[Q] Can't flash any ROMS - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA,
Today I have a bit of a problem. I am new to flashing ROMS and such. I followed the tutorial in the n00bs thread pinned In this sub forum and it didn't work! I have tried both TWRP and clockwork mod and it still haven't worked! If anyone could help me with this problem that would be great!
Thanks
-Chris
(Just tell me what info I need to add)
Rom I am trying to flash: Joe's CM9 build

You can't flash any ics roms without being on the ics radios first.

Thanks for replying, could you maybe link me to the radios and what order I have to flash it in?
Thanks

They should be over in the development forum. It doesn't matter what order you flash them in, but I always did the cdma first out of habit. I don't want to be the guy to find out that flashing a radio twice or something bricks the phone.

There is actually a radio package that includes the good cdma radio and the latest 4g radio already. Basically flash the first official ics radios.

[Q] What ROM...

This is a complete newb question, might get some slack for it but no sweat off my brow.
I downgraded my hboot from 1.5 to 1.4, which ROMs will I be able to use without effecting what my now rooted phone.
Thank you in advance!!
If you are cdma, I recommend the two in my signature. MeanROM is very stock with speed and fixes built in. ZR3DX is a rom with fixes but also has a lot of theming. So, stock choose MeanROM, if you like theming, choose ZR3DX.

First and foremost thank you so much for replying! :good:
That's the issue I'm not one who likes Stock ROMS so i didn't know if there was something that I needed to look at each ROM before trying to flash.

If you don't like stock, then you will love ZR3DX. It comes with some nice skins and is Sense based so everything works, but it definitely does not look stock. Also, the community there (Team 420) is very helpful. I recommend you start there.

Nothing, just make sure you get a cdma or gsm rom, depending on what you have.
@sitlet
Thank you for your response, I just was not sure if the new ICS ROM's would do anything to the downgrade rooting that I did.
I appreciate it!! :good:

I downgraded to root and use ICS with no ill effects (AFAIK). Just don't flash the VM firmware.

Im a Samsung user who is familiar with flashing ROM s and rooting.
My friend with an htc 3d EVO wants me to flash his phone.
Are any of the ICS ROMs 100% working and reliable?
I see that you have official CM7 support. Is that ROM 100% yet?

Finding right radio

Hi i'm trying the evolver 3d rom out and its saying the recomended radio is 11.77.3504.00U_11.25.3504.06_M but on other threads its saying WARNING YOU WILL LOOSE S-OFF, ROOT, ETC. If i flash this. what do i do. Thanks.
If you're afraid to flash the radio, you could flash just the rom and see if it works for you.

Were you previously running gingerbread? If so, you'd need to flash the latest T-Mobile ICS RUU before attempting to install any ICS-Based ROMs
A tool has been made that will flash the latest T-Mobile ICS RUU, and it can be found here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762936
Please read through the instructions carefully.
After flashing the RUU with the tool, you should now be able to flash ICS roms without issues/errors.

Any Rom can be used on 1.4 as long as it doesn't include the newest kernel. The bootloops are probably caused by being s-on.

Flashing international custom ROMs?

Looking at the codenames, both the international One and the ATT/TMOUS One are M7_UL. I'm pretty sure that they should all be able to run identical ROMs. Anyone know anything about this? Is it like the DHD/Inspire 4G where US variants needed an extra zip to flash things to make the ROM compatible?
Already confirmed that this works fine.
Yes they work fine ,first install Rom then flash boot.img
Sent from my custom M7
So I can flash any rom from the International version and it will work perfectly? Has anyone done this?

No such thing as international One.
It's all the same. The only seperation is bandwidth that your carrier operates on.
nugzo said:
Depends.... Supposedly if you update to the new firmware and hboot from the OTA update, roms built on the older firmware have issues. Key is to not do the firmware update yet. Not untill the devs start using that as their base..Or at least a base with compatible firmware. I think if you are on 1.19 you are ok. If software is 1.20 then you might have issues. If you are on 1.20 look for roms with the same firmware.
