I tried 2 profiles so far and they both don't work. The "lockscreen off when connected to certain wifi" and the "turn wifi on when near a specific cell tower". I follow video guides for both, and they're simple enough, that I don't believe I made any mistakes. Yet, they're not working.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting I need to enable first?
Did our install secure setting and it's helper?

works great on my GS4. It may help if you elaborate on what exactly isnt working. did you update the profile with your SSID?
You need to install secure settings plugin from play store.
I currently have tasker setup to disable my pin lock when connected to my home network

I created a profile in tasker. This should work but I have not tested it.
You will need to import the project.
- press/hold home button in tasked
- click import: pattern
- click untrusted
- not WiFi connected
- ssid: "input wireless network name"
- click trusted
- not WiFi connected
- ssid : "Input wireless network name"
- turn both profiles on
Hope that works

Hmm. I'll have to look into that one. But I use Automateit instead. So far I really like it, I feel it's got a more user friendly interface than tasker, but my only complaint is that when I set it to silence my phone at work, and at the end of the day it sets the volume back, text messages are still silent, so it takes a reboot to get it back. So I just set it to reboot 1 minute after the sound is set to turn back on.

I'm sorry, but Llama is in no way more powerful.
It may be easier to use, but as far as power goes, Tasker has much more. It has the ability to do more things based on more "states".

When does the WiFi turn off? Immediately after the screen does, or 15 minutes after that, or after a few hours?
There is a trade-off between keeping devices like WiFi on and extending battery life. Android prefers the latter and tries to go into suspend mode if it can. If you want to keep WiFi on all the time, you'll have to keep a wakelock active using some of the apps from Market which are designed to do this.
To see what I mean, try this:
Start the default Android music player and set it to play something in a loop. The default music player will set a wakelock and prevent the system from going into suspend mode. This should keep your WiFi active as long as the music plays.
Thanks.. Any suggestions on a app?

I never use such apps, so I can't recommend any. You can, of course, also set a wake lock from the command line. Install the Superuser app from Market, if not already installed, and then inside a Terminal Emulator window, type:
To set a wake lock:
Code:
$ [B]su[/B]
# [B]echo user_lock > /sys/power/wake_lock[/B]
To remove the (same) wake lock:
Code:
$ [B]su[/B]
# [B]echo user_lock > /sys/power/wake_unlock[/B]
The "user_lock", above, can be any word you want, but, you have to use the same word for both setting and then unsetting the lock. Ie., don't use "user_lock" when setting and "xyzzy" when unsetting. Also, only type the stuff in bold.
Hi!
On my security options for my lock-screen on my Samsung Galaxy S3, i've been able to choose different options like swipe, pin code, password etc.
Now somewhat, I can't. Anyone familiar with this? It tells me this: "disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage".
I would appreciate if someone would help me out here, as I want to change this. Thanks.
Try forcing an update of busybox from within the Superuser app. Otherwise, you must have inadvertently changed a setting somewhere.

Thanks for the post joaksle. Deleting my VPN settings also fixed the problem for me. Weird why these settings caused the lock screen options to be disabled!
It's because corporate VPNs have security policies set by their admins, which cause the device to disable certain features. The same thing happens if you set up an Exchange email account. I think that the policies are set by the company IT admin as per company requirements, so you won't see the same behaviour with every VPN or exchange account. Of course I might be wrong about it depending on the company, so someone please correct me I am. The idea seems to be that pattern unlock and face unlock are relatively easier to crack than a traditional PIN code lock, so they disable these methods and allow only the PIN lock (or more methods depending on the policy).

Hey guys/gals, here is a fix for the VZW GS4 that resolves the issue of WiFi hotspot tethering. In the latest update, you now get an errors message that checks for an active subscription and then gives you an error and turns off the hotspot. Here are 2 methods I found.
Method 1: Download any app that allows you to freeze/defrost packages. If you cannot find one or do not have one, download an app called System Tuner by 3c. You have to find a package called "SPG" (system package). Freeze this package and it will prevent the phone from checking for a subscription service. Run your non-factory hotspot app. It will crash and maybe freeze for the first time, and then exit, just reopen it and it should then work.
Method 2: Using System Tuner, find the package called "SPG" and click on it so that it becomes highlighted. Then click "Details" so that it brings up the info about the app. It should show a list of packages under the "Activites" section (near the bottom). Uncheck the box labeled "NewSPGActivity". After this, you can run your hotspot app and it should crash/freeze for the first run. After that, it should run smoothly.
I hope this works for you all. If you have any questions or issues, just reply to this thread. Don't forget to give me a thanks!
Note: Do not use the built-in wifi hotspot toggle switch, it will crash. Download an app from the market to toggle it.
Note: If you cannot access the settings by clicking on the Hotspot notification, do this: settings>more networks>mobile hotspot.
Note: I am running ME7 with 4.2.2 JellyBean and stock rom.

If you are trying to run the hotspot from the built it button, it will crash. Use an external app for your hotspot. I use "1-click tether" at the moment. I'm going to do some more looking right now.

I just use the toggle. Then, after that hold down the home button for recent apps and go right back to what I was doing...
Yes, was trying to use the built in button and the app crashed. I haven't had any problems with third party tether toggle apps. After getting the subscription check and hitting the home button I am good to go.

FoxFi uses your data plan, so if you don't have unlimited data it will cost you a lot of money. The technique I'm using prevents the phone from checking if you have an active subscription or not. Also, FoxFi limits how long you can use it continuously if you don't purchase the pro version. I used to use FoxFi before i rooted my phone.
On VRUAME7 build hack is not required. Toggle the built-in Wifi hotspot on and as soon as the subscription check message comes up just press the home button and it will go in the background but you will be able to still use tethering.

IF you are correct, you still have to deal with the message every time you want to tether. Also, since you have to hit the home button, if you want to change your setting or anything then you have to go back into the app and deal with the message again. This just makes it easier. Your idea just avoids the issue, mine fixes it. I wasn't trying to be rude or anything. Have a good day!

Viber needs only a few KB/s (or MBs for calls) . Other apps need more ( i don't use and don't know about what's up)
It doesn't need an account. (for hangouts you need to have your friends gmail / fb needs ...fb accounts )
And you can do some funny staff. Draw/emoticons/sound clip
