Hi, I've always liked Kaiten Mail, as an alternative.
The added good thing with those alt apps is that you can restore many accounts at once with Titanium Backup

My problem with Kaiten Mail and a number of other alternatives is the extremely tortuous way of getting Exchange email to work. I still think the stock email client is good enough. I have configured virtually all my email accounts (including Exchange and gmail) in it without having to wave my hand 7 times to the violet band of the rainbow!

Oh, I guess that remark is fair enough.
I do not need Exchange, so I do not have to suffer through it's setup
Kaiten mail has many options, so i guess it works, but not easily :/

ok folks just finished playing with this for the moment, hows about a galaxy tab email client for the streak
few issues in here though at min , they are listed below,
What is working?
Gmail Setup(also through "Other" setup as IMAP")
Gmail mail loaded
Gmail can send mail
Logging working so it keeps track of what has been sent/received
Rotating to portrait works
Notifications
Yahoo and Hotmail(possibly as well as gmail)
Conversation mode
Deleting messages
Switching between folders within mailbox(click on INBOX)
Exchange Email Fixed
Refresh Button Added
Issues
pop email accounts will add but never show emails, use imap instead as this should work.
ill probly play further with this also, and thanks to celljunkie for helping out this little port
link to the update zip: http://downloads.streakdroid.com/djsteve/tabmail.zip
Had this on my Samsung Captivate earlier and it was very bad. After about 3 days it would just crap out totally.
The only good email.apk i found on the samsung hardware was the lastest email.apk in the JPY roms that are 2.2.1
I think you maybe disappointed putting all this work in and the tab email sucks.
Steve you are a one man wrecking crew! Keep up the great work!

yeah - did it via clockwork - super easy. I tried the beta 1 version last night which was a manual install, but that shouldn't matter... beta 2 installs via clockwork.
ok ive installed the new email client, however i am slightly confused, i just wish to confirm that this just replaces the defult email app, and so there would be no additional email application other then this?
yup just found out for myself.lol
one additional question does anybody know the correct settings to set up a hotmail email account?
seems to keep force closing on me
fixed it, yes you must have them all as imap or it will force close, but wow- this is a much better email client than the standard streak email- and better than gmail app too- would be nice to have a widget that can work with it tho

Solution stolen from modaco forums Tab email client thread(johnston in particular):
"
try setting up your hotmail as exchange using m.hotmail.com and then just use your full email address and password.
you should be able to do this for hotmail.com and .co.uk accounts just make sure m.hotmail.com is your server setting.".
I was struggling with hotmail until used these settings. now it just works.

also from modaco, lol.
Per steve for FC:
"clear data in manage apps"
thanks just done it, with active sync, that messed me up a lil b4 too as because i kept removing the "/" when writing the username or domain section which was silly of me. but yes works brilliantly now

I tried but it says unable to connect to server. Do I use the same (mail.comcast.net) in the imap area and same for (smtp.comcast.net)? It seems when I do a manual setup I get unable to connect. When I do a auto setup it works but unable to receive but could send mail.

Anyone get gmail to work with exchange?
I just installed this and set up my work exchange account as it had been with the stock email program. All I get is a "connection error" message. I know the settings are correct. Is there something I need to do to enable exchange that is not readily obvious in the settings menu, or is this just a bug that needs to be fixed?
Thanks
I keep getting fc,s with it. Ill wait till it is more stable but hatsoff to dj steve

I found the CM7 email app to be pretty flaky for me. Sometimes it can't sync, or it'll keep grabbing emails that I've previous deleted days/weeks ago.
I have several emails, hotmails, gmails, ISP email, etc. So the default gmail or hotmail one isn't enough.
[Edit]
Found an app in a different thread called K-9 Mail
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fsck.k9&hl=en
Just been playing with it for an hour or so, and I seems to be a fantastic email app.
Enhanced Email is best imo.

Enhanced Email is good. So is K-9 Mail, which I use.
Depends on how you are setting up your email account...
If using Exchange, Enhanced Email is pretty nice.
However, if using POP 3, I found Enhanced Email to have the same flaky bugs you are experiencing now.
I ended up using K-9 Mail. I did not like the icon for K-9 so I also installed K-9 Icon. It is a more professional icon/widget that just has an envelope with a message counter (although the counter only updates every minute). Plus K-9 Mail/K-9 Icon are free. I like free.
It's clearly not advertised well, but Kaiten is the new and improved version of K-9. I've been using it for over a year now.

It should be noted that Kaiten (a play on K-10, the successor to K-9), like Enhanced Email, is a paid app, while K-9 is still free. Nothing against paid apps, mind you--I use quite a few. I just wanted to make it clear.
I have been using the native client but I hate in notifications that it only shows one message unread not numerous ones. Also when you click it. It only takes you to inbox not to message.
Anyone know of how to fix these settings or another mail client?

I really like MailDroid free.
You can set different tones for different times of the day, and per email contact. Works great, if you want to have a really loud annoying tone from important people.

the email app on the phone handles multiple accts of IMAP, POP, Exchange, etc.
They're separate apps natively...I'm basically looking for an equivalent to the All Inboxes function on iOS...

the email (not gmail) app will handle gmail as imap or activesync as well as any other accts. in a single or combined view.

MailDroid will do this, but its not a unified inbox, if thats what you are looking for.

You're right! Didn't know that...thanks for the info!
I use enhance email. I'm using m.google.com for gmail as exchange on 2 Accts. I really like it. Has combined inbox, fit to screen (mobile view) which was really important to me and I'm sure this app does more than my simple mind understands

I don't think this will do mutiple accounts, but by far the best Exchange mail app I've used is TOUCHDOWN by Nitro.
One of the things I LOVE about it, as opposed to using the built in Android mail app, is that any 'remote' admin features are ONLY applied to the Touchdown app.
ie: if your Exchange admin requires a password to get into your mail... if you use the standard android, you have to type it in every time you unlock your phone.... if you use Touchdown you only need to type it in when opening Touchdown.
And most importantly, last I checked, if the Admin wants they can remote wipe the DEVICE if you use the built in mail app.. with Touchdown they can only wipe the mail app's data.
I've used it for several years across multiple companies and it's pretty damn awesome. (It's not just mail btw.. it's also exchange calendars, and Tasks.. and they sync with the built in calendars and almost all widgets).
I am looking for a good email client for my phone and tablet. I have tried K9 and the Samsung clients but looking for something better. Anyone have some good ones?

Guess I should have added that this is for a non-gmail account. I do use gmail for my gmail account but I have a few other email accounts that I need a good client for.

I use touchdown by nitrodesk. My favorite and I've tried about 6. Moxier would be #2. though this is for exchange mail. so YMMV.

I vote Touchdown as well, but...................
Beware the sent emails that go missing completely (no success). Never fails to be a long and important message that disappears with no chance of recovering.
Also beware the included contacts app. Cannot create / nor edit a new exchange contact. Actually you can, but it will not sync with exchange.
There is a work around for this one.

I am a huge fan of AquaMail. It's so much better than MailDroid or K-9, the more "praised" mail apps. Try it out and I think you'll be happy.
Touchdown and Gmail here. Manage work contacts with touchdown and personal contacts via gmail. Keeps things nice and clean
I use MailDroid for my very finicky school email that doesn't work with a lot of other email apps. Never had a problem with it.
I see a lot of people recommending TouchDown, but I believe AquaMail to be superior to it. I've also tried MailDroid, K9 and they aren't as good as AquaMail.

Hello Everyone,
I moved from Xperia to Pixel and i really miss the Xperia's email app. I used to set it up to access email's from work (Exchange server) and i could see the calendar on Google's calendar as well. I know i can do this if i set up Gmail to access work email but Gmail has issues syncing Sub-Folder and the Outlook app is well plain ugly and does not sync with Google calendar.
Do you guys know of any email app that works like Xperia's email app?
Regards
Sanjay
I've not used Xperia mail, so cannot comment on how it compares, but fory work exchange account I will use nothing but Nine. It's awesome and handles sub folders great and also integrates with Google Calendar. It's not cheap, but it is so worth the money IMO.

Imagine Nine being made by Sony and being offered for free, preinstalled on Xperia phones
I am looking for a free app and if i do not find one, will have to settle with 9
I have been using Spark. It is new to Android but, has been out on iOS for a long time. I got use to using it on my iPad and I really like it.
My favourite email app is the LineageOS email app. It can be downloaded from APKMirror. If you use Swift Installer, it won't be able to theme it to dark though, so you might need to install Swift Dark or Swift Black with Substratum if you want a dark theme.
