I've had this problem too, so try this. Click on roaming, and if that doesn't work, take you sim card out and put it back in, and see if that. good luck! Ultimately I think it's a card problem, and if it happens to me again, I'm going to Verizon and getting another sim

Sure you can but you will still fry your LTE SIM card.
No need to do that on a 4G device.
Hmm I just read that the frying of the sim card is faults....would like to get more of ppls input on this...

Once again, this is incorrect. It will not damage your sim card in any way. It will simply disconnect. The whole "*228 fries your SIM" thing is from way back from when the Bolt first came out and has since been corrected.
Ok but that still doesn't answer my question....if I'm rooted and running gingerbread custom Rom can I *228 without messing anything up on my phone....

Just tried dialing *228 again for the sake of this thread to see if anything has changed. It still disconnects almost immediately, but now theres a message that says "A Verizon Wireless SIM has activated your service and has updated your phones roaming capabilities". Hope that helps you.

I did it literally just to see if anything had changed since the last time I did it(Which was a genuine mistake when I first got the phone). Nothing has ever happened any time I have dialed *228. If it were to invalidate/fry/immolate/otherwise destroy my SIM, I have extras, as well as two back up phones. I was trying to prove my point that dialing *228 from a 4G LTE device will no longer harm your SIM. Calm down with your insults, brother.

Yes and yes. I'm running Das Bamf 2.1. I really can't stress enough, though, that as far as I can tell, dialing *228 doesn't do ANYTHING either positive or negative other than give the message I posted earlier. I jumped into the testing menu and snooped around and it changes nothing. So unless there's some roaming setting on the network side that I can't see, there's nothing different.

Does the new OTA rooted still fix problems with the sim card?

I've always had problems with the DNAs sim card not being found but I've noticed this happening much much more than usual. Its annoying having to constantly restart my phone so it will recognize the sim. On the additional information about the OTA it says it fixes sim card problems, will it still accomplish this goal with a rooted ROM based off the ota?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I updated to the ota and it still happened to me. Just once. Went on my Verizon wireless account and changed device to the same phone, rebooted and all is well. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. Good luck!

Just an update... Happened to me again just now....lol

It is supposed to fix the issue but I assume it only fixes a specific issue, so its possible you can still have the issue if your sim is dirty or broken. The update is just a radio so just get it and flash it.
Just a radio...exactly what I wanted to hear. Why download a whole new ROM if I can change up my radio. Thanks guys, if only there was a way to flash radios without fast boot:/

Help fix 4G :(

Im going to explain this problem in a depth as i can.
I am s-off'd via jtagged, rooted and have twp recovery. I am on newest radio running NOS M7 v2.0.3
I can only connect to 3G for some reason with it reading eHRPD.
i do not know if it was reading this before i started the process of rooting since i never turn the phone completely on once i got it back.
So after some reading and advice i downloaded LTE on off to force 4G
It worked but at the cost of losing my mobile network causing me to not be able to make calls or send out text but i have 4G i can get on the internet.
Atm i am plagued with having 3G and service or using 4G w/o service... and this is a problem.
Also while on 4G it reads RSRP if that helps.
Idk if this is a hardware problem from me getting my device jtagged (which would suck since that means im stuck with it) or if it can be fixed.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated since im getting annoyed

I had the same problem when I got my phone back. Took it back to Verizon and got a new phone. I tried everything and nothing worked. It is like something happened to the radio. Tried to flash a new one nothing. Still haven't heard back from mtv on trying to get a refund.

Sigh thats something i wanna avoid so Ill just have to stay stuck until moonshine comes out. I really like sense 5 and I don't wanna go back to 4+... Then I'll get a replacement I guess.
As far as RUU to stock and seeing if I was on LTE I already did all that. I was almost looking into build.props but I assumed that wouldnt work either. So guess I'm just stuck on 3G unless it randomly wanna come back which I doubt unless somebody comes up with a solution besides just getting a replacement.

Correct they are free, but the guy I tend to see at the Verizon store always seems to launch that hboot screen everytime I go in there. He did when I had the SIM card swapped earlier in the year as it would disconnect from my network several times a day. So I just want to be on the safe side.
I had my SIM card replaced twice on my resound and both times went to the store without relocking the bootloader or anything. Didn't have any issues. They programmed the new card and I was on my merry way. Maybe call em first and without giving any of ur account information ask if u can get a new SIM card if uv rooted ur phone. It would suck to go thru that process if it's not necessary but I can certainly understand the better safe than sorry approach. The phone call would definitely be worth the time though imo.

So I got the issue resolved without a new SIM card. So here is a combo of things I did to resolved the issue. I have everything in the link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338810
I think it was resolved after I flashed my radio and then I went back to stock just in case I have any more issues in the next week. As if I do I will go back to the Verizon store and swap out my phone. But I'd rather be S-ON in case that happens and be that way for a bit. Plus I wanted to test the S-ON for future purposes of in case I needed to get back there I knew how to.

Why doesn't twrp show my zipped files?

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
It does matter what modem you use and it depends on your location. ANY and ALL modems should give you phone service at least. So you have a problem. A problem talked about much many months ago. Again Backup, wipe completely, and install the factory ATT ROM using odin. Before you set it up do a factory reset for ****z and giggles. Verify that you have phone service. Then install recovery and superuser. Then install a T-mobile modem. Verify you have data and phone service. Then install the ROM of your choice. Do not reinstall a modem.
And please quit posting everywhere. You have been told what to do by a few now and all you do is rant everywhere. Maybe you should have purchased a T-mobile phone to use on T-mobile and saved yourself the trouble.
Yea but they charged more for the t-mobile version ima prolly wait and sell this one for 300 and put that with my check 2 hrs pf battery life is sad i thought the note would be better then that lol but i already did all that and i know im in a t-mobile 4g area cuz i had a t-mobile phone before and i tried all the modems they are not compatible for this phone im thinking the guy lied to me i think o might have a foreign phone again

this will instruct you how to unlock from ATT (getting a code from them) then unlock.
just read it the yesterday as a matter of fact. RANGER CAPTAIN is the author of the thread. in the first post, scroll down a bit and it is listed with some MOD's.
titled "UOCKING STEPS"
once unlocked, then you can put your Tmobile SIM in. as he states this only needs to be done once. you can then flash other ROM's and the process should stick.

by the way, if you e spending a lot of time in recovery or constantly flashing something, your battery is going to SUPER SUCK.
your battery should be in the higher end of charged when flashing. recommended 70% or better. could probably get away with 55 or 60 though. again, every time you flash, you take a hit.
Ah ok but a friend of mine used it today it was fully charged went from 100% to 5% in like an hr and 45 min and i was reading on the sim unlock this phone was already unlocked when i purchased it that's how i was able to get t-mobile on this phone i get 4g but it doesn't stay connected i have to restart a lot to get it connected again and most of the time i have no bars so idk maybe i should stop buying unlocked phones lol

[Q] No 4G LTE after flashing Cyanogenmod 10.1

After flashing Cyanogenmod 10.1 I have only been able to connect to 3G and cannot connect to 4G LTE. Does anyone know how to get LTE to work on Cm10.1?
Try doing a full wipe. Data/cache/dalvik, reflash CM.

Were you ever able to regain LTE? This has happened to me as well. I've tried flashing back to stock, changing settings using *#*#4636#*#*, and a couple of others. Still nothing. Hate the idea of relying on 3G.

Try putting your Sim card in someone else's phone that has LTE. If they only get 3G, it's your card. Of they still get 4G, it's something else with your phone causing the problem.

Something similar is happening to me. I'm on Carbonrom 1.8. 4g just stopped working. Have been reading around trying to get fixes. Got a new SIM card from Verizon and it still didn't fix it.
In my phone status it says I'm on CDMA - eHRPD:14, I believe this indicates I truly am on 3g. If it were 13 it'd be 4g. I think I have that right. I haven't come across much that's helpful although it seems this isn't that rare of an issue. Trying to fix as much of it as I can on my own. I've yet to revert back to stock. Have tried going to Beanstown, that did more harm than good (broke sms and didn't go to 4g).

Beans ROM is basically stock if you went to that and still didn't have 4G then there is something wrong with your phone. Try the dialer fix (Dialing the number posted above) and if that doesn't work I would start thinking about a warranty replacement.

Most likely would have happened anyways. Rooting and ROMing don't touch the modems that control your cell signal.

Same thing happened to me. Verizon changed it for free.

This alone did not work...however, I got a new sim card after doing this and I'm back on 4g. Got fixed a bit ago but was unable to post. Thanks for the help. No 4g was bugging me, but unfortunately it means I'm stock for the time being
