The C-Pen works like a charm on the ultra. Awesome alternative for stylus input. It has a soft tip (yay) and a clip. http://m.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ETC-S10CSEGSTA
The tip is bigger than your usual stylus, but comfortable enough for writing and doodles

And for a Samsung product not even ugly.
The tip is way more smaller than a normal capacitive stylus. Only the Galaxy S3 supported this pen.
Comparison with a normal capacitive stylus
Looks good but you don't need a traditional capacitive stylus on the Z Ultra - a pencil or ballpoint pen works great!
I have the Adonit Jot Pro capacitive stylus that I use on my Windows 8 tablet - that one is really good as it is the most accurate capacitive stylus on the market.

Wait, the C-Pen has a smaller tip than normal capacitive styli. That's what makes it so great. It doesn't work on a standard capacitive screen, only on the sg3.
I also write with a pencil. But I like this better.
I added a picture of a comparison with a normal capacitive stylus to give you guys an idea.
considering a Cpen myself. I made the bluetooth spen stylus without the spen part , aka normal metal body pen, stretched the tip hole a bit, and managed to insert a 3.5mm headphone male plug out of it, complete with the dangling wires, stripped to touch the metal body. The thing does not write well. It writes, but its no clean or smooth or predictable. I didn't have as much luck as the spen guy, but the C-Pen was a consideration. Not too expensive, and significantly cheaper than the ridiculous 45$ to import the sony stylus into the US apparently. Care to post a video of the cpen tracking on the screen? I'd like to see if its really a win. I was hoping the tip was not soft but stiff.
why not just using a pencil?

Interesting ..
Did you remove Sony's screen protection before applying yours or was it fine to apply over Sony's one ?
Seems like removing the one that comes with the z ultra voids the warranty so just checking if it's fine to apply over Sony's one
Thanks !

I have one too, Rocketfish branded from Best Buy. I'm an employee, and bought it for $2. Works AWESOME. No fingerprints!
I have the bamboo stylus from about a week and i love it more than the original graphic tablet i have.
But i still use fingers and touchpad on my tf101.
But in extreme case this winter i will use it
How does it feel? Heavy?
The One i have is like a pencil of khoinoor.

Lol..starting to use use it on my phone too..
Wouldn't recommend it for writing, typing is ok.. I got speed with it now.
But mine is a bit fat on the end to write..

I think that Boxwave is the OEM for all these. I have the (identical) Targus version, and it works well. The only issue I have is that if I apply RainX to the screen, the pen detection is spotty until the RainX has worn a bit. Otherwise, it's quite useful.

I have that one too. It's really smooth and has a nice weight to it. Not too heavy, but not so light that you forget its in your hand

Cuts down on fingerprints quite a bit (since I don't use a screen protector) and makes the surface extremely smooth when sliding your finger around. If the prints don't bother you -- they drive me nuts -- or you use the stylus the majority of the time, it's not worth the effort. Also, anyone with a screen protector in place definitely should not apply a product like that to the surface.
There are a lot of them from Dealextreme if you need.
Got one of these too, Targus branded. I just wonder who thought it would be a great idea to add the sharp metal ring so close to the tip. I use mine quite a bit, but I'm always a bit scared of writing at too much of an angle so the metal cuts into my precious glass.

I might have to give this a try. The fingerprints drive me nuts. This is a pretty brilliant idea .
does anyone who uses one of these pens have the invisiSHIELD on? because i have that on my asus and would hate to purchase one of these only to realize it doesn't work too well with the screen protector.
Edit: just bought one. works beautifully.
I have a targus branded one from walmart, and rain-x applied to the screen, and it works flawlessly. Way better than touch input and you can make use of that autocad sketchbook app... its really nice.
after having a fat end for a week, and reading your feed back, and playing with a few on screen writing programs..
plus also learning how to write chinese charactors.. I am keen to go a bit further with this.. and get a better one for sharper writing..
I am using a screen protector that I brought the day i got this thing.. and find it just as sensitive to writing with my pen.. as my Evo is with a screen protector..
I would love to take this a step further and have my chinese staff write on it.. then be able to have handwritten recognition going no so that I could then copy an past it in to a translator..

Hi everyone. I would like to buy a stylus pen for my tab. I want a thin point pen, not like a fat ball-point one. So I was Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 's pen. Did anyone ever used this pens on TF300T ? My main goal is to note something on pdf's with EzPDF or similar :cyclops:
I don't think those styli will work. AFAIK it has to do with Samsungs framework. You could try plastic disc ones. I use a dagi stylus, the best stylus I have tried so far.
No, the S-pen is not a capacitive stylus. The reason capacitive styluses have the thick end is because the screens require a certain area to be pressed in order to respond.
The thick ended stylus is better working than it looks it would be. For my money, I go with the Spigen Kuel H14, to the extent of ordering one direct from Spigen because they don't sell them here. It was like $17 and really solid, but everyone has their particular favourite, so go with what seems right for you. I use mine mostly for annotating pdfs in ezpdf too.
The plastic disc one that jgaf was talking about is the adonit jot pro, really accurate and great for drawing but it's really fragile and not hugely portable because of that disc. You can just sling the others in a pocket, but if you lose the jot pro cap, you're screwed.

Yeah, it's fine for writing. The limitations in handwriting aren't to do with the stylus - works best in supernote and Draw Something - but with ezpdf. I don't use the handwriting notes in ezpdf a great deal, because it has all the notes and highlighting features. But it's good enough to underline within text.

Actually I have a dagi, pretty much the same as adonit. Mine came with a cap, just like a normal pen it protects the tip. It is portable, but like you said it is also fragile. If you drop it without the cap the springs that hold the tip will surely bend. they do come with spare points and discs.

I use a Wacom Bamboo Stylus. Nice heft & a very accurate tip
I tought i saw a sony stylus on some z ultra pics ages ago, anyone know where i can get this, id rather get theirs as im terrified of scratching the screen with non sony ones.
I'm pretty sure even sony official one (if it does exist) WILL eventually scratch the screen (even if the stylus didn't, something else will.. say, dust particles)... or I should say the lousy pre-applied shatterproof film instead of the glass screen. If you're really terrified of scratching the screen, apply disposable screen protector. I think there's no way around this on any smartphone unless somebody decided to use sapphire crystal (still they shatter)
I just picked up a couple of these.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-IN-1-Ca...ting_LaptopAccessories_RL&hash=item5656adebda
I know you don't need the capacitive support, but it may come in handy if your paranoid about scratching the screen etc. Plus there's a ballpoint pen built in and you can retract the ballpoint and just use the metal tip if you want. Finally there is a clip on it so I'm hoping I can find a flip case which will have room for me to store it inside.
I found good pen for our phone guys

Great, that looks like the optimum stylus. I would prefer a 100" version of the Ultra though because I think the present screen is way to small for precision with this bad boy.

Hi, I have tried an Adonit Jot Pro capacitive stylus on mine and its awful! Just doesn't work properly at all. Just in case anyone was thinking of getting one
Was scribbling with a mechanical pencil.. then i realized, the other end of the pencil is a smooth round-edged metal (protecting cap for the small rubber eraser). Used it as a stylus... PERFECT
I use Samsung Galaxy S3 pen, it does work. Better than any stylus with round tip. It does have the rubber tip, but way smaller and harder. More comfortable to use...
Does anyone know that Xperia Z2 Tablet works with Stylus ? I mean regular tablet stylus like Wacom bamboo, Adonit Jot, etc.
I've seen a video on YouTube that shows it doesn't work well on it and we should push it so hard to work. is that true ?
Well I have the Bamboo Stylus pro(5mm) and I apply medium pressure on the screen for nice strokes so its kinda in between - not to hard but not to soft either.
So its alright

Yeah but in my experience with different passive touchscreen tablets they are never really suitable for notetaking in comparison with an active digitizer tablet

Exactly, I have a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet for professional digital painting but my idea was to sketch and paint some simple designs with this little handy tablets. by the way would you tell me that is the stylus functionality as good as Samsung note 10.1 2014 ?
If it is notetaking that you want then this tablet I am afraid is not for you if your going to use words by a stylus instead of a BT keyboard. It is usable of course but in no way can you make fine strokes that are as tiny as with a real pen. I have a surface pro 2 and that one is specifically made to support to these things.
For me I would choose a Surface Pro every day if I wanted a good tablet with pen support and the Galaxy note is a close second, so to answer your question - no, stylus support on the Z2 will never be as good as the Galaxy Note's because of the fact that one has real pen support and the other one doesn't.
I hope that helps you in your decision

thank you so much I appreciate it , I really like surface pro 3 and Wacom Cintiq companion but these are a little bit expensive and I can't afford it.
anyway I hope sony add some new features like stylus in upcoming Xperia z3.
Hi I have just bought the tablet last night! Loving it so far.
The reason I bought this ridiculously big tablet is because I want to use it like paper and pencil (which is a perfect size for the purpose actually). However I was wondering if there's such screen protector that feels like a paper when drawing/writing with the S-pen? I have been told matte or anti-glare could offer a pretty close experience but it will sacrifice visual clarity (awesome colour gamut on this thing!).
Looking forward to hear from any of you!
No direct experience because I hate screen protectors and no longer use them but you could try playing with some different nibs in the SPen. These are design to give varying drag feeling.

It should come with two different nibs, one soft-tipped and one hard.
I'll test tomorrow if the nibs are the same as the ones in my Intuos pen. If they are, you could order some of those.

I have a Intuos too. The stylus is not picked up by the tablet. However I have not tried putting the nib on the S pen

On the Note 3 you could use various Tempered Glass screen protectors that made the experience a bit more like paper, but I dont think those are available for the NotePro. (That and they're already 60 quid in 5.7". In 12.2" they'd be around 200 quid.)

So, that's a no. The tips are far too big for the Spen, and about 0.3mm too thick for the Wacom Bamboo Feel pen.
Anyone own a Bamboo tablet and have the possibility to test if the Bamboo tips fit in the Bamboo Feel pen?
