Hi.
Last evening, I've got this message while upgrading GMail :
Translation : Not enough storage place.
But GMail is only 4 Mb and my internal memory is far from full :
And my external SD card is almost empty :
I have had to uninstall an other app to fix this issue but next I will face it I will be stuck as I need all installed apps.
Is it normal to get this message with more than 200 Mb free space ?
Thanks.
I know, maybe its nog gonna help but go to recovery and Wipe cache and dalvik

Hello there..
I have HTC HD2 and CM7 nightly 2.3.2 on it.
My settings/storage saying that i have 188MB free
My titanium backup saying:
Rom 157MB 29.4MB free
Phone 267MB 185MB free
SD 8GB 7Gb free
SD a2sd 722MB 686MB free
problem: when I want to download something from market it starts download but will break it inmediately with message :"not enough free space"
My sys folder seted to 150MB and cache folder to 5MB
Can be problem in low cache ? so i need to set it to 40MB or ?
Can anybody help me out please ?
Thank you for your answers
yes the /cache partition is set far too small.
Thank you ...
ps: It is possible to change size of cache folder without wiping or reflashing ?
just resize ? Or I need to do whole process from begining ?
I have a few apps installed on my device, and I have noticed that they get progressively larger after use, I clear their caches, the information under storage says:
Storage:
Total: 124Mb
App: 1.13Mb
USB storage app 0.00b
Data 0.00b
SD card 123Mb
Cache 0.00b
Note I am running CyanogenMod 9, the stable build for the i9300.
The Cache and data are 0.00b because I just cleared those two, yet the SD card section is still 123Mb. It just doesn't seem to make sense when an app that was 1MB from the market ends up becoming 124mb...
Does anyone where know why this happens? and if there is a way to get rid of that useless data?

Reddit Sync, but I found the problem, the cache was actually a part of the appdata, so android didn't read it as such, I actually had to manually go and delete the cached files in order to clear them out!
Thanks for reading my post though!
Several weeks ago I installed the Avatarrom with Jelly Bean 4.2 on my Galaxy S2 I9100. At first I was very pleased with everything. It was much faster, and in many ways better. Since then I've installed two updates. I'm constantly running out of memory. I cannot read my Gmail using the default gmail app anymore (your device doesn't have enough storage space to sync). Updating apps in the playstore doesn't work (Insufficient storage available). I removed many apps, cleared the general cache and that of many apps, moved numerous apps to the external SD, and that freed up enough memory to get the rest working, but not for long. With the second update, things seemed improved and I could open gmail again, but only for two days.
I've installed the app DiskUsage. This reports the following:
App storage (system ram I suppose)
Total 2015 MB
System data: 1645 MB
Applications: 309 MB
Free: 60 MB
Storage card
Total 11781 MB
Free 4900 MB
Storage SD card
total 14972 MB
6700 MB free
If I remember correctly the system data was "only" 1200MB when installing the avatarrom. Now it's 1645MB. How can that be? My phone has 2GB system memory, and if I'm correct there are not many phones with more than that. So if it grows 200MB with each update, something's wrong, isn't it? Or am I missing something? Should I clear some other cache or download folder? Does the free space on the storage card make a difference? Can I increase the system memory space, like resizing a partition?

Clear the cache files occasionally, every app generates cache data like Chrome Browser can generate more than 100mb of cache over a period of time.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Many apps store data on the system /data partition, the only chance to get more free space in the standard way is:
- remove unused apps
- move apps and/or data to sd (but not all apps will alow that)
This should give you some additional free memory, but yes, I agree, the /data partition is a bit small.
Hey, my friend has the same problem.
I installed him 3 different 4.1 JB roms, but the problem is same in all 3 roms.
We did factory reset and also wiped phone in recovery mode, but it didn't help.
We also tried this with sd card in phone and without sd card with phone, no difference at all.
What should my friend do to fix this?
Hello everyone, cause I am new here.
I hope I've set this topic in a proper forum. I seem it is a general problem, not connected with specific model of phone.
It began when I was updating apps on the phone - I saw a message about a lack of free space. Update couldn't be continued. I had CyanMobile eXperience custom ROM, my phone is Samsung Galaxy Mini.
Firstly, I tried to clean SD card, removing most of photos taken with camera. It helped for a short period of time, but although I had plenty of free room on SD card, the problem returned. There was no free place on the internal memory.
I tried to move all possible apps to SD card using options from settings menu (most of them were already on the card, I had done it before), but this also help for a short time.
So I entered Recovery and used Wipe Cache. What is important - probably without any need I used also Fix Permissions option. After this, the phone stopped reacting, so I turned out the battery (now I know that I shouldn't do it).
After a reboot, the OS and the launcher returned to factory settings. I understand that it's a consequence of Wipe Cache. But, additionally, Home key stopped working. I guess that it might be because of the wrong use of the Fix Permissions. So I repeated it (waiting until the Fix Permissions finishes), but it didn't help. Home key didn't work all the time.
I read that the only solution is reflashing the ROM, so i decided to install something newer: this CyanogenMod. It helped for a Home hey problem, but not for a free space problem.
Somebody adviced me to use Link2SD app. I managed to install it after removing few apps and moved all possible apps to SD card with this app. To do it, I had to repartition the card. I made 512 MB Ext4 partition (my SD card is 2 GB) for Link2SD. Installed one or two updates and the problem came back again.
I have no idea what to do now. I'm wondering about Wipe Data, but I am not convinced to do it, cause I would have to install everything again. Moreover, I seem that it won't give much, after installing all the apps and updates it will be no free place in the phone internal drive again.
Meanwhile, don't know why: due to Fix Permissions misuse, Wipe Cache, or changing ROM, some apps vanished.
The OS shows 23,95 MB free space in the internal memory (total capacity - 178 MB, 58,71 MB used by apps data, 576 MB by cache, so about 120 MB strangely disappeared) and 370 MB free space on SD card (not taking into account Link2SD partition - second one with FAT16: capacity 1,36 GB, 56 KB taken by apps data, 27,2 MB by photos and movies, 64 KB by sounds, 80,55 MB by downloaded data, 288 KB - cache, 545 MB - "different").
Strange is this "eaten" part of the phone internal drive.
What to do now?
Hey guyss.. I have a problem. I flashed soak test ota zip via twrp recovery..now when i install any app, it consumes a lot of space in the internal memory.. For ex if i have 400 mb used after installing lollipop ota, nd if i flash super su zip then it consumes around 60 to 70 mb of internal memory.. Moreover if i try moving apps to sd card only a part of it is transferred.. Like if i move a 40 mb app to sd card 20-25 mb goes to sd card nd rest is in internal memory. I just want to ask that whether it is a bug or somethng, cuz it never happens on cyanogenmod 12.. Plzz help..

try to reset your phone ( to delete all kitkat unused or leftover files as when i flash lollipop ota i got 1.43gb free space )and as lollipop uses ART runtime instead of dalvik which uses more space for app installation as byte code is compiled at installation time and not at runtime as dalvik runtime for more info please refer to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/dedicated-runtime-thread-art-vs-dalvik-t2516646

I heard at the nexus 4 forums that wiping cache and reset via stock recovery solves the issue.. Will try it today.. Thankss for ur help buddy
same issue
I am having this exact same issue. I flashed the soak test rom and i have factory reset my phone for like six or seven times. Still the low storage issue comes up eventually. Also the first reboot after factory reset after lollipop has never been successful. It gets stuck on the M logo and eventually i end up long press power button. After that it boots fine.
My issue is that internal storage keeps getting low and lower. When i reset i had 540 mb and now with exact same apps is around 180 mb. Which repels any app update due to insufficient storage. Junk cleaner Doesn't helps much. To keep off the constant low storage notification i am forced 5o manually delete data from messenger app from facebook which is always around 50mb. Damn i am pissed on lollipop.. i wish i could roll back but that process is way too complicated and also i am addicted to the lock screen notifications and oter features of lollipop.. so any substantial help would be greatly appreciated.
Its because of the cache on art
If you wipe the cache you will get some free space but that space will again fill up as and when you start using the apps.
So instead of freeing some space if you are rooted get link2sd or use xinternalsd with xposed otherwise switch to kitkat.
