Possible to make custom splash screen? - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

I did a search but didn't find any info specific to the p769. Can it be done? Just made a custom boot animation of my son in his jolly jumper looking to ditch the lg splash screen now too.

Look in the app threads, someone posted a link with a great tool to make them. I would look for it but I'm tired and going to bed.

The tool is EZ splash screen flasher and image converter. I dont know much about U-boot but this tool can extract the splash image and convert it for modification. Also it can convert your own splash image for the splash screen format.

Sounds like this is for HTC devices. I believe Kuma when he says it can't be done on our device or at least it is too in depth to mess with uboot. Thanks tho

yeah i wish there was a way to extract the image. it woul be cool to make a bunch of diff splash screens.

Sure would

Tired of the AT&T boot up? Here is a better one.

A bootanimation.zip and shutdownanimation.zip made to sport the LG Optimus G(E970) and its S4pro CPU. I haven't tested it on any other models, so proceed at your own risk.
Uploading a preview to youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t_47gDGCxE&feature=youtu.be
TO INSTALL:
You must first be rooted
Download the two zip folders
Paste them into /system/media
DO NOT forget to backup your original boot/shutdownanimation.zip folders (if you need a copy of them let me know and I will upload them.)
And you are finished
Instructions on rooting and more can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006946&highlight=root
soo, just flash in recovery?
Put the zip files in the /system/media folder. And it works like a charm.

Just like he said. Make sure to back up your old boot/shutdownanimation.zip folders so you don't lose them. I just added .bak at the end of them

You have to be rooted for it to work. Then I would recommend using root explorer to paste them into the system/media folder

It's something I stumbled on by accident. Much like the pinch to zoom function on the home screen that will hide all the icons and the ability to resize and change your app icons by holding down on them and then touching the purple thing in the upper right hand corner.

[BootAnimation] LG Optimus G / Snapdragon S4 (Dark)

I took a few moments to invert its420oclock's LGOG boot animation and thought I would share!
All credit goes to its420oclock :good::good:
YouTube Preview:
DO NOT FLASH IN RECOVERY!!
---- REPEAT ----
DO NOT FLASH IN RECOVERY!!
TO INSTALL:
Download bootanimation.zip & shutdownanimation.zip
Move to phone memory (or SDCard)
Use RootExplorer to copy & paste both zip files into /system/media
(If you want to keep your original boot/shutdown animations as backups, add .bak to their file name before pasting the new animations)
Here's another version... Animations are slowed down slightly and the shutdown animation is reversed, so the OG logo gets smeared, then erased.

Another way to install custom ROM?

This might be a dumb question but since unlocking the bootloader
is so hard maybe we should try to find a way to get past the LG Security error without
unlocking.
The phone checks for images signed by LG on boot up. Unless LG decides to release custom roms we're stuck with the wonky method.
Sent from my LG-P769 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
And there is no idea what the LG signature is/looks like? We need to get someone from LG who is like a whistle blower lol.

There is the bootstrap (i think thats what its called) allowing you to dual boot your stock and custom rom. But that needs a good dev to port it to this phone.
