[Q] Question about contacts - HTC Desire X

I can add a contact in google and phone with many many symbols(dont know the exact number), but when I trie to add a contact in my SIM card I have a limit that is 14 symbols Why is that ?

Maybe because SIM Cards have limited storage.

SIM card (Subscriber identity module) is designed to help you communicate (gives you a phone number and stuff)...sure it is capable of storing some text messaging (like 40 SMS of max 160 characters per SMS) and contacts (150-200 contacts) but the SIM card is not designed to be user friendly (to have a contact named Mike @ $$$) you can simply add something like: Mom +40 754 215 741 - and that's it nothing more nothing less

Problem with SMS and contact list

When I want to write a new SMS, and click on the contact list button to select a number, I only get all the contacts stored in the xda's memory, and not from the SIM. What am I doing wrong?
The xda doesn't access anything from the sim directly....only uses the sim manager program. Copy the entries to the main phone book to use them as described.

[Q] Possibility of adding contacs to sim card from call history on HD2?

I really need an answer to this question. In my HD2, there is a chance to add people to contacts but only in phone memory while looking at call history. No option to add to sim. I can only add by keeping the number in my mind and add manually in sim.
Basically, wanna click to a number in call history and directly add to sim contacts. How can i achieve this? Thanks.
cant do it without adding it you your phones 'people' list too. but you can do it in around 10 seconds
press the small square icon at the right end of the call history entry, then menu - save to people - new contact, fill in details - done - then menu - save contact to sim - then when sim completes saving hit menu - delete contact to delete the people entry, and leave the contact in sim only.
I know this way of adding but just searching for a shortcut. However, i will keep doing like that unfortunately

Shortcuts for direct call

Hello,i wanted to set up my most called contacts as shorcuts on the home screen on my Evo,but when i chose shorcut>direct call it gives me only people with phone numbers imported from my facebook account. Is there a way to give me the contacts from my sim card only so i choose among them.I tried with people widget, but in all groups it gives me to choose from contacts from my gmail acc, only in the frequent group displayed me the contacts from my sim card, since they were the ones i called mostly.
So how do i get the phones on my screen from the sim card as shorcut?-or i should use another app from the android market.
P.S. In people i've set the options to show me only contacts from sim card and phone memory.

Try this.... Go to your "people" app and open it. Click the phonebook tab at the top, it'll let you choose which contacts to show. That's how it works on the Rom I use, (mikrunny 3.5 sense) might be different on yours. Hope this helps.
This is what to show in people app,in my case when i pick address book ,yeah i see only people from sim card. But i wonder why when i try to add the contacts as shortcut dials,i see only the ones from facebook.
is there anyone who tried to make such speed dials and experienced such difficulties?
P.s. Anyway thanks for the try

Please help thanks,.. SIM card contacts

Hello Members, I've just starting to get to grips with the XZU. I've also done various Google searches on the info I'm looking for so help would be great thanks.
The problem is I'd like to keep my contacts on the SIM card, and also save them by default to the SIM card, trouble is, if I go to my contacts the only option I can see is to copy them to the phone, if I go to the SMS app and want to add a recipient none of my contacts are shown but if someone calls they appear in the call log with there contact name, so the phone is seeing my contacts in the SIM card.
So all I'd like is to continue to save new contacts to the SIM card, but also have the XZU get it's contact list from the SIM card.
Help would really be great as I'm lost to now know all my numbers (stupid I know).
Regards
Livo
Just to report regarding my post, the answer is 'no', the contacts have to be imported to the phone, this has come from Sony direct, although when the time comes any new contacts should be able to be exported back to the SIM card for future use.
Regards
I think it is an android limitation... I tried on my Galaxy Note (custom JB rom) and my old xperia x10 (custom GB rom).. both of them dont have export to sim option...
Maybe because with the current capabilities of phones, manufacturers dont see the need of saving contacts to SIM anymore...? :what:

Because generally social apps need /phone number/imei/ID android/ only when first accessing and/or adding contacts.
Such an idea: when connecting to the internet, delete contacts from the old phone and add them in the new phone.
