[Q] Problems installing CWM recovery onto P7500 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello I bought my P7500 in Malaysia from an independent computer store (not tied to a carrier) about 2 years ago and I recently decided that I'd like to check out CM before I buy my next android device to see if it's important to me to be able to have CM on my next tablet. I took the files from the CM's wiki on how to install CM on the P4. I'm able to get into download mode on the tablet and successfully install the CWM according to Odin 1.85. After I reboot though I still have the standard Samsung recovery binary and when I attempt to repeat the steps it says;
Reason: Force Key,
Secure Mode: Secure,
Check Signature: Check,
Custom Binary download: No (0 count),
Current binary: Samsung Official.
I'm using the official cable that came with the device (sometimes it's finicky about connecting) and Windows downloaded the drivers for it when I first connected the device to my PC. The only other thing I can think of is it has an official version on ICS 4.0.4.
Any help on why I'm having these issues.

Once you've installed cwm, then boot into recovery. Its the other icon when you boot into download mode. It should show a customized recovery rather than the stock one. I believe the infos you gave was from download mode right?

Fixed
Ok I figured it out. The problem seems to be that Odin needed to be restarted for each of the 3 different files that the CM instructions are telling you to install with it. I decided to try it in reverse recovery.tar.md5 -> modem.tar.md5 -> bootloader.tar.md5 and noticed only the 1st file is loaded properly. So if your following the instructions at wikic[dot]cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_p4 then you need to know to restart Odin between each file.

Actually I think you should read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074202. It has all the information you need and contains the right gapps for our device if you want to flash cm10.1.

I can tell you this... on the epic 4g touch... Odin doesn't like to try and flash more than one thing at a time...
I'm not sure how you went about using Odin, but if you need any help... I'm always around..

[Q] cannot get galaxy tab 10.1 (GT-P7500R) (ROGERS) to accept CWM recovery....help?

hi im having trouble getting CWM to work on my Rogers (GT-P7500R) WIFI+4G to accept CWM, I have trying to flash it and it sends my galaxy tab into a boot crash...I had to to restore it to stock kernel with ODIN 1.85 which worked fine, but still on the stupid default recovery (I HATE IT). as soon as I try and flash it with the CWM it simply turns off the tablet and then when I power on again, it shows the samsung galaxy tab logo for a second and then turns off again, then i use odin to flash stock and it works normal again, no data lost at all...any help plz, cause without CWM im pretty sure i cannot do other stuff like custom rom, kernels, overclocking...HELP!!!!!!!!!! im pretty sure this has a signed only bootloader right?? thats why i need something other then 3e recovery to be able to flash stuff
FIXED!!!!
so see below
Good work
Keep us posted! I pick mine up tonight and will be following your foot steps haha thanks for the info so far.
Hi,
so here is how to get clockworkmod on the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 (GT-P7500R)...I looked around XDA for hours before finding some useful info...here it is:
Step 1
download these files:
http://www.4shared.com/file/KbSJhFtI/recovery-cwm_4004-sam-tab-101t.html
and
http://www.4shared.com/rar/74D8ERjO/Odin_v185.html
Step 2
extract the odin zip file and run odin, by right clicking first and say run as administrator...reboot the phone into download mode (ask me if u do not know how , there will be a warning and then a screen with some text in the upper left, connect you device to the usb, and back in odin select the bootloader check box and click browse to the right and select the other recovery-cwm file u downloaded and click start, it should take a short time and you will see a progress bar on the screen...viola, you will have clockworkmod
OPTIONAL: if you want to root it at this time, just follow below:
Download this file:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/cVgtnw_t/Galaxy_root.html
Step 3
put the file in root of the device and reboot into recovery mode (ask me if u do not know how and select update from zip and select the file, then its done and done.
OPTIONAL: if you want to put a custom kernal on, so that you can overclock it to 1.4 ghz, like I have then follow below...it worked and works fine for me
Download this file:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/vWdGcQcr/boot-cm_26364_p4_ux_hc32-oc-xt.html
and follow from step 3 again.
PS: I also have a stock kernal for the rogers edition of the galaxy tab if needed, if u mess it up in the future
Overcome has a good working version of cwm and custom rom that install easily on the Rogers Tab -- the OC kernel by Pershoot works fine. The custom rom by Genbarou also installs well.
Im also on XDA on my tab too...

I was able to load the CWM Recovery onto my Rogers 4G Tab, however I flashed with the files from here initially:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
using the 4G Recovery and Kernel files. This created nothing but boot loop. I was then able to use the CWM file from this post and get CWM to boot however that is all I can do at this time.
I cannot get the device to connect to PC for usb storage (to potentially load a bootable rom) while in CWM as it says "unable to open ums lunefile (no such file or directory).
I believe the kernel.zip file from the other post has messed up my device. Does anyone have a Stock Rogers Kernel, or custom that is flashable via ODIN so I can at least get back to Android OS and load a Rom via USB?
Also can someone repost the Galaxy_root.zip file. I cant download from 4shared. Keeps timing out to file not found. THANKs

I dont know if this will help but you need to know that its not a 4G, its actually 3G+ so if you want to root, dont use the 4G method
I installed the cwm without any problem by following this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
and by following this :
RETAIL 3G
[GTP7500]
1. Download this Root.zip file to your tablet and move it to root directory of tablet storage. (you can also download on comp. then transfer to tablet)
2. Reboot tab and go into recovery mode and apply the root.zip you just downloaded.
3. Then reboot
rooted already
For CWM
1. After rooting download and install Rom Manager from market.
2. open Rom Manager app and have it install clockwork Mod to your device, you should see your device listed within Rom manager.
3. Done.
I was unable to even get the device to recognize by PC. I could not load any zip files. Luckily I found a P7105 fille ODIN file that I was able to load. however it is a WIFI ONLY version I have. However it has enabled me to boot back to android and load files via usb. I am going to try OVERCOME 10.1 and hope that applies the necessary root as well as 3G access.
will report back

Can confirm. Installing CWM then flashing Overcome FULL did wonders. Back up and running. 3.2 android and 3G+ service active.
WAAAHHOOOO! XDA to the rescue!
Some rom?
Hello, thanks for the tutorial, I'm from Venezuela and I have a 7500R if anyone needs Spanish translation let me know. Will you have some rom recommended for a 7500R
Sorry for my English.
I want to confirm that rooting method post here work great.
(This is the only part you need)
RETAIL 3G

1. Download this Root.zip file to your tablet and move it to root directory of tablet storage. (you can also download on comp. then transfer to tablet)
2. Reboot tab and go into recovery mode and apply the root.zip you just downloaded.
3. Then reboot
Note 1: The downloaded file is not named Root.zip. You can of course rename it yourself.
Note 2: To enter recovery mode, after you use vol- to highlight the recovery icon, power button didn't seem to work in selecting it. But you just wait for a min, it'll work.
Note 3: It only takes seconds to load and run the Root.zip. Then you are good to reboot, and it's done.

Can't flash stock rom via ODIN - get FAIL msg

Hey guys,
since I was experiencing random freezes/reboots on NDTs MIUI releases (v8-v15) and siyahs kernels (v2.0-2.6.11) as well on some ICS ports, i decided to try a stock rom to see if the problems remain.
now i downloaded stock roms from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
and tried to flash them via odin. but it simply does not work. i always get the same error message (see screenshot). also i have tried several roms, none of them worked.
i can still enter the download mode, but when i turn on the phone normally it says that there has been a problem with the firmware and tells me to try recovery via kies. kies however does not recognize the phone ...
You got an ICS bootloader still ??

What are you flashing to the phone looks the same file as PDA .
jje
Are you using a stock usb cable?

Hey,
1: Check if download is correct! (at least check file size)
2: U have installed/updated latest Kies?
3: Check if u choosed the right files on right place (we can't see the file name u chossed in each line.
If u checked and all is fine, download the firmware from f.ex. sammobilde.com to be sure.
CHEERS
I agree with JJEgan. Please do the following so we can see what file(s) you are loading in Odin:
1. Click 'PDA' and load file
2. Click 'PHONE' and load file
3. Put the cursor in the read only edit box to the right of the 'PDA' button (the one showing the path and the file name) and press end key
4. Same as 3. but with 'PHONE' button edit box
3. and 4. will help us to see the entire file name, maybe we could help then.
Met with the same problem. Mine was solved as follow
Tried a different usb port and kept on flashing. Each time it failed rebooted again in to download mode, reset odin, select the tar file again and kept on flashing. It kept showing fail at cache, the recovery.img etc. But dont worry mine wnt through finally. Hope this helps some one
kind of workaround - odin failed message (S5 mini)
I had some problems with my camera in Galaxy S5 mini 800F 5.1.1 and i flashed official trough odin. Got failed message. :crying:
I tried to flash different official ROMs, different USB ports, different cables... Nothing. :crying:
Then i just flashed a custom kernel with odin.. OK. i got the startup screen and old off. recovery. Not wery usefull.
Then i flashed another kernel from CM13, got new recovery. (TWRP 3.0.0 recovery image )
PC recognised the phone and SD card, but no ROM and gapps on it.
Took another phone, copied ROM and gapps on SD, switched SD, followed the instructions and now i have a working S5 mini with 6.0.1 CM 13 :highfive:
The device was already out of warranty.
Took me some hours and a lot of nerves to achieve this.
I hope this helps someone
O, and, i'm using WIN 10, no KIES, didn't bother with samsung drivers.

ATT GNote root troubles!!!?

I rooted my ATT GNote using Odin from GNote rootICS. After root was completed and my phone rebooted same computer I used Odin on, a message kept popping up everytime I connected the phone back with PC. The message was "missing identity of the device...contact manufacturer". After trying several times it finally recognized my phone as mass storage device and didn't see SDstorage to transfer after trying a couple if times again I was finally able to see SDstorage and then I moved zip file of PA to storage. After all this struggle when I flashed ROM using CWM. The installation failed and some status 7 error popped up...can anyone please guide me where did I go wrong?
P.S Phone is not bricked becoz I was able to restore it back nandroid copy I made before flashing PA ROM.

The latest ROMs have had issues with CWM, which is why everyone seems to be using TWRP--the one the Paranoid Android developer linked to, and suggested in the PA thread. He included it in his tutorial.
To rehash:
Copy the TWRP .zip file to your device,
(or install goomanager, then hit menu, and selet install openscripts)
Flash TWRP
Download PA (a newer version may or maynot be available on another site).
Check the MD5, ensuring you got a good download, and that the upload wasnt bad.
Flash.
Enjoy.
In short, make sure you have a good download, and flash the TWRP recovery .zip , then flash the ROM from TWRP.

[Q] SoftBricked/Bootloop Sprint Note 2 [SPH-L900]

So I'm selling my Note 2 and yesterday I did a reset but the device went to a bootloop, doesn't pass the flashing Samsung Logo.
My Device was using L900SPTBMK4 and I want to do a restore. Kies doesn't recognize it when in Download mode, does it when is on the loopboot but never finished the connection, stuck a connecting.
In odin the device isn't recognized when in download mode either, as Kies, it recognize the device when stuck a the bootloop. I don't to if is safe to try a flashing in this mode.
Using ODIN v3.09
Autoreboot checked
F. reset Time checked
I don't remember what download mode I suppose to choose from BL/AP/CP
I also have this file L900VPUBMK4_L900SPTBMK4_HOME.tar.md5 to try the flashing if recommended.
Thank you for the support
Forgot to tell, I don't have any recovery option installed.
I just can go to the Download Mode
Guys, the device has been recognized by Odin on my work PC.
Just need to know what file is the correct to be flash by Odin and what option do I need to check,
Regards
Downloaded SPH-L900_MK4_Full Restore_UNROOTED (Compressed Archive) and after that I ran it, was uncompressed and the I ran the uncompressed file called SPH-L900_MK4_Full Restore_UNROOTED.exe with the device in download mode and everything worked like a charm.
From the beginning I understood that this was what has to be done but of course 'my awareness' was about the correct file need it.
Thank you

[Q] Boot loop

Hi
A few months ago I plunged in , rooted my Tab 10.1 (P7500 3G) with TWRP v2.2.0 and installed Cyanogenmod 10.? successfully.
A few weeks ago I started getting random reboots which increased in frequency until finally it started to reboot during the cyanogenmod logo at start up.
I can still access TWRP so I believe all is not lost. So now I want to wipe my tab and flash with a Lollipop ROM I get on this site.
My problem is I did not have the samsung USB driver installed on my PC, so before windows can install them, the tab reboots. or if I go into TWRP it disconnects before the driver is installed.
So now I do not know how to get the ROM zip file on my tablet?
other info:
Windows 7
Odin3 v1.8 (which I got when I rooted originally)
any help would be appreciated

You could download those drivers from Samsung. I've never tried connecting my tab to my pc when in twrp so I can't help you with that. Option b would be to download the stock ICS rom from sammobile and flash it with Odin with your tab in download mode. It gives you a fresh start and a chance to start hating touchwiz all over again

Hi, downloaded the drivers already, but I can't seem to install them while in twrp, the tab seems to disconnect from PC and driver install fails.
I will see if I can connect with the tab through Odin while in twrp. Edit: Odin does not connect to the tab
The Lollipop ROM I have is a ZIP file so as far as I know you need to copy it to the Tab and then flash with twrp? You cant seem to flash it through Odin.
I still have a Nameless-4.4.2 ROM on the tab that I can flash, I will give this a try.

Ok thanks, got that figured out, this is only my second ROM change.
I had a problem wiping the Delvic cache, it get stuck until eventually the battery dies, but never completes the wipe.
I am having some problem now getting a ROM that can be flash from Odin. The zip file I downloaded so far all seem corrupt or empty . I eventually flashed a ROM (P7500XWLP5_P7500OJVLP5_P7500XXLQ8_HOME.tar.md5) I had on my hard drive, not sure which one this is....
The flash went fine, but now I am stuck at the SAMSUNG logo that comes up after the stars and animation sequence. I will leave it over night on charge and see if it will boot up.

I'm betting it won't go past the samsung logo. If it does, great! If it doesn't you'll need to do a factory reset. That helped for me.
