My PC Doesn't recognize my phone in download mode, any help please?
My phones stuck on vibrant screen but i can access recovery.
My Pc has rarely ever been able to connect to my phone!
Search for the "samsung vibrant Drivers" for your computer. Installing them should fix your problem .
i have those installed from the aio vibrant toolbox
Don't use 3rd party software to install your drivers. Get the Samsung drivers 32 bit for xp or windows7 home and 64bit for windows 7 pro 64
If you are really having a problem you can also change the setting to make you phone act as a mass storage (like a pen drive) then you can see the internal sd card and the external sd card............that's another way
Either way the real problem is you do not have the drivers correctly installed.

no im stuck on vibrant setting, ders no android os installed on my phone. when i try to install bionix on it i get "E:Failure at line 12:
copy_dir PACKAGE:system SYSTEM: Installation Aborted" Thats coming from "(Port)(Rom)Simply Galaxy/Sweet Honey (Updated 2/28)"
You need to get into download mode and use odin to flash your phone.
i get into download through the clockwork lagfix recovery, but my phone doesnt show up when in downloadmode. im using windows 7 ultimate sp1 32-bit
Are you using ODIN? It won't show up as mass storage while it's in download mode but if you open ODIN and then get it into download mode while it's plugged in it should show up on one of the com ports.
yes im usin odin
Try this:
Open ODIN, place the proper files in their respective slots, turn off your phone and plug it in to your computer. When it turns on one of the windows in ODIN should say COM: with a com port number after the colon. If the com port comes up hit the start button and hope for the best. This is the only way odin will work for me but it's a finicky program.
would it be easier if i used heimdall on linux? anyone kno how to use that?
cause my pc does not recognize my vibrant to save my life. i need to use my phone!

download mode -> unknown device

Hello everyone,
I've searched for a solution over the forum but I didn't find any solution..
So my problem is that I can't use Odin because windows doesn't recognize my phone on Download mode.
I have the drivers installed, Kies and windows recognize my GS2 without problems.
I've tried with different cable, different USB port, uninstall/reinstall drivers many times, from Kies or from samsung web site.
I just have no idea why in download mode windows doesn't use the installed drivers..
Help?
Thanks!
Did you try in a different PC?
I am sure driver is the only cause. Perhaps you can try following. Install Kies, then connect phone once and check if Kies detects your phone
Which version of Windows are you using? I am using Windows 7 and its working fine. I did root yesterday and Windows detected drivers and also it had to download from net for some reason. In the end it did work
USB cable to main board connection .
Reboot phone turn USB debugging off .
Set USB to Mass storage mode .
Connect cable and let Windows find USB drivers .
jje
Did you terminate every Kies process before opening Odin?
Hello,
Thanks for the answers.
I'm running on windows 7 64. But it didn't try on another pc.
Windows does install drivers and recognize my phone in USB to Mass storage mode.
But still not recognize it in download mode and yes I've terminated every Kies process.
I know that in Download mode windows install some new/different (?) drivers. When I'm on download mode, windows fails to install driver as it's an "unknown device". Is there a way to install those drivers manually?
Hello,
Un-install Kies, reboot system, reinstall kies.
Still not work. After reboot and reinstalling Kies my phone was recognized, but in download mode there is still nothing.
If windows has USB drivers then download mode works .
Is USB debugging turned off .
Reboot phone
Enter download mode follow instructions on download mode screen .
Open Odin select files to flash
Connect Samsung USB cable to mainboard port .
Hit start on Odin .
jje
USB debugging is off.
But as windows don't recognize the device, Odin can't detect it in download mode.
It's really weird

Ok, I manage to get this working.
I did this:
-I have unplugged all the USB on my motherboard, I've uninstalled all the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" (to acces type devmgmt.msc in windows start menu)
-Turn off the PC and unplugged the power supply. Waiting like 3 minutes.
-Replug the power supply and boot.
-Replug all my USB, windows reinstalling everything.
-Plug my phone in download mode and windows finally installed the drivers and Odin detect it !
So if someone have a unknown device issue with a code 43, please try this.
Thanks for your time and answers.
Disabling the "unknown device" and then disconnecting and reconnecting my phone worked for me.
Run Kies as Administrator, Install Drivers
This is what worked for me. Kies said the Drivers were installed without Administrator but nothing worked

Install drivers to run ODIN : needed ?

In order to get ODIN running for rooting I tried installing Kies under Windows. I tried two VMware sessions on my Mac : On both occasions I used the original cable and turned USB debugging OFF (required for Kies). I assigned the USB port to the VMware session of course.
Windows XP SP3 : It did install normally but drivers install of Samsumg MTP device failed
Installing went OK.
Windows 7: Same problem and Kies appeared in a red window.
On the Mac native (OSX 10.7) Kies installed and connected normally, but cannot use it for rooting as ODIN is for Windows only.
Adre these device drivers really required for ODIN ?
i think u need the drivers. forget kies. just download the samsung drivers and install them. u have to put the phone into download mode to install firmware via odin -> VOL_Down+Home+Power
the drivers u will get here (will work for sgs2 too):
64bit Windows (all versions): http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x64.shtml
32bit Windows (all versions): http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x86.shtml
Yea it doesn't work on Mac. Got 10.7 running here too, but I only flash through my CWM directly now. When I need odin, I just use my mom's laptop.
Hope not too late, here's the link for downloading Odin, Kies, Kies3, Smart Switch, and all needed drivers for Samsung phones: http://www.droidviews.com/android-usb-drivers-samsung-motorola-sony-lg-zte-htc-asus-huawei-acer/ Thank me if this helped

my phone freeze on the first screen with the galaxys2 logo and the yellow trigon...!!recovery mode mode dont work and when i am going in download mode the pc cant reccognice the phone..!!i have allready install the drivers...!!i want to install an official rom but odin cant see the phone.!!help
If you think you get working drivers installed, put your computer online, put your phone on download mode, plug the cable, and wait for it to install.
This is for windows 7, otherwise install the Samsung usb drivers again

That's hard.
If you do not get the PC recognize your phone in download mode, you have a real problem.
Try another USB port and cable.
Try to connect your phone to another PC.
Maybe you have to give it to a service center for repair.
Is your phone already out of warranty?
I had a similar problem where it freezes on that screen.
My problem was I installed an ICS rom with old version kernel.
Once I installed the latest CF-Root the boot was successful.
If Odin can't see your phone and you can still go into Download mode, I would check to make sure that Kies is not open and no Kies process is live (Task Manager / Processes), I think it's call "KiesTrayAgent", just kill the process and any process that has a Kies word in it.
Otherwise try another PC.
