Hi. It's me again.
I am searching for a great tethering solution. Even with GB, I can tether not for long with 3g. I tried wifi hotspot but cannot receive connections after 5 minutes. But when I remove tethering, my 3g was really working on my phone. I tried everything even I configured /system/etc/apns-conf.xml but not really helping. My mother's Galaxy Young can handle tethering at any place and anytime. I was wondering how our devices cannot handle well at that. Please tell me agreat solution. I need a stronger tethering between my PC and with my phone.
Thanks.

I've never used wifi tethering so I don't know about this. But I read somewhere that you need to edit a database column which has a regional default value. Try asking at the generic firmware threads.

I tried generic firmware. No luck. I tried editing databases. No luck. All I meant was I don't actually got connection with wifi tethering. After some minutes, 3g won't got download signal anymore. Tethering is so weak for 3g.

Hey everyone. I have a problem connecting via wifi. When I first bought my vibrant I was able to connect just fine on stock rom. Now I have done all the rooting and flashing many times. Tried many roms. Im on nero v3 right now. Every rom I tried I was not able to connect through wifi at all. I don't use wifi calling or need it. I just want to be able to browse through wifi. When I go to turn on wifi it keeps looping from connecting to disconnecting and no wifi icon pops up at all. My router does have a security and I entered the right password but still no connection. Can somebody help??? Maybe im doing something wrong here. Again it has done the same with any rom I've tried.

I had to get off the 80211.n to get it work. The roms have all done this so far.
Even my wifes stock vibrant was effected by my phone.
Then I just swapped my older router back in. G network. And it works.
All I know. I have never seen this answered.
All they do is ask have you done this or that.
Not one person has ever fixed it for me. Sorry.
Lastly seems to work if you disable security on the router.
That sucks.

Hmm I can't remember if my router is g or n. Im gonna have to check. Ur right tho I searched all over and can't find anyone with the same problem. Closest I came across is the wifi calling problem that everyone has. I even downloaded a supposedly good wifi calling apk for ****s and giggles but that didn't help either. Its irritating

I know this sounds silly but when this happened to me, restarting the modem, then the router, then try connecting again. This did the trick for me. Just be sureties do it in this order. Hope this helps.

Hi guys, in this days i have noticed a problem with my gsII.
Sometimes I have the gsII connected to my router but internet connection doesn't work.
I'll try to explain better what i mean... I start wifi on my gsII and use internet connection without problem. Then I set the phone in standby mode leaving wifi on. When after a while i want to use internet connection, it doesn't work. The telephone is still connected to my router but i can't use internet on the phone.
The only way to make internet connection work is to disable wifi e then reactivate it.
This is really frustrating....
I've got the telephone from three months but only now I'm noticing this problem because first I used to disable the wifi and activate it only when i need it.
Am I the only to have this problem? Is there a solution?
Thanks to everyone in advance... any help would be appreciated
A video is more than thousands of words, so this is an "example video" of the bug:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4um-AqLk1jw
Test it with a different router, i.e. Cisco E4200.
It would a good idea but i have to buy a new router or go to some friend's house for 2-3 hours. I'll keep this idea in my mind thanks
I have this problem, mines a bt home hub v3. Don't think its the router I blame the phone. I have to restart phone to make it connect with ability to use internet

I do not know what " standby mode" is? I have the same phone and have no problems with wifi. The phone goes to sleep when I do not use it and awakes when I use it.
It seems that your phones wifi is sleeping and not waking up. I always turn it off when not using it anyway. Not the full answer but it works for me.

I believe I know and had the problem you describe.
For me the Wifi would work perfectly at first and then after the phone had been left for a while I would try to use it and get 'no connection' type errors. Sometimes it would even stop working even if I just waited too long with the phone still on in my hand.
I found that if I either disabled router wifi security or set it to WEP the problem disappeared. The issue occurred on 2.3.3. My router is a DLink one fyi. I have yet to test 2.3.4 which came out yesterday in Sweden. Ill let u know.

I really should have said that is a workaround not a fix. I can add also that I have contacted Samsung about it. They cannot confirm or deny thru issue but suggested that I take the phone to their service centre. Yay...

If you turn wifi off when you don't use it, you'll never see this bug. Try to leave wifi on for some hours if you want to understand if also your gsII has this bug.

Ps: A really strange thing of this bug that i've noticed is that internet connection doesn't work but the program androidVNC perfectly works!! Instead if I try to open 192.168.0.1 (router address) with any browser (opera, dolphin, stock's browser) it doesn't work!!

I tried changing the channel also. I have heard others getting this to work. Didn't work for me. You can use Wifi Analyser app on phone to find a clear channel and see how u go changing your router perhaps?
I tried re flashing also using factory restore. No fix for me.
Also noticed that u can sometimes get phone to work by toggling Network Data on/off. Not really fun either.
The wifi channels and security settings I am talking about are settings in the router not the phone. What wifi security are you using in your router?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I am not a believer the router is at fault in any case. I would entertain an incompatibility but nothing more.
Original router and security settings work fine for...wait for it...an iphone 3gs and a Motorola Defy (yes the phone which seems to have issues with doing everything else!)
Either way an incompatibility is not acceptable either if that's what it is

I know this, and in fact i have to switch off and on wifi connection when this happens.
Now i'm trying to use channel 5 with the router ( but yesterday I've tested channel 6 and 13 without any result)
I hate this bug because beacause it happens only when he wants! I'm quite sure that assistance wouldn't solve the problem. A friend of mine has changed three gsII and said that every gsII that he has changed had this bug!
Ps: Another question.... How often do you have this bug?
Once a week? Once a day? Three times a day?

Is NOT the phone.
i have the same problem reported in the 1st post.
i have been turning wifi off and then on again for a quick fix until now but i think the solution might be to drop the security on the router from WPA to WEP. Haven't tried it yet tho, because it doesn't bother me that much.
I had an ipad previously (before i had the SGS2) and it had exactly the same behaviour. I looked up the problem then and found a FAQ from the ISP that mentioned a compatibility problem between ipad and that router, so their suggestion was to set the router to WEP only.

Easily more than 3 times a day but then I use the phone a lot.
Problem had never occurred when I used only 3G. That was my workaround when I got fed up with it before I dropped the wifi security.

For me it happens always after the phone comes back from stand by with wifi on.
steps to reproduce:
1-turn wifi on, and check it's connected and working
2-press power button to turn off screen
3-turn phone back on, try to access a new web page, it doesn't work
I noticed that while it's in stand by i will still receive email notifications so it probably only looses the connection when i turn it on again.
Also, if there was some program working (say, a download) when i went into standby it will probably still be transferring when it comes out of stand by, it's just the new connections that fail.
I have a samsung galaxy tab 10.1..
I am having trouble getting the wifi working on it.
my tablet shows that it is connected to my wifi connection , but i am not able to use the internet. The wifi icon also appears grey rather than blue as it should..
Please help me out.

had to remove one modem and use only a single modem for the internet access, and after that it was all fine.. think it was just the gateway problem after all..

With the usb it shows a connection but still no internet access.
I searched quit a bit and tried alot of apps but nothing seems to work.

That maybe a bug I have it to and I can't get anything but here is a app that will give you free and unlimited tethering: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter&hl=en
Trust me when I say the price is worth it just do the settings he recommends:
For LG G3 using this config
Interface wlan0
Method 2
Channel 1
Encryption wpa2-psk
"No Firmware Reload" <- UNCHECKED
if not work
Interface wlan0
Method 3 - HostApd
Encryption wpa2-psk
Channel 1
Drivers nl80211
"HostApd Patch" <- UNCHECHED

Same for me. I've tried both sets of settings with no luck. Worked great until I flashed Lollipop last night.
apn method
Still no tether for me. I understand the apn method works for native hotspot although i cant confirm or get it working myself. This is a lollipop deal breaker for me as this is my only internet access. I have been rumming barepop but think im going to flash clean stock and try apn method 1 more time. If no luck i going back to zv6.
The hotspot hack works. Make sure you're saving the apn when you do it. And do it to both.
I can't get WiFi tether router to work either.
If you do the apn thing go to my unlock post and look in the apn setting I have a hack that may work.
Also sorry about the app not working I tried

Does the apn hack work on 3g? This is the only reason i can come up with for why i cant get it to work. Im on lte/cdma. Follow instructions exactly. When i turn on hotspot, 3g turns off then hotspot turns off. Then error pops up saying something network error then popul about info for hotspot subscription. Ive gone to youtube to watch method. Its easy idk what im missing.

I don't think that's an issue. But maybe.
I'm on the fringe of LTE so my signal bounces back and forth between LTE and 3G.
Theres a link in the top of the OP of the Hotspot hack I made. It's in the International thread on the same thing apparently. You might get some more help from there.

Nevermind I got mine to work now. Took a couple reboots but the shortcuts method worked.
