Cannot format /emmc - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I'm new here!
I'm having some problems with my S2 with NeatRom SuperLite. When I try to access to gallery or download some files, I get the error message: "Not enough space. Delete unused items..... etc" . I found that I have a .Trash-1000 folder that has lot (!!!) of 2/3 Gb files! The problem is that I can't delete this folder, if I try with a file explorer I get a "can't delete this file" or "permission denied", if I try from Linux terminal I get "file system is in read-only mode".
I also tried to format /emmc from recovery or simply re-installing NeatRom, with no results.
What can I do?

okey i had this problem to,
step 1:
got to storage or if you get a notifaction about formatting your internal sd card or external sd card
step 2:
reboot
or
step 1:
downlaod root explorer
step 2:
locate your sddisk1 or sddisk0 or exdisk (external disk) and you see that is says ro(read-only), now that needs to be rw (read-write)
step 3:
reboot
or
step 1:
use any recovery mode, not the stock, use like cwm
step 2:
go to mount/storage
step 3:
mount everthing
srry i did this everthing, and suddenly i got fixed, i don't nog exact what was the fix ;D i hope it is fixed

The sII mounting paths seems to be different of other phones.
storage/SdCard0 - Internal Storage
storage/ExtSdCard - External Card Storage
storage/UsbDriveA to UsbDriveF - External storage connected by Usb Port using OTG Cable
/ - ROM Storage
I recomend ES File Explorer as your file explorer

+1
I was with same problem with teamxd rom. I could not delete any file. I made a full factory reset with erase all storage and get bootloop. After that I flashed many different roms but in all roms my all audio/video apps not running smoothly. my bad luck. Hope you get right guidelines here.

[Q]E:can't mount /sdcard/

After using Odin, I have this problem
'E:Can't mount /Cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /Cache/recovery/log....'
Then I wipe it. It is success.
But when I choose zip from sdcard
It said E:can't mount /sdcard/
How can I solve it?
I can't boot my gs2 now!
Answer me please
Just try to reflash with odin most of the times this solves the problem.

I can't boot and can't read my internal sd, how can I flash another rom?
Using CWM, you can mount /sdcard.
Check mounts and storage menu.
Also try "Mount Usb storage", connect to pc and check if comp detects your phone.

Try flashing one of the rooted kernels using Odin.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Currentlyhaving the same issue.
This is a kernel issue. It happened to one of the 2.x Siyahkernel beta versions. Simplest solution is to boot the phone and use CWM to flash a different kernel using the tar format (instead of the zip format good for use in recovery mode) (flash a kernel version that's known to be without this problem).
If you can't get past the boot screen, just use odin. But then if you can't get past the boot screen you probably need to flash a ROM over anyway.
I am having the same issue with my internal SDCARD
I cannot access my internal SDCARD. When I insert my external (/removeable) sdcard, recovery sees that as the SDCARD.
I have tried to mount/ dismount/ usmount the internal SDCARD - same error.
THIS is the TMOBILE T989 and we got it yesterday - brand new.
So, I did get it to work from the removeble SDCARD, but I am so use to using the internal SDCARD on my VIBRANT as the primary resource for ROMS, etc, and the external SDCARD as a backup - that it is kinda strange to work now with only one SDCARD (the ext).
It must be something in the recovery that does not see the primary SDCARD...
CAn anyone help, please?
Note that CWM 4 and CWM 5 behave differently with respect to internal and external sd cards (well CWM 4 simply doesn't do external sd card). It'd be your best interest to flash a kernel that comes with a CWM version 4.x.x and for sure internal sdcard will work.
In CWM4, internal sdcard is /sdcard. External card is /emmc. (you can only format external sdcard but not write to it nor mount it.
In CWM5, you can restore nandroid backup from internal sdcard (but you can flash updates from both) . And in the CWM app, default backup location is the external sdcard.
Those who are having problems with CWM 5, flash this version of CWM from your CWM!
http://www.mediafire.com/file/h1yia0gt1sbnbie/cwm-4.0.1.5.zip
You will have cwm 4.

[HELP] Can't mound /emmc in Philz recovery

SOLVED! See 2nd Post
Hi,
Galaxy S II 16GB 2.5 Years old.
I friend came to me with a problem : Waze can't start because it complains no access to sdcard (internal, no external present)
A bit fiddling and I see /storage/sdcard0 is mounted as RO!
I remount as RW, and I can now start waze, but as soon as I use the phone further, the mount reverts to RO.
I try to format it via recovery (philz) but it fails deleted odd named files in DCIM/Camera/cache.
So I try to delete the files myself but it fails.
Next up, I mount usb storage in recovery, and run windows Checkdisk, it finishes while fixing some stuff, the format still doesn't work.
Eventually using Minitool I am able to format it. BUT, now, when I boot android, it says the internal storage is damange, and attempt to format it via Android fails always.
Still, when I boot into philz, and mount usb storage, i can browse it via my W7 PC, copy and delete files freely. So I guess something is not mounted or formatted correctly. I decide to reinstall stock rom with Odin + repartition.
So I take pit file from a thread that aims to increase /data at the expense of internal storage, and I find the stock pit there and use it.
Rom flashes fully, but sdcard still not working.
What I want to do is :
Boot into Recovery and use Android commands to properly mount/map this so the phone recognizes it.
I have linux knowledge, I know how to get around a linux shell and use VI and permissions etc. I also messed sometimes with fstab on a pc to set up mount points, so I am not a complete stranger. I am rooted and need help
Any help would be appreciated.
So, I searched the net for quite a few hours, and found this post :
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2147315&p=-1&#bottom
Which solved my problem
I registered on that forum to thank the dude!
This command solve my problem :
newfs_msdos /dev/block/vold/259:3
I knew it will work the moment I saw the 259:3 which I saw in logcat that android cannot format.
Good work finding a fix yourself Hopefully other people in the same situation will find it useful

[Q] [HELP] [D605] See "sdcard", cant mount it...

Hi !
I have CM11 20140907 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2752715 ), with 6.0.4.6 CWM. I have tried to repair it by installing CM again, but it doesnt works. I can open 'sdcard0' (its not a internal storage, i had music on my sd card and anyway i have it) by file manager/root browser but i cant mount sdcard in recovery. In recovery i can see internal storage, but cant mount sd card. I have other ROM and GAPPS (Parandroid) on 'sdcard0' on my phone, but cant flash it (cuz i have only internal storage).
I cant connect USB and open files on PC (i see just charging).
EDIT. I can connect through ADB
EDIT2. That means the sdcard0 = SD card and i cant mount it in recovery. Internal storage i can open in recovery but not in phone.
Done.
I had followed this :
PHP:
androidforums.com/vital-all-things-root/813462-how-swapping-internal-external-sd-cards.html
On D605 that was something like this:
PHP:
dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard0 auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc3/mmc_host
I had changed it:
PHP:
dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard1 auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc3/mmc_host
Sorry for my bad english and unawareness (translated from Google Translate, i dont knew that word XD )
So, that worked only for first time i started phone.
Now, i can connect into adb, in recovery too. But i cant connect to USB, I see only charging.. (ADB works, UMS not)
And, sdcard0=external, i cant mount it in recovery, cant open by file manager.
Real sdcard0 i cant see in file manager, but can do system backup in recovery (even if iremove SD card from phone)
I tried to update via sideload:
PHP:
adb kill-server
adb usb
[I]something about ports[/I]
error: device not found
Please, help, im noob :crying:

Internal storage became read-only

Hello!
I have Samsung Galaxi S2 GT-I9100
Android version 4.1.2
I got root access, CWM.
Got SSH server installed for terminal.
Recently I tried to download an audio file over 3G. The download couldn't be completed and after then I wouldn't be able to download any file. I discovered I could also not delete any file from my internal storage which is sdcard0.
When I tried to change permissions on sdcard0 using SSH I typed:
Code:
chmod -R 777 sdcard0
and got this:
Code:
chmod: sdcard0: Read-only file system
Please help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Perhaps mounting internal storage using CWM (mounts & storage) helps? Greetings

Tried "mount /sdcard", nothing changed. I also tried "fixing permissions" option.
Try to plug your phone on a pc, right click your internal sd, choose tools and fix errors (run chkdsk on it).
Do it on your external sd too if you have one.

You're welcome.
Sadly, be prepare to do it more and more as the phone ages...
It happens when some I/O error occurs when for example the phone crash, or when the memory ages and get more easly corrupted.
Others symptoms that this "fix" can solve is spontaneous reboot, phone geting very hot without reason... well strange behaviors related to errors which occured on the internal/external memory.

[GUIDE]Increase Internal memory or link app data to secondary storage of sdcard

HEY GUYS!
Today I am going to explain how to Increase Internal memory or link app data to secondary storage of sdcard.
Before getting into the process
REQUIREMENTS:good:
1)Rooted device
2)sdcard with parted as FAT32 and EXT2 or EXT3
3)Link2sd APP
4)Root Explorer APP
5)patience and a little knowledge in android
Your Android device should be rooted and sdcard should be parted as FAT32 and EXT2 or EXT3.
Now install Link2sd app and and open it you get popup that to select secondary sdcard format you have to select EXT2 or EXT3 which you have created. Then you will get a message mount scripts created then reboot the device.
After reboot install Root Explorer app and open it and press mount R/W at top and give root permissions
now,it will look like mount R/O
go to /data
you will see folders app,app-private,dalvik-cache
move them to /data/sdext2
after moving completes select one of the folder
and long press it or at bottom right side of the page press that dotted button then a big options list opens now press link to this folder
Now,go to /data and press create link
you notice folder linked
repeat this for app-private,dalvik-cache.
Let's create link for data of apps for that create folder in /data/sdext2 and name it data
select a file from /data/data and move it to /data/sdext2/data and create link where you brought the file
But be carefull do not move superuser data so that superuser will forcestop due to lack of data and you need to reboot to get back superuser function back
If everything was done correctly then your internal memory will increase after rebooting device:laugh:.
There are so many forums based on this method in xda but i made some changes in here . Be carefull I doesnt take any responsibility caused to your device.
THIS WAS MY FIRST THREAD SO THERE MAY BE MISTAKES IN SCRIPT SORRY FOR THAT
Sorry guys?
In the above post:good: we have learned how to mount secondary sd-card partition and link data files.
But the main point is that the method works upto ANDROID 5.1.1 LOLLIPOP only this method is not working with ANDROID 6.0 MARSHMALLOW.
In android 6.0 system itself asks us to set sd-card as internal or portable.
*portable:sd-card will mounted for just storage for photos, music not for apps data but you can connect to pc and send files in mtp mode and no need to be formated to mount.
*internal:sd-card will be mounted for apps data but not shown in mtp mode to transfer files from pc and aslo need to be formated for mounting if we insert partitioned sd-card then the partition will be erased.
*If we insert a partitioned sd-card the system says as corrupted sd-card but after reboot the primary, secondry sd-card partitions will be mounted as portable sd-cards and if you select for internal type the partition will be erased.
After all this Link2sd cant mount the secondary partition.
Solution is in the post #3
FINALLY HERE IS THE SOLUTION FOR MARSHMALLOW
1)Download "Apps2SD" free app or pro app from playstore.
2)Open the app and grant root access for it.
3)Now in the menu press "Partition Tool (Adoptable)" and create partitions of sdcard as you wish and then reboot and again from app menu press "Link apps to SD card" and choose the secondary sd-card partition you have created.
4)Then finally the mount script has been created for sd-card.
5)Now you can access link2sd also without creating mount script again
PRESS THUMBS-UP BUTTON IF THIS HELPED
