Hi all I have a quick question. I have the stock ME7 version and is rooted. I keep hearing over the internet android 4.3 is coming out on october. so my question is. Can i Flash a stock 4.3 OTA Rooted version on the phone. Or i will have to wait until someone figures out a new way to root android 4.3. sorry for my question. I am still a noob.
You'll have to wait. And it may be a long wait. Every new release will try to patch the last root methods, etc.
If it were I, I would wait until the devs come out with a 4.3 rom you could flash.

Thanks for the response. Yea i figured i will have to wait. Because i was thinking u know how devs root the OTA update and they turn it into a zip. So i figured I can get that rootOTA zip file and flash it. have you heard of that being done. Yea I know what you mean about waiting for a long time for them to figure out a new way to root 4.3.

despite how easy it is to just root my tab 10.1 and just slap the 4.0.4 update on there, i've been holding out for the OTA.
the problem is, it seems like everyone already has the GT-P7510 OTA, but i'm still getting nothing when trying to get a software update
might there be something wrong with my tablet (partially why i'm hesitant to attempt root and flash)? or will i just be the last guy to get the update in the world?

Why wait, just root and get going..........the Samsung stock build still isn't as good as the custom ROMS.

I was going to answer..but then saw this in development. Post in the right sections.
I'm a pretty impatient person when it comes to something I get excited about
I really want JB on my SIII, but I also want to root it so I can fully unleash it's potential. However, I'm unsure if I should wait a couple of days for Kies to show me that there's an update for my phone.
Will it be worth the wait or shall I root now and flash the Poland official? All recommendations are welcome and I'm sorry if I shouldn't have started a whole new thread about it.

Unless you know something we don't there is no guarantee you will get an update in a "couple of days".
So flash the Polish ROM and stop watching for updates.

A day after I got my phone I already rooted it. I would recommend that you root for the apps (titanium backup). Not to mention that you can try out official jb right away. Custom roms also does optimisations to official jb making it even smoother and battery saving.
There's no telling when jb is going to come for other regions so just root and install!!

I have the factory build with CWM, rootkeeper, and root installed. Can I update to ME7 to get the updates benefits and not loose my recovery/root at this point, or am I best to just wait until the rom makers deliver something?

Well please excuse the stupid subject. Apparently I put the captcha there and can't fix it now.

You can flash a stock root deodexed ME7 build, I believe andybones made one. It should be in the development section.
Read. There are a lot of people who all asked or started complaining when they found out that you can't have recovery on the OTA update.
If you take the OTA with all the info in this forum about it... You deserve to lose recovery.

Thanks guys. Saw several posts that it was ok to update but on second examination they only looked at root and not the ability to load alternate roms. I'll hold off until my favorite ROM (SynergyROM) is released with this update, or I will try one of the vanilla ones.
I have no clue how people figure out how to root and unlock bootloaders I'm just one of the lucky guys that get to use the programs that are made to let us be able to do the great stuff we can with android. But since that guy opened sourced bump do you guys think we will ever get stock android L rooted since now maybe LG will be able to patch the root and bump methods or will we be stuck on 4.4?

We aren't going to be stuck on 4.4 either way. If they patch it, someone will eventually release a version that doesn't contain the patch and can be flashed via twrp. Just don't take any OTA updates, otherwise you may lose root forever.

I saw that too. I'm rooted on NG6 now experiencing no problems, but really want lollipop. Any word on how root is going to work with this new build? I apologize in advance if that is a dumb question.

If it works anything like the other GS4's than you will need to flash a pre-rooted lollipop build using Flashfire (or safestrap, but you probably won't be able to access safestrap after flashing lollipop).
I always just followed the directions posted by muniz_ri in the [How-To] root thread in this forum. I guess stay tuned! I didn't use safestrap cause I thought we couldn't.

First step is for someone to capture the ota update.

its a staged rollout, meaning that if it doesn't come to you now it'll come soon
like in the next few days from what i can tell. verizon always does their rollouts like this.
Well, crap. I really really want this update. But no xposed for lollipop touchwiz, no custom ROMs, no deodex, and a one time shot at the root method really kills it for me.

Second step, if you want any chance of root, is to not to take the ota until the firmware can be evaluated.
Yeah, if you're rooted, on whatever bootloader, best to wait and give these guys time to do what it is we're all for. If this is anything like the other carriers, or past OTAs (especially ones since 4.3) you'll b sorry if u get impatient.
I'd help but My phone is rom'd and I can't live with stock touchwiz/ not being able to go back to ng6/nc5. If it were the s3 however...
