Connectivity issues with Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 Sprint Evo 4g LTE - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

The other night I put my HTC DEV rooted EVO 4g LTE on CM 10.1.3 stake release. I did flash the boot img to the phone as I had unlocked using HTC Dev. Instead of eyeballer recovery and CWM method that is on the CM wiki I used my existing TWRP to install 10.1.3 from my micro sd card.
Got things running smooth and stable within an hour or so of installing that night but was dismayed to find when I got to work the next morning that I had no data connectivity although I had it at my home which is some 26 miles away. Phone performance was sporadic at work but data was dead (I'm only 3g where I live and where I work) meaning everything kept telling me I had no internet and I had no 3g symbol.
Called sprint to get PRL pushed to me. That didn't work.
Questions:
1. Does the data connectivity loss look like an issue with 10.1.3?
2. Is there a way to request a PRL update in 10.1.3?
3. Is there a way to request a Profile update in 10.1.3?
4. Do i really need to do 2 or 3 above or am I assuming that would have fixed the problem.
5. Related to #s 2 and 3 above, I often found it helpful to update the prl and profile on my stock rom phones. Is it not needed on CM 10.1.3, in other words does it do it automatically or is there some method to do this that is not in the software?
To address the lack of data connectivity, I simply put my stock, unrooted HTC One (Sprint) back on the account figuring I'd deal with this later. The One had no problems nor did my 4G LTE before I blew away the rooted stock ROM and Viper that I was swapping out before going to CM 10.1.3
I'm really digging the CM Rom and would like to keep using it. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, CM 10.1.3 stable release, not stake release.

Not sure if this helps... I'm pretty much a noob... Here's the radio, hboot, etc.

Backup your current setup and flash/restore to a sense rom update profile and prl, good luck!
P. S. Remember that even a nand restore will require you to fastboot the boot. Img/kernel

I'm having this exact issue with 10.1.3 stable, though it is highly inconsistent. Sometimes I'll have excellent data service. Sometimes I'll reboot and have 4G for about 5 minutes, after which I'll drop off the planet. Very strange.
It appears I overwrote my stock NAND backup, so I'll have to find the right version and install that and give this a shot. Did it work for you?

(Q) data problems

Ok here's the deal brought a new EVO 3d n notice that it had the last sprint update hboot 1.5, so the only method available to root was with HTC method, so I follow the root on HTC dev.com and successfully rooted my phone. After root got recovery and flash superuser. Eveything went smooth. So afterwards I booted my phone to recovery to keep a full stock ROM n did a backup of it before flashing new Roms.
Here's the problem when I'm full stock rooted ROM my 3g works normal.
But right after I follow directions ons the threads of how to flash a ROM and custom kernel on sprint lastest update. Like virus lastest ROM I follow he's intructions on how to on hboot 1.5 and flash the ROM and everything goes well until the boots the ROM data starts having 1x when I'm not using it but than after i turn the phone on n used it the 1x goes to 3g and just keeps doing that. I can't keep the 3g to stay I already contact sprint n did a data reset and nothing work.
3g stays only on stock ROM but not on custom ROM cuz I get the 1x and 3g back and forth. So sprint told me to take to sprint store to check it out but I wanna see if anyone had a similar problem on rooting this lastest update phones?????
I just want 3g to stick!
Thanks

The stock ROM never shows 1x; it's not built to show 1x. Even when you are in 1x, it will show 3g. The custom ROMs are built to show 1x and 3g when it changes. So what you are seeing in a custom ROM is what is truly happening, and what you see in the stock ROM is 3g all of the time -- even when you are in 1x.
Hope my explanation helps and isn't confusing.
Are you in a good service area compared to custom Roms the stock ROM does NOT show when the phone is on 1X so that may be it.

Yea a perfect location get full bars...its like when the phone goes to sleep it goes to 1x automatically and when I turn the screen it still on 1x until I open an application with data required or the browser the 1x goes and changes to 3g and the data works but than when I'm done or not touching the phone the 3g goes back to 1x and it just stays that way from now on
Might use shoot me to show a video of how it acts...
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
THATS VERY INTERESTING.... can you check in settings under power then see if power efficiency is enabled. That may be it or thats all i can think of atm.
EDIT: Actually i have no idea other than my first just tried it on my phone. kept the 3g icon the whole time.

Please help! Rooted and romed now terrible signal.

Two days ago I rooted and installed cm7.1. Everything was fine at home on WiFi then I go to work and my phone is rendered useless. I work in and area where before being rooted and having a custom Rom installed I would have good 3g service all day every day. Now the phone is bouncing back and fourth between 3g and 1x. With one to two bars on either and usually stuck on 1x. So I switch to mean Rom ics. Rom works exceptionally well but now I'm at work and once again terrible not even usuable signal strength in a place where I've worked for years and never had an issue before. It took me 3 hours to download tapatalk from the play store today just to write this. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong or if there's a fix! If not I'll be reverting to stock.
Sprint evo 3d
Hboot 1.5 s-on
4ext recovery
Mean Rom ics
I tried updating profile and prl with no luck. Which actually I don't even know what that does so it could be irrelevant.
Please help thanks!

Try this

#Root-Hack_Mod*Always\=LTE
Also there is a big difference in what Rom you choose, at least for me. Some have roaming working, som do not. I would try a different Rom.

Bumer man. If you were s-off I'd say just flash a different radio. However you being s-on makes that not a option. Have you tried calling sprint and have them reset your signal ?
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always\=LTE
Ya, definitely do s-off, prefer Closeone with Unknownforce, worth the time, not sure of other method, never tried. Different Rom, some my data is 200-400, others better signal and 1100-1600 3g. CM7 kind of old, second the recommended previously though my preference is Sense 4, no 4g in Phoenix metro, dam you Sprint...lol.

Broken 4G data on AOSP roms

I've had my thunderbolt for over a year now and its been rooted for most of that time. Up until recently everything been working fine. I was running CM7, but for the past few weeks I haven't been able to get data when connected to 4G. The 4G icon shows up but is grayed out, but when I toggle airplane mode it turns blue but still does not work. My first though was that my radios were wrong so I flashed a bunch of different radios but none of those worked. Next I tried flashing a bunch of different roms (all AOSP because I hate sense), no help. I finally figured it was my SIM card so I got a replacement from verizon.
So none of this worked and on a whim I decided to flash a sense based rom, and 4G worked!
Is this a common problem with thunderbolts or does anybody have a fix for this? I really want to switch back to CM7 (running MIUI with no MMS right now).
EDIT: I forgot to mention, for some reason 4G data works on the MIUI rom I'm currently running. So for now I'm opting for speed over MMS.
For anyone interested my radios are currently:
LTE: 0.01.79.0331w_1
radio: 1.49.00.0406w_1

Hello,
I have had my tbolt rooted for over a year as well, I am a flashaholic and never had a data problem, maybe u need to switch ur kernel, I'm on ziggys kernel and I've been on since it released and never had a problem, I never really changed my radio, hope this helps.

There are 4G issues with AOSP, you get slower data speeds and for some reason my coverage recording maps don't record 4G properly when using AOSP. Sense works fine.

I did switch to imosyens lean kernel on a few roms after things started acting up. I don't think my kernel is the issue though, seeing as I was running CM7 for so long with no problems.

Odd that it worked for so long and randomly crapped out. You wouldn't happen to know of any fix or work around to this problem, would you? I really just can't stand the notification menu and icons that come with sense.

[Q] 4g doesn't work AFTER installing Jelly Bean Build 21 ROM

I rooted my Verizon SCH-i605 and my internet works. After installing Jelly Bean ROM Build 21 my 4g doesn't work but if I load back to my stock my 4g will work. I have backed up my EFS files and restored them and my 4g still doesn't work on Jelly Bean ROM. I don't know if I'm restoring the EFS files the wrong way. Please help. Thanks.

what jellybean rom are you running. There should be no issues with them. Make sure you are running the current radio. try installing the vramc3 radio if you have not yet.
I'm on the latest build which is 21 and my radio is i605VRAMC3. I'm new to this field of rooting so bare with me please. Now I don't know if that is the latest baseband version.

Some cases can causes radio interference, and it may be the area you are in. I live literally 2 miles from a tower and never get more then 3bars of signal strength, and depending where i'm at in my house, my 4g goes from 3 up .4 dn when downstairs to 8 up 2 dn when upstairs.

Well you see if I go back to stock my 4g works perfectly. Idk if this rom could be corrupted download but I've seen people do reviews on this ROM with the same note as me and it's just working perfectly. Now another thing that is really weird is if I us Back Up Assistant (which is too back up contacts) my 4g will pop up and backup my contacts. I can use my 4g to back up but I can use it freely the way I want to. So I don't know why this ROM is blocking my 4g. And by the way I live in California and I get 4g 24/7 (in the area I live in) and I've just re-flashed the same ROM again and nothing. Really grinding my gears if you ever been in my shoes.
That's weird. I tend to run each rom for atleast 3 days just to trouble shoot. N had no issues with that rom. What's your apn settings n db levels reading?

Well I would like to conclude that I got the rom working. I was flashing from my external card. So I decided to put the file into my sdcard (on the phone itself) and my 4g popped up. I understand now why it failed. But thank you for taking your time in helping me I appreciate it. Thanks. Keep hacking.

You actually don't have to have S-OFF to get this to work. I have never been able to get that unlocked on my device, because I updated to the new partition table, and I've never seen a successful way to get S-OFF from 2.10+. Anyway, what I do is flash like normal, then I extract the boot.img from the .zip and then run "fastboot flash boot boot.img" under fastboot, and you're gold.
Thanks for the update. You get a gold star for being the first Jewel 5.1 builder.
So is anyone anyone up and running this yet? If so, how is it? I really like the Pacman build as well as DU but DU keeps locking up on me as I get almost all of my apps installed... Especially themes. Greatly appreciate the continued new builds though!:thumbup:

I have to download CM12.1 ASAP! I have been running the latest CM12 nightly and it has been working well along with the builds from this dev!
On a side note, I read that Spirit FM Radio 1 stopped working after KitKat and that the new Spirit FM 2 broke on this device with the kernel after CM11 but I decided to try it anyway and its working just fine! Most Nexus, Samsung, Motorola, etc devices have the hardware disabled but the good old Evo 4G LTE is still going strong!
Oh, I am running the Beta version of Djdarkknight's BlakKat theme...not sure if its public yet but best bet is to check Team Blackout site or inverted/transparent apps app:thumbup::thumbup:

I've been running it for a couple of days.
GOOD
I haven't seen any FC issues, which is very good.
Data works fine, and cell strength seems to be normal.
I also like being able to use the new Gapps package, which is more up to date, with 5.1. That's not particular to this ROM, though.
BAD
I have had random reboots every few hours with this.
I'm pretty confident that it's not showing the proper cell strength, because it lists no bars, although it seems normal.
I couldn't get the Gmail widget to work with this. I had to resort to using the stock email app, which isn't nearly as nice.
At the end of the day, this ROM isn't ready to replace the solid 5.0 build yet. I wouldn't recommend it for a daily driver. But hey, this is really early in the game. In a couple of weeks or in a month, things will probably be right as rain.

Actually, I don't know what's going on recently, but I can't get mobile data to work on ANY recent builds (Cyanogenmod, LiquidSmooth, PacRom). Not even my own AICP builds anymore. I don't know if there is a new setting that I need to fiddle with, or what. Nobody else seems to be having this problem. This CM 12.1 build is the only new one that works for me now. Otherwise, I have to go back to my AICP build from several weeks ago. Has anyone else experienced this? Know how to fix it? I use Ting (Sprint) network.
EDIT
I found the answer by @fizbanrapper! Now I think I'm gold.

Yeah, I switched to T-Mobile (I was on Sprint and T-Mobile for a while) so my Jewel, Sprint Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S 4G are all WiFi only devices so if WiFi works, I am good. In fact, the WiFi range on this build is much greater than my HTC One M7 on T-Mobile.
I guess its a moot point because next week I am ordering either the SIM unlocked Nexus 6 or the SIM unlocked M9 directly from Motorola or HTC. I am still trying to decide which. My M7 is SIM unlocked as well but that only helps those on GSM.
If anyone is hurting for a Sprint device, I have a few older ones but they are in great shape...especially this Jewel! Its like a new device since flashing Lollipop

Glad it helped! Ting runs on GSM now too, if you're interested. I got an AT&T M8 running on T-Mobile's network, but still with Ting and same pricing. APN's rarely seem to matter on GSM Ting.
I ran this for a couple days and only issues I had was that poweramp and mx player kept freezing up and fc'ing It's very fast and smooth otherwise and had no issues with data or reboots.

So I guess that I wrongly assumed that CM was already rolling out 12.1 nightlies for the Jewel. But I checked their Jewel downloads page, and it still says "12", not "12.1". So is that a typo, and CM is still using 12.1, or are they not doing nightly 12.1 builds? If people want this ROM updated, I could try my hand at it.
EDIT - I'm trying my hand at it. Squashing through build errors now.

So sorry guys. I just assumed cm would have picked up nightly builds a few weeks ago.
Ocarinaz has been doing a hell of a job picking up the slack for the roms I used to build.
Any interest in becoming an official maintainer for SOKP jewel?

No worries. If you don't have the time, and if you aren't even using the device, it's nothing to be bashful about leaving behind.
What all would be entailed in an "official maintainer"? I'm willing to keep building it, it's easy enough. And I can keep up my XDA thread. But if I have to register in a million places, I might just rather stick to my unofficial builds and call it quits.

I did get a CM12.1 build off though. It wasn't that hard. Enjoy!
CM-12.1-Jewel-Files
FYI - I have been using this since last night. I noticed a couple of FCs when it came to putting my gadgets where I wanted them to be the first time, but after that I haven't had problems. It seems to be a good build overall.
I just rebuilt CM 12.1 from scratch. It built start to finish without even one error. It means that if you like CM, you should update to the newest one. But it also means that I would wager a fair bet that CM might start nightlies for Jewel soon.
I've managed to stay happy on the official 12 builds so far. Down side is I'm pretty established on it. So I have that nag in the back of my mind to try dirty flashing to 12.1 against my better judgement. Lol
I don't know if I should keep making new posts for every new build, but *bump*, I got one off again. And while I don't recommend dirty flashing over 12.0, I would say it's worth a go.
Oh yeah, purely for science. And after making a good backup
