[Q] what format sd 64gb - Samsung Galaxy Mega

hi guys just woundering what is the best format for a 64gb sd card lol
thanks

These usually come preformatted to exfat which the Mega recognizes right out of the box.
No need to go to fat32 on the Mega.
exfat can handles video files greater than 4GB where fat32 or any other format cannot.

Question about 4Gb file transfer limit

Hi guys, could someone please clarify why we can't transfer a file that has more than 4GB in size using MTP on Galaxy S3?
I search in this forum and I read 2 reasons why others also encounter this (Using other Android Device)
1. Because of the file format of the SD card being FAT32
2. Because of the file transfer limit (4GB) using MTP
[Questions]
A.) Could someone please clarify if MTP does really have 4GB transfer limit?
B.)And also I formatted my SD card using the format option IN my Galaxy S3, does the galaxy S3 format it to FAT32? (I have a 16GB Sandisk microSD card)
Thanks, I'm confused
Stick it in a card reader and format it under windows to exFAT and you won't have this problem
Hi mate, it works! Thanks!

New micro sd need to be formatted?

I'm getting my 64gb SanDisk micro sd today in the mail.
Does it need to be formatted before I use it?

You only need to format it IF when inserted it isn't read. Standard is fat32 generally, but I've only run into a brand new sd card that wasn't formatted only once.
no teh you are wrong fat 32 cannot go above 32GB it will need to be formatted.

FAT32 can go up to 2 TB, but the maximum file size is only 4 GB.

64GB FAT32 format

I've always used extFAT on my SanDisk 64GB MicroSDXC UHS-1 Class 10 memory card. A few times I tried FAT32 but the S3 still had issues with it so I went back to extFAT. If I was to format the card now to FAT32 would any of the following happen.
1. Card could die sooner because it's FAT32?
2. Are there known bugs with having it be FAT32?
3. Does the speed or performance of the card drop any?

FAT32 vs exFAT (aka FAT64)

1. No
2. Windows will not allow you to create a filesystem larger than 32GB with FAT32, you can use 3rd party programs to accomplish this.
3. FAT32 filesystem performance depends on the size and number of files contained on the fileysystem, many small files will cause FAT32 to be slower than exFAT.
ExFAT also supports ACLs (file permission attributes) and does not have a 4GB single file size limitation.
There is no practical reason to use FAT32 over exFAT unless the devices you are using are incapable of reading an exFAT filesystem (i.e. pre-XP versions of Windows).

I was only thinking this because of being stuck on CWM making a nandroid backup and such since I can't remove the recovery.

[Q] MicroSD Card File System

I've just bought myself an SGS3, and a 64GB MicroSD. My MicroSD card has arrived before my phone, and I'm wondering what file system I need to re-format it as, if any? It's currently formatted as exFAT. Thanks in advance.

For compatibility, its best formatted as Fat32.
If you're using a samsung rom then exFAT is fine.
If you go aosp roms like cyanogen, you'll need fat 32
