Hi! I have my Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 rooted and running the stock ROM and android 2.3.6. I have installed CWM recovery, and ROM manager. Now here is the issue. I have downloaded PAC ROM, CM 10.1, and CM 9. And none of them will install!! I am so confused... I try it manually with CWM and with ROM manager... Each time I wipe cache, data reset, and wipe dalvik cache if using manual CWM... So I have no idea why this shouldn't work! Please help me thank you!

Not to sure, but i think in order to go from stock to 10.1 you need to get cm9 in there first, same also assuming that you are trying the latest pac which is android 4.3. Can you list down your steps that you did in exact order? also assuming you did all the root and everything since you said you can boot into cwm.
Well here is what I have done.
1. Rooted the galaxy player with framaroot
2. Used Odin to flash a .tar file which gave me cwm
3. Downloaded all the Roms I said, two are on the SD card and 1 is on the internal storage
4. Installed Rom Manager
5. Have tried using ROM manager and just manually using CWM recovery to install each of the Roms.
6. ROM manager says the files don't exist(which they do)
7. Cwm recovery says an error occurred and its like "error or section 7" something like that... Why is this happening? It sounds like I'm doing everything right....

This post talks about recovering from being bricked but can be applied to getting a custom rom into you sgp5 in general. note the download link for Galaxy player bootloaders already contains odin the pit file and the tar file. this is however only to get it to cwm and install a rom you already have on sd card or internal memory. You would start on step 4 since your not bricked, past step 4 is just getting it into cwm to load roms.

Geez... OK, I can't be certain but I don't think ROM manager works for gp5. You need to flash a kernel that has cwm recovery such as entropy's daily driver. From there you can flash directly to cm10.1 or cm10.2 you just need to wipe everything first(including system)...

Hi, I'm really new to this Android thing and a friend bought a Samsung Galaxy Ace. He's worst than me and doesn't know what a ROM is..
Well, I want to install THIS CyanogenMod but it says the phone needs to be in 2.3.* and my friend's is in 2.2.1.
I searched how to update to 2.3.* and I thought updating to 2.3.3 by flashing THIS VillainROM will work.. and after this ROM, put ClockWorkMod (required by the CM) and flash the CM..
I want to know if this will work or if I'll brick my friend's phone (I prefer bricking my phone rather than my friend's). Hope to hear some reponse soon, thanks!
VillanROM is fine

I'm Not familuar with your Galaxy phone but as it is samsung you should be able to you odin or swupdate to flash any SUPPORTED rom. Also first thing I have done with any phone regardless of manufacture is obtain root then flash recover and lastly flash the rom of your choice.
Not much help but hope it gives some direction

Well, thanks for help but I have another problem
I connected the phone to Skies and it said a Firmware update was available. I updated the phone and ended with 2.3.4.
I was very happy and thought: "Great! I have 2.3.4 so now I can put the CWM and install the CyanogenMod "
I copied the CWM to the SD and installed it through recovery. When I tried to enter the CWM App it said I needed Superuser acess and the app closes..
I tried using SuperOneClick v2.1.1 and also opening in recovery mode and selecting "install .zip from SD" with a .zip supposed to root 2.3.4 but none of them worked..
What should I do? HELP!

You don't need root. Flash the clockworkmod recovery and you're all set for the final rom flashing.

That's for recovery, the Mets-inf folder is the script to write the recovery.img
That's weird, You may try downloading the zip fresh, or if ask else fails grab the Odin flashable tar and use that.

Yup.
Given you download the correct file for this device.
If that still fails, which I dunno why I would, it should go without saying The Odin file, will need Odin a pc and a Usb cable

That has the Odin flashable cwm touch file... that version is outdated so after flashing that, you'll have cwm, but flashing a newer Rom zip might end up with a "status 7 error" in recovery.
At that point I'd personally use goo manager go grab the latest version of a cwm zip, that'll be usable in the version of cwm I posted above.

Are you saying I should _not_ use TWRP to put CWM on?
No, it should work, just saying if it still gives you the proverbial finger, Odin is your friend and that version is just the latest with an Odin .tar
So to have your cake (cwm) and eat it too (flash new roms) you'll need to update your recovery from that older version of cwm
So you said you get an error when you tap to install? You should be flashing that zip in recovery like you would a ROM or mod. Is that what you did? After it installs just reboot recovery within twrp and bam!!! You'll have cwm.
Thanks so much for your help...my problem remains, so I may go back to a stock ROM for T-Mobile, since that is my provider, and see if I can solve it... Before I installed CWM, I could sms/mms to my e-mail address...I can't any longer.

The reason that the ROM will not install on your device is because you are trying to flash a ROM in the stock Android recovery. To install a custom ROM you will need to install a custom recovery image such as Clockworkmod Recovery. Just to clarify have you now successfully rooted your device and installed Clockworkmod Recovery? If you haven't rooted your device and installed Clockworkmod Recovery yet the .tar file that you need to flash in Odin can be found here. Once you have rooted your device and installed Clockworkmod Recovery, the KingOS ROM will be a .zip file you do not need to extract anything from the .zip file simply follow the original flashing instructions you came across for the KingOS ROM. As always let me know if you still have questions.

After you flash the rooted system image you will need to install a Superuser app such as SuperSU.

I just finished loading the KngOS rom. So do I have root access now?
background info:
samsung galaxy s3 i9300. Rooted with cyanogenmod Installer: http://beta.download.cyanogenmod.org/install
A while ago I tried flashing a costum rom, however i wasnt fully satistied so went back to cyanogenmod. My SDcard space went from 11gb to 2gb left. I went to recovery (CWM Touch) and formatted system and sdcard (which was a huge mistake I believe). As far as I know, I have no rom installed right now after the format. Ive downloaded MIUI and put it on my external SD and tried flashing it from my external SD. After wiping dalvik, cache and factory reset flashing went well. When I press reboot device CWM says "root access is missing, root device?" Now there are 2 options: "no" and "yes root device (/system/xbin/su)". Both options result in my phone stuck at the boot animation.
I thought because I had no root, I had to flash a stock rom. So I downloaded a stock rom and tried flashing it. CWM said "installation aborted". So right now Im kind of clueless. Can anyone help me and tell me what to do? Ive been searchin this forum for quite a long time now. Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards

Yes, unless it is a repackaged stock rom you must use odin, not CWM to flash it. You could try using archie's rom or one of Wanam's in CWM. Or download a repacked stock that is flashable in CWM.

Good news guys, I flashed CM and boot went well. Thanks for your time and help. Thread can be closed
Hello,I got a big problem on my INTernational S3. (GT-I9300).
I am not new at rooting flashing ROMs etc.
Got my 3rd samsung android device btw.
So the problem :
1. I installed CM using CM installer, official downloaded from sites of CM,without no problems. Now my phone keeps spining on boot logo of CM 11?
I tried to flash normally using .zip file trough recovery ( CWM 6.0.4.6) but CWM keeps saying the ZIP file it´s bad (formated 3 times on FAT 32& 32kb and tried another storage) so i did it from the installer.
Now i got something like eh..stone brick but with BIG problems.
Recovery couln´t not mount /data (or wipe it etc.)
When i tried install backup (before CM install //from STOCK ROM//) it give me error:
Checking MD5 sums....
md5sum: nandroid.md5: No such file or directory
MD5 mismatch
so cant go back to Stock ROM through the recovery.
now i tried odin, succefully went to Download mode by Volume down+power+home but ODIN did not find the phone (PC did)
so i dont know how to make my phone working, now tring to copy some ROMs to SD card but SD adapter not working +fu#k+
If you want, contact me on skype : lehkyp15 or in PM can send some videos.

Hello,I got a big problem on my INTernational S3. (GT-I9300).

Got my 3rd samsung android device btw.
So the problem :
1. I installed CM using CM installer, official downloaded from sites of CM,without no problems. Now my phone keeps spining on boot logo of CM 11?

Twrp is unable to read cm recovery backup and vice versa. You need to flash stock rom then root install recovery(Philz this time ,no problems with him) and flash custom rom. Don't use Cm flash tool, download nightly(or stable) and flash via recovery.
