ROMs for us? I feel so out of it lol.
I've been flashing since the OG Droid and had close to 10 rooted phones but after getting my GS4 and having everything working perfect(including the mods, I.e. WiFi Ap), I just left it

I'd use Flashify from the Play Store to update to a new recovery. Using Goo or ROM Manager can lead to possibly having to Odin back to stock and start fresh... Couldn't tell you exactly why but it's happened to a few of us including me.
Also... Go for a ROM like C ROM, Mahdi, or Liquid Smooth... Ditch TW

I too have MDK so.... :highfive:! I am running Hyperdrive RLS 15 and it runs flawless. Loads of extra features if you like that sort of stuff. I used the Ktoonz Kernel with it so it comes with the KTweaker App for complete control over the kernel. Loads of battery life. Its 4.3 but if you want 4.4 then wait about a week or so and Sbreen94 will have it released (atleast that is his current time frame).
