Even though there a lot of articles on how to root still many of you out there have still not rooted this guide will help you.
I've gone through lots of articles on how to install CWM recovery , How to Root Canvas HD but almost all of them are not noob friendly. As a new user i myself took days to get acclimatized to rooting.........
This is a noob friendly guide to root and install CWM recovery both on 4.1 and 4.2 versions.Even the so called geeks can go through this!!
Source:
Nothing is of my own i've created this from various forum links and have taken help from google.
First what is rooting?
Rooting is a process allowing users of Smartphone’s, tablets, and other devices running the Android operating system to attain privileged control (known as “root access”) within Android’s subsystem. Basically rooting is performed to overcome the limitation that wireless service providers and hardware manufacture of android phone put on some devices. If your android mobile is rooted that means you are the SUPER USER on your android cell phone and you get ability to customize or replace system applications. This little word rooting provide you power to run specialized apps that require administrator-level permissions and perform another operation which are inaccessible to a normal android.
I think this should be more than enough and you would have already spent your time on this!! Hope so
Now what is CWM recovery?
All of the Android devices consign with a recovery assuage that is a basic partition on the device's internal memory and also can be booted into it. The stock recovery of almost all of the Android devices provide a few basic yet useful options that allow us to factory reset our device, clearly it is cache partitioning, and bring back its operating system using an official ROM in zip format, but that is the only thing you can do with it. This is the reason where a custom recovery becomes handy.
A custom Android recovery initially replaces all the stock recovery with the one that lets you to do all that you can with the stock recovery, plus a overabundance of options that give us a lot more control on the device. With a custom recovery, you can install official and unofficial ROMs as well as other updates also including hacks, themes, kernels.Using zip files, wipe not just user data but every standard partition on our device, ascend the storage card for USB mass storage access without leaving recovery, partition your SD card, wipe dalvik cache and battery status, fix the permissions, perform, manage and restore backups, and so on.
This is where CWM recovery comes in our aid!!
There is also another very popular recovery named TWRP which many developers still recommend but still a major drawback is that many ROM developers still prefer CWM so i say go with CWM!
Now first how to ROOT.
Do remember rooting voids your warranty, still you can unroot before going to customer care(if you have to). Don't believe all those info on internet that rooting should be avoided.... never root your device... it is very risky.. etc yes you may brick your device if you don't follow the instructions carefully but if you follow these instructions properly nothing would happen!
Now actually since there are many methods to root which i've come across, i think only 3 of them are quite easy and would explain on how to do them here!
The first way to root is always with the SP flash tools but it is a very old and tough job as many users face the problem of their pc not detecting their device. So i'm not going to explain about it.
Since this post is already too long i'm giving the XDA links to the three methods(sorry)......
First method:

Second method:

Third method:

In case you want to take your beloved CHD to a service center then please unroot it and also flash stock recovery.
Here how to UNROOT and flash stock recovery:

Good day everyone,
I hope you all are doing well
It's been almost a year since I bought Ideos U8150-B but to tell you the truth I wasn't satisfied with the phone's speed, it used to lag alot. I tried different methods to fix it but they weren't quite successful.
Then I came to know through the XDA forums about rooting, installing a custom rom etc. I felt quite relieved but being a noob I couldn't do much
Luckily I now have found the way of doing this the easy way, Just follow the intructions below:
NOTE: Rooting/Modifying your ROM/Installing a new ROM will void your warranty and at times it can be risky too, you may end up bricking your phone. DO THIS ONLY WHEN YOU ARE MENTALLY PREPARED OR WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING
ROOTING Your Android
There are many ways available on the internet about how to root your android but they unluckily didn't work for me much. While browsing through different threads I came to know about this awesome software "z4root" which can root your phone with just one click and luckily it did the job quite well, that settles that
Now How to Install a Custom ROM:
Follow these steps:
1- You need to flash a custom recovery
In my case I flashed ClockworkMod 3.0.2.4 (by marcnvidic), there are some others available too but I don't quite know about them much so I would recommend clockworkmod.
HOW TO flash?
It's simple, install "Root toolbox", it must be available in the android market if not then google it.
Install it on your android and when you will open it you will see a number of options, just look for "Flash Recovery" option and then it will ask you to browse the recovery, navigate it to where you placed the recovery file and it will flash it for you within seconds.
2- Choose a custom ROM: Download the custom ROM of your choice and place it in the sd card. I am currently using Fusionideos and I found it to be the best ROM for ideos U8150. There are many others available as well.
3- After downloading and placing your ROM in the sd card switch off your phone and boot it in recovery mode (To boot in recovery mode press volume up key+call key/send key+power button for about 5 seconds and it will boot your phone into recovery mode and you will see a black screen with few options like wipe data, wipe cache, install zip from sd card etc. If you don't then you must have made some mistake while flashing the recovery, if that happens try step #1 again.
4- Once you have booted your phone in recovery mode you can finally start installing a custom ROM, just do the following:
* Perform a backup of your current ROM using Backup and restore option in the recovery.
* After backup is complete go to the main screen and select Wipe data/factory reset.
* After that return to the main screen and finally select "install .zip from sd card"
It will take you to browse the custom ROM file, just navigate it to where you placed it. Wait for the installation to complete. After the installation is complete reboot your phone via the reboot option on the main screen and hopefully you will have your new custom ROM running
I hope that was helpful and you won't have to spend hours browsing the web to learn about all this

thanksssssssssssssssssssss
nice and easy alternative instructions.... well done... In Rom Manager app i was not able to install custom recovery... because my Ideos u8150 was not listed there... so your method worked perfectly... thanks again

Hi,
I've read you post about rooting and custom Rom installing.
But my phone is locked by Zong so I want to ask that after doing all this, whether my phone will be unlocked or not?
Please Reply as soon as possible.

Sorry but installing a custom ROM will not unlock ur phone. U will have to use some alternative method for that. For instance, using dc-unlocker will help but it's not free or u may go to a mobile market and ask an expert to unlock it for u. I also have ideos zong and it's still carrier locked.
I want to unlock for free

n as you said that Dc-unlocker has charges for unlocking and I've also visited market but they are demanding too much money for unlocking
but I want it for freeeeeeeeeee

Yeah it is good to save some money
BTW, how much were they asking to unlock ideos at the market and which market was it?
Unlock IDEOS U8150 | ZONG
You can get your phone unlocked from hafeez center, lahore.
I asked from one shop and they told me Rs.1200
but I think that if you visit all shops, you'll surely find some shop demanding less price than the above one.

As far as I know, deleting a system app like facebook, youtube etc should not harm your rom in anyway but for this you need root permissions and root explorer app for R/W mounting.
P.S. I am talking about third party system apps, don't try to mess with other system apps.
This is the first time for me with an HTC device. So I need a little help.
I am trying to find a way for rooting the phone without loosing any data or configuration. Can somebody help me?
My phone is HTC One X+ running Android 4.2.2 with Sense 5.
In case I need to take claim the warranty of the phone what I would have to do? Is there something I should do before rooting the device, so that I will be able to unroot it?
Thanks a lot in advance!

I don't know all the answers to your questions but let me help you make something clear.
Unlocking the bootloader is different from "rooting"
Your warranty is voided when you unlock the bootloader, which is an important step to actually "root". Your bootloader is what you see when you reboot and hold volume down. The step of unlocking the bootloader is the step that cause you to lose your data. So I recommend you to connect your phone and copy all the valuable information and files on it to your PC, then once this step is done you can copy it back.
Rooting: Becoming the administrator of your phone (like sudo in linux) , Becoming a SUPERUSER , meaning you can change system files and so forth and so on (Thats the general explanation however since we all have S-ON so its called temporary root but lets not get ourselves to that yet)
How can you gain root access?
1-Unlock the bootloader
2-Install a custom recovery
3-flash "superuser.zip"(which will be included in almost all the guides that you will follow to root your phone)
Once you have root access you will be able to play with your phone settings , but be careful not to break the settings.
Now concerning your final question , how to "unroot"?
Before you flash "superuser.zip (which will be the real "rooting" of your phone) , you will go to your "custom recovery" (most popular onces are TWRP and CWM) and go to an option called "Backup" and you do a backup called "nandroid backup" , which copies your phone AS IT IS , which then you can copy it to your PC. You will be able to restore it using the recovery you had installed as it is. Which technically will "unroot" your phone.
Question you might ask: That is so cool, but can't I do it before unlocking the bootloader and losing all my data? from my EXPERIENCE and what I searched , No.
Then how will I benefit? Since having root access to your phone might put your phone in danger of breaking something , or installing a bad ROM (read about this topic before rooting. Here is a summary: "HTC Sense" is a ROM. "Samsung TouchWIZ" is a ROM, "Stock Android" is a ROM) you will have a full safe backup that you will be able to restore so you can have your phone running again.
Also note the following: Once you have a custom recovery you will be able to install custom roms , when you install custom roms your APPs are deleted BUT the data IN your SDcard directory will not be harmed (Music, pics..etc)
So how can I recover my applications? By installing "titanium backup" you will be able to backup all your applications apk and data, saved to your internal storage, so when you switch roms , you need to redownload the app and then restore your data, and you will have all your data back.
So why can't I use that before I unlock the bootloader? Because Titanium backup ITSELF requires root access to access your apps apks and do full backups.
Also a note, when flashing your FIRST ROM, you will sweat like a pig when you get stuck on "Boot screen" , its called a "BOOT LOOP" , do not fear. Since HTC has all the bootloaders S-ON (till now) you will need when you switch ROMS to flash the boot.img to your phone. HOW?
Google "Fastboot flash boot boot.img HTC" and you will see tons of guides. It should also be noted in every single custom ROM guide that you will need to follow that STEP.
ALSO!!! Do NOT FORGET TO MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE ROOTING AND BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO FLASH A CUSTOM ROM!! AND DONT INSTALL A CUSTOM ROM FOR "AT&T" AND YOUR PHONE IS INTERNATIONAL AND VICE VERSA.
I rooted my phone and I wish I had someone to tell me that in a single post , so I spent around 10 minutes writing this guide , which I hope people will find useful.
Best of luck mate
Also note that this is the wrong section, since its a question it should go to "Q&A section".

Thanks a lot for explaining all these stuffs to me. Really appreciate it. I knew a few of the things already from what you wrote, but I must say a lot of these are completely new info for me!
So tl;dr I can't root without unlocking the bootloader!

I know its sort of tiring but honestly the payoff is massive, atleast to me. I explored things I didn't know about my phone. I learned information about how the phone is made. These information help you.
Inaddition to having custom ROMs, rooting offers you the benefit of backing up your games which is not available on stock.
Anyway, Best of luck, android is a great world to explore.
I however must give credit to every single one that helped me on that topic, and that's my way of paying them back. To Help others like me who need help

Hi guys,
first of all I would like to wish all of you the best for the next year . I've been trying to follow the steps indicated in the next thread in order to install the twrp recovery and get root permision on my VK6735 VKWorld mobile.
Link to instructions:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/recovery-vk-world-vk6735-t3306714 (Sorry to post here but I don't have permisions or possibility to post in the other thread)
I do all the steps and I get the recovery flashed ok using the flash tool showing the ok button but when I acces to my mobile and go to the recovery I can see that it isn't installed I see the default recovery options of android, therefore I can't continue installing the SuperUser zip. I figure out that there's some step pending in the thread explaining how to install the recovery.img you have flashed.
For the moment I don't want to do anything more to my phone because I'm worried about the possibility to brick my phone, the aim to do all of this is only to root my mobile and improve the energy efficiency of battery through some apps that require root access and set some malware antivirus to avoid spam and ads in applications, though.
I have seen in another forums that some guys have tried to root this model and got bricked their phone and another ones have tried to use different rooting apps like kingo root without success. It would be possible for some expert using the forum to complete the link thread mentioned before adding some screen captures or more detailed information about the different steps?? For me the best would be someone doing a youtube video rooting vk6735 mobile from scratch. It would be the best Christmas present for me,
Thanks
Hello, until now I avoided to root my device (SGP612 / Stock Marshmallow), because I did not want to risk to lose the drm-keys or do other damage.
Besides that, there some apps, which will not run on rooted devices as netflix (at least I suppose so).
Now working on Tasker and other tools the demand of root is increasing more and more. But still I want to take it restrained and looking for a way to limit the root via ADB. I'm not sure, if that is possible, but I think, that would be a good compromise. Online I found a huge amount of guides and threads "how to root", but all of them, at least it looks like that, ending with an unlocked bootloader, TPRP, SuperSU and so on. I did not read all of them, because that would take years and these guides may also be outdated or even worse incorrect.
Therefor I'm here to ask you about yours assessment.
My main goal would be to:
- Make a full backup
- Protect the DRM-Keys and other irreversible stuff
- No app should be able to detect that the device has been rooted respectively modified on system-level
- Void a reset of the current setup
- Install some apps to system via adb and grant some permissions, uninstall few oem-apps
- Tweak a few settings via adb
Is that possible? And if so, are there some good and simplified guides, which I should read?
Wrong forum. This is for Z3 Compact phone. What you want is https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-tablet-compact
You can root the phone without unlocking the bootloader, so I would assume that you can do the same with the tablet. You have to flash with an older ROM/kernel first, though, but it is doable.

I will ask the moderation to move my thread, thanks for the hint.
That sounds complicated to flash an older ROM, especially if no suitable instructions are known to me.
BTW. I prefer to stay at stock.
I am pretty sure you posted in the right forum. Everything you mention is possible, except making a full backup. I wouldn't know how without root or twrp. You can backup your TA partition with a special tool to save your drm keys. It uses the 'dirty cow' exploit so you may need to downgrade first (which wipes your data).
I think root via ADB requires a custom rom. You need to unlock your bootloader, which wipes all data. Alternatively, you can root your device with Magisk. It can hide itself from detection for a set of apps that you select.

The thread has been moved by now, so that should be ok.
But still, I do not want any custom-rom. My experience with such on other devices in the past was very frustrating and a waste of time. Had always stability issues on driver-level and other misbehavior. On one samsung device I tested around ten or more roms and all of them was quite ****ty...
And until now it sounds like, I need to install a custom before I even can start to make backups and such. But I want a backup of the status quo, to which I could always rollback, if things gets ugly.
I like the current stock, is a good and stable base, a few tweaks and it would be perfect for me. Of course, I did not test any customs on my current device to be able to make some substantiated conclusion on that but I'm to distrustful to follow this path, especially not when there is no way back.
I miss any imagination what is possible and what is not, or what effect a particular measure entails. Therefor I can't estimate the accuracy of any guide and there are hundreds of them out there, and it looks like the approach is sometimes different. I started reading some of them, but stopped it because I could not retrace the content.
Can you recommend a good guide, which could work out for me and whats the name of the tool to backup the drm-keys? Thanks...
Check here for the TA backup https://forum.xda-developers.com/cr...rsal-dirtycow-based-ta-backup-t3514236/page47
I am very happy with this rom, the developer recently issued a Pie alpha (which I haven't tried yet)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3...m-aicp-android-ice-cold-project-o8-1-t3731197
There's a guide for rooting + recovery @ https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3...to-rooted-lollipop-locked-bootloader-t3083980
Be sure you follow the instructions very carefully, since you are flashing (the system partition) with the ROM from a Z3 phone.
The process is similar to the Z3 phones:
- flash to an older ROM
- root
- install custom recovery
- using custom recovery, flash with a prerooted, updated ROM
No need to unlock bootloader and no need for custom ROMs.
Asides from that, I don't know how to do the rest of the stuff in your list.
(I'm debating on getting a used Z3t, which is why I'm researching root possibilities .)
Hello Guys,
I just bought a new Wemax One Pro (Xiaomi) laser projector.
I'm very happy with my purchase, picture and sound quality,....
BUT, it has a few drawbacks too, Chinese Menu's, no Google Play-store, no YouTube.
Hence I would like to root this device, I already found a user guide on how to do this in another section of this forum.
I'm posting this question here, because I think it's more appropriate.
Now for my question,... I can follow this user guide upon the letter,... BUT then I don't learn anything, and also I like to know what I'm doing.
I'm a COMPLETE NEWBIE, so I like to know what is the relation between twrp and magisc, why do I need both, and what is a custom rom.
Already have read many topics and this is what I know so far,...
Magisc is never version of supersu, superuser, with the advantage that is doesn't actually changes the system files, instead puts them save in boot.
With twrp I can get access into the recovery mode, and modify system files,... please do correct me if I'm wrong!
What I don't understand is what is the relation between these two and why do I need them both?
And what is a custom made rom, does this alter system files?
Maybe you guys know a link to a good beginners guide, external or on this forum.
Or just maybe someone can explain this to me very briefly, I don't want to become a wizard of developer, I just want to understand what I do.
Many THANKS for all your help, and replies !
A very short answer, sorry for this
A custom ROM is a 3rd-party firmware for Android devices in contrast to device's built-in stock ROM
TWRP is a fully touch-based custom recovery used on phones to carry out a host of major hacks and tweaks, from creating full backups to flashing custom ROMs. Android offers only a limited stock recovery function. Without a custom recovery you won’t be able to flash a custom ROM. Note: Device must not be rooted. You install TWRP typically by means of its installer or by means of Fastboot *).
Installing SuperSU or Magisk into your Android system means you are rooting the Android system. The rooting process differs from device to device which makes it impossible to give general instructions on rooting here. All you need is an unlocked bootloader in your device !! When confronted with Android rooting, you often have to work with Fastboot *).
*) Fastboot is part of Google’s Android SDK and is mostly used to re-flash partitions on your Android device, similar to (custom) recovery mode. Rooting is done using custom recovery these days!
Thanks for your reply!!
So does this mean I can change the system language from Chinese to English just by applying a custom ROM?
And would I then also be able to remove bloatware?
One last one, sorry for this.
Is it true I can't install customs ROM's without rooting my device?

A1: Changing Android's system language is achieved via Android's Settings, look here.
A2: Removing bloatware has be manually done, one by one, by you: bloatware isn't part of any ROM.
A3: Have already answered this question in my previous post.
