[Q] Incoming Call Extended Info - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings, I wanted to ask if there's a way to have more info shown about the contact that is currently calling me. I'm on a stock 4.3 Nexus 4 and I couldn't find any settings. What I particulary want is, when someone calls me, I want to see the Group that the caller belongs(the group that I have him assigned through the contacts app). Is there any way to do that on stock android or should I look into custom dialers and such?

[Q] Call log issue -no solution in similar threads

Hey
I just moved from WinMo to Android (Omnia i900 modded). The stock call logger shows all the calls and the messages in it. I want to do 2 things:
1. Clear messages from the call log. - Other threads suggest going to Phone/Contacts/History and then setting to show only the calls, but that is not practical for 1000+ contacts if you're doing that one by one. Another option mentioned is to set to "View By" which is absolutely useless.
2. How to stack/group all the calls made to the same contact together (be it calls to home/work/mobile etc.) - something that was being done in WinMo (up to WinMo 6.5)
Any suggestions people.
I like the stock dialer app, so not much interested in switching to an alternate (except as a last option). Thanks in advance

The only solution i have for you right now is, use another mess app and freeze the samsung mess app
Thanks for the reply. But is there not a mod that is available from a developer which could solve this issue. I believe that this is an issue with Gingerbread nd a lot of people must be having the same complain.
Otherwise, any suggestions on an alternate dialer / sms client which would be the PERFECT alternate for the stock dialer?

This is a custom Samsung call log that does this. The stock gingerbread call log does not show texts with calls, and it also groups calls from same person together in a sub expandable list.
The Samsung call log just stinks is the problem. If only you could load the stock version.

[Q] Show "all" calls option in stock rom contacts-log tab

Is there a modified contacts apk or is it possible to make one to have the option to show all calls in the logs tab instead of calls and text? I don't quite understand why sammy made an option for dialed, recieved, and missed calls but doesn't have an option for all of them combined. I am stock rooted and want to keep it that way(for now) and don't want to download a different style contacts app. So wondering if this is possible or is already available. Thanks
I was also wondering about this. Half the time I get confused as to why so and so called me instead of texting like usual.

[Q] searching good call filter and group manager

Hello list,
Greetings to all....
very new to the android world. Having 2.3.3 on lenevo A60.
I am searching for
1. call-filter - which can blocked calls based on time table. Like a group of caller get busy tone when call me on sat/sun days.. The filter should also have standard features like reject all except contacts/white-list etc.....
2. A group manager which can add ring tones/ block contacts based on group.
Are these inbuilt in 2.3.5 ?
Confused to see a lot of app, hence asking the users.
Thanks

[Q] Add development - forward/divert incoming calls

Dear users,
i'm a new junior developer with no experience on Android.
I would like to ask you (skilled developers) if you think is possible to find a way to develop an app to intercept incoming calls and forward/divert them to another a Google talk, Skype etc. or voip extension through a phone's internet connection (wifi, hsdpa..).
In case is not possible with the official functions, can be done on rooted phones?
[In case there is not chance It maybe possible using a trick/automation like intercept the incoming calls and use the installed app (skype..) to call another contact and forward the voice]
Thanks in advance and sorry if i missed some already present similar thread (i didn t find any)

[Q] Divert calls to voicemail according to groups in my contacts without 3rd party

Hi,
I have all my Google contacts logically split into groups ie work, friends, family etc.
What I'd like to do is be able to leave the phone on after work and be able to divert all work calls to voice mail for example.
Is there a way to do this on the phone natively ?
TIA,
Arfer
Not possible to send to voicemail at selected times natively.
Think I've not been clear enough.Want I'm after is to be able to have groups go to voicemail while other groups work normally ie the phone rings
Cheers,
Arfer
The best anyone has suggested to me is this:
Mr. Number
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...i5ibG9ja2VyIl0.
This doesn't do what I want as it means making whitelists / globally all contacts as filters.
it's along the right lines but is no longer being developed and not for use Gingerbread onwards.
Can't believe this most obvious and helpful of functions is not available or that people aren't hollering out for it.
Everyone of my friends I've asked about this all once I've explained it are amazed it's not available.
Why have groups within Google contacts unless they provide useful functionality ?
