LG Home with Theme Enabled (ODEX Version),Themes and AOSP LockScreen - AT&T LG Optimus G

This is a LGHome3.Apk with Theme enabled for Stock Rom Only... This is a ODEX version... So Anyone like me who has Pure Stock Rom with Just Root..You can use this and Apply themes. Most of the LG homes found here on XDA and online are Deodexed versions and I just wanted Odex version but with Theme enabled. I feel LG launcher is the best stock Launchers available out there with its customizations etc.
While doing some experiments.. Found out LGOG Lockscreen is based on AOSP Lockscreen. Just making one small change it give us AOSP Lock screen. (See Below Images Post 2). for Lock Screen follow the same steps as Home but from STEP 5 Replace anywhere it says LGHome3 to Lockscreen3 when following steps.
Click Here to Download AOSP Lock Screen for STOCK LGOG
Themes can be found in thread (Below Link) on Different pages. I did not try them all.. So don't blame me if something goes wrong on themes end.
I will be Adding more themes here.... Also you can create your own themes...
How To for LG Home: ALL THE BOLD STEPS ARE VERY IMPORTANT
1. You need to be rooted (No need of custom Recovery etc)
2. Need file Explorer Like ES File Explorer which has ROOT Explorer (Free on Market)
3. Install 3rd Party Launcher for Just in case scenarios... I installed Free Nova.. You can install any other launcher.
4. Make the 3rd Party Launcher as Default (Just till you get everything working)
5. Open ES explorer click Menu on Phone and Enable Root Explorer (It Should be ON in Blue) And Mount RW should be selected on System.
6. Dowload the File from this Thread (LGHome3.apk)
7. Go to System/App and Rename the Orginal LGHOme3.Apk to LGHome3.apk.Org and Paste the one you downloaded. (Remember.. Before you do this step, To make the Other Launcher you downloaded to make it Default)
8. Once you Paste the one from this forum.. Restart the phone.
From Settings Home try to Select the Home.. (LG) If it say Unfortunately Home as stopped or Something like that.. Go to Settings > Apps> All and Stop HOME Selector , Stop and Clear Cache for Home .. Then Try Again to Select Home.. You are Good to Go.
I put all the steps like ELI5 so that noobs can follow too. Still if you have any questions... Please feel free to Ask. If I don't answer on time, Someone else will with a good heart.

Sample Theme (Love), AOSP Lockscreen Pic's.
This is a sample theme And Lockscreen. Lock Screen has a gray bar below, Date and time are not visible on the lock screen b'cos of the wallpaper.

Can you also give lock-screen where can be selected weather instead of clock or calendar?

Are you on stock?

yes in stock 4.1.2 but its been modified by someone added russian language and supersu

I wonder if I might be able to pick your brain about how you created the AOSP lockscreen. I actually have the LG G2 and I was trying to figure how to get the AOSP lockscreen on a stock based rom because I don't really like the LG version. No one in our forums has done it that I'm aware of so I started poking around at other LG forums figuring that it might lead me the right direction. (I actually tried using the one you posted thinking maybe it would work but it seems it isn't compatible.) Anyway, then I thought you probably just pulled the lockscreen from an AOSP rom or from gapps but I couldn't seem to find the apk file. Did you create that lockscreen by modfying code in the LG apk? Maybe I can follow the same process for my phone... Any help would be awesome!

Its from the lg stock lock screen. Tomorrow I will look into it and let you know... I don't remember right of my head... Not near computer. It was just a boolean value in one of the XML files.

@streetsmart999 or anyone
Can you please upload LGHome3.odex file also?
I want to test it with LG-L9-II.
Thanks.

MattedBLues on Legend

Anyone had any luck with this theme on the Legend with CM7?
[THEME] MattedBlues - CM7 Final/6/SalvageMod & Sense

It looks awesome...
did you try it? Do a nandroid backup download and try it - then tell us how it went..

It looks very goooood. I want it on my Legend!!!!
But i use Blayo´s Rom and dont want to change to cyanogen...
I flashed the Mattedblues theme made for the EVO (I think, found it in this thread) on my HTC Legend last night, and it basically almost works.
It looks amazing, and as far as I'm able to tell, there are no visual problems with the skin itself.
Thing is, if I try to turn off WiFi, I'm thrown back to the boot animation. It then boots up normally, with the WiFi still on.
I don't know if this is caused by settings on my phone, or by the skin being incompatible with the Legend. I tried to flash the version of the theme made for the G2 just now, but the same problem occurred.
Thanks Eirki, I posted your feedback here in case someone can advise:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13111708#post13111708
Good idea, thanks. I would love to have this work for the Legend, it's by far the most polished CM7 theme I've seen.
Just tried installing for cm7.
Besides the wifi, I also found the keybord having grafic error ect. Gallery also broken.
awesome skin, if it worked proparly.
Hope here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044880
I now have MattedBlues working on my Legend. I used the method this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841720 (Method 1). It was actually fairly straightforward.
Using that method, I merged the theme-files from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959065 with the files from the offical CM7.0.3 zip file. Just make sure you download the theme which is compatible with current version of CM.

Do you mean sharing the modified theme-files, or sharing a screenshot? As I have said in this thread, I don't feel comfortable with anyone distributing other versions of the theme without the creator's explicit permission.
But it really isn't difficult merging the files yourself. You should try it. =)

Maybe you can post a description of your achievement in the official theme thread, along with asking the creator for permission to post the theme for others? I personally think the creator will be happy his/her theme has reached another device??!!
It's all about sharing. Otherwise places like XDA wouldn't really be what it is today..

I really didn't do anything in particular with phone.apk. Is the theme-porter method not working for you? If it's a problem with the dialer, I might not notice, as I'm using Go Dialer.
@C_Man: Good point. I posted a question here. I fairy new to both Android OS and XDA, and I don't much of the etiquette yet. Figured I'd tread carefully.

Yeah i guess you also converted with hdpi to mdpi with theme-porter. If you do that everything works except the dialer.
The creator - jabbawalkee - said that, as long as I give proper credit, I'm free to distribute it.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1699092/MattedBlues_for_HTC_Legend_CM7.0.3.rar
Here are the files that I've used. Apart from the dialer, some notification icons and the font being a little small, it's working like a charm.
If someone has an easier way of sharing files, that won't eat my monthly dropbox bandwith, please let me know =)
Also, I see people talking about a "thank you" button, but I can't seem to find it. Any hints?
I wrote a short howto and put it in the rar, but I recommend you check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841720 anyway. Good luck with the theme, remember to do a nandroid backup before you try anything.
The 'Thanks' button is near the Quote/MultiQuote/QuickReply buttons on the bottom right of each post. I can see 3 people have thanked you for your above post and file share
You mention: "some notification icons and the font being a little small," ...are you able to notify us:
- which notification icons?
- where is the font small?
This will allow us to report any other wierd behaviour.
1] Is this for 7.0.3 and above only or 7.x ?
2] Do we need S-OFF?
3] Do we need [MOD] full r/w access via overlay filesystem (any ROM) for this to work?
Thanks once again!
Notification icons:
The roaming icon (looks like the regular signal strength icon, only with an R on it) does not appear to be themed. Instead it's the standard green.
Also, for some reason, when wifi is turned off, the signal strength icon is gray not blue.
I don't use 3G or edge, so I don't know how those icons look.
The battery percentages icon is very difficult to read. This is easily bypassed by checking "Battery Percentage" in CM settings -> Interface -> Status bar tweaks. It's a shame though, the special made percentage icon is a lot fancier.
Font size:
This is most noticeable in the Launcher Pro Plus widgets, especially the Friends widget and the Pulse news reader app. It's definitely readable, but still a minor nuisance.
If this is a deal breaker to you, there's always the option of not installing the font or installing a different one. (If anyone knows a font that looks good on the Legend, let me know.)
1: CM-version: I have only tested these specific files on CM7.0.3. I made them by combining the MattedBlues files for 7.0.3 with files from the CM7.0.3 zip file. For all I know, they may work on other versions as well. If not, the MB files for other versions can easily be converted to Legend-compatibility.
2: Mine is S-ON, so I wouldn't think you need S-OFF (I don't really know what S-OFF entails, I'm somewhat of a newbie.)
3: Now, I have no idea what that is. I sure never did that with my phone. Looks like a way to write files to /system without booting into recovery. I just boot into recovery =)
Thanks for the above!
I look forward to trying it out!

Don't worry, this isn't a theme-related issue.
In 'pure Android', when you are online AND have the ability to connect to Google servers, the bars are green. When you don't have access to Google servers, the bars go grey. So the behaviour you see is normal [just replacing blue for green of course].
Question regarding the Apps folder in the *.rar file in post #16 above...
Can we simply delete the APK and ODEX files for the applications we don't want to install with the ROM or is completely the wrong and unstable way of doing it?

What launcher are you using? Most allow you to replace icons with ones of your choosing, you'll just have to put them on your sdcard.
If you're wanting to theme icons at the system level, or your launcher doesn't allow you to select a custom icon, then you'll have to modify apks.

Send me the icons and I'll make a flashable .zip for you that will change them, hassle free ( plus a recovery one so you can revert them if you don't like them ).
It's 2 minutes of work
Edit : I figure you want to change them while using Touchwiz, because replacement launchers do it easily anyway
Thank You Sir!!!!
I have uploaded the contacts messaing apps and all icons i dont need the dialer as it is stock look in the newest 2.3.6 builds

tested on my phone and works like a charm
Now I just need to wait till my CheckROM v6 finishes downloading so I can make a restore zip for you.
I'm not sure what the default icons are in new version and I need it anyway
Check this post later on. Post a screenshot when you flash it

Not strictly true - although it is an app drawer replacement.
Can change icons and names with this, my favourite ever app ever of all time ever.
As I've posted before, if there's an easier way to edit icons/text and retain functionality, I have yet to find it.
Especially because I couldn't modify an apk if my life was at stake...

[Q] [HELP!] Go Locker Theme Problem

I've published a couple Go Locker themes and recently just noticed something that is driving me insane. I am using a Galaxy Nexus and kanged a couple of their lockscreen's. No problems with those at all. Install fine on every device that I've tried. MDPI, HDPI, XHDPI no problems, all with just a HDPI folder, no other resources. Recently I made a football lockscreen and want to make sure it's available to as many people as possible. This is where the problem lies. It will not work on an XHDPI phone from the market. It installs fine when testing and from using the same apk as i used to upload to the market. But when a person download and installs it then tries to apply it, they get all white preview images and then if you apply it it gives a completely clean screen that looks like its unlocked but is locked only unlocking by the home button or a status bar pulldown action. I've tried for a couple days to figure this one out and am pretty stuck. The apps are not checked for copy protection in the market either. If anyone has any clue what-so-ever it would be greatly appreciated.
(I tried adding a drawable-xhdpi folder too, no bueno)
When I download a theme that does not work (no preview image), I can NOT find it with root explorer either even tho it says the app is installed on my phone. I am almost completely lost as other themes I've done work with no problem.

UPDATE: I have had someone (BigNaDad aka BigDX) finally let me know exactly what the issue is. It is an encryption that Android 4.1 (jellbean) puts on paid apps. Go Launcher/Go Locker currently have no decryption process for themes therefore paid themes will not work properly if you are running anything after Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). Hope this helps someone else's headache.

Hi,
Do you have a fix for that? I'm also having same problem as non of my paid go locker themes dont work at all. Please tell me how to fix it if you have an idea.
Thanks

I have them email me a copy of their receipt and then send them the same apk that I originally uploaded to the market. Annoying but still gets the job done. Wish the Go Dev Team were a little more helpful with the issue.

I think I found a solution. I moved lockscreen.xml file from assets/skin folder to res/raw folder. I tested it on JB as a paid theme and it worked.
The only thing I couldn't figure out is it does not show the theme thumb and preview images on go locker theme chooser. They are all blanks (but still you can apply the theme from there). I tried to move them from assets/preview folder to res/drawable-hdpi folder, but it gave me few errors that I couldn't solve.
Give it a try and see if it works for you or not. Let me know if you have any other solution for this including preview images.
btw I haven't tested my solution on GB and ICS devices.

[L3 II, L5 II, L7 II] How to get the AOSP lockscreen on your stock LG device

Do you also hate the LG lockscreen? Do you want to get the AOSP one? I know how!
Go into your build.prop (there are many ways to acces it, you can do it with the Rom Toolbox app, Root Browser or with ADB pull and push)
Edit the lines:
ro.lge.capp_lockscreen:true ; This is what enables the LG lockscreen
ro.lge.capp_resource:true ; I do not really know what this line does but if you do not change it to false, you will get a gray bar at the bottom of your lockscreen, changing it to false will also result in several things to become gray like the installer and uninstaller. But it does not break anything. I think has something to do with the acces of your system colors and theme.
Change both those lines to false. Reboot and there you have it the AOSP lockscreen! I currently do not know how to change the wallpaper. But I am fine with a black background because I have also a very dark launcher wallpaper. I will update this post if I know how to solve this problem.
This does not modify your system files in any way. It just disables the LG lockscreen and enables the AOSP lockscreen.
Credits go to various members of the 4PDA.ru forum.
That's a great and useful app, thanks for sharing!
That'll be one feature in my ROM if I'll update it

What's happend if I change que "ro.lge.capp_optimusui=true" one, 'cuz "optimusui" is the LG personalization, maybe If I change it to "false" it would change some things, any one know about that?
Does not work with kitkat update. These lines are missing and they do nothing if they are added to build.prop
I'm on L7 II P713 with P710 KK Update
Can't change Lock screen Wallpaper !!!

"Lock Screen Settings" crashes when I tap on the option to change the wallpaper.
And even cant change from the gallery.

Themes for the 8.4?

So is anyone theming the 8.4? I tried installing the S6 Theme Engine and it didn't work. Really cannot stand the bright colors of TouchWiz. Was wondering if anyone knew of a Dark theme for it. Something that takes care of stuff like the Settings Page, Notification Drop down and others. I'm using Apex Launcher but the TouchWiz background stuff is still there. Even like Dark Google Play, Gmail. Chrome Etc.
Team Black Out does all the apps...but no themes yet...check custom roms..theres a CM12 out I think

I've used all the Roms. IronRom and Liquid are the only ones that aren't corrupted for some reason. I wish I didn't have to leave LiquidSmooth because its soo flawless, Except for the big flaw of A2DP Bluetooth not functioning. I'm currently on IronRom which is why I am asking since TW looks like pure .... well I can't say it on the forum and I tried to use Wannan and Xposed to change colors but it isn't working. I can move the clock over and what not, But as for the colors of the Drop down at least.... They wont change. I'm backing it up right now to go back to LiquidSmooth to try a different Kernel. But my issue is the Bluetooth, It must be working Flawless with music. And lots of people across the Android Platform are having issues with Lollipop and Bluetooth.
I would love a full Blackout Theme for Google Apps, The Drop Down and settings to make TW look like AOSP. And then I can use Apex to skin the launcher the best way I need it.

I'm not sure if you have rooted your device (although it seems like you have). Also I'm not sure how technically apt you are but you can theme the Touchwiz settings and some of the system UI yourself by following these instructions:
(Guide) How To Theme Touchwiz 5.0 [SystemUI] [SecSettings.apk] DIY
Also the advise of using the Lollipop apps from Team Blackedout is correct. I use the Youtube Blackedout version and turn off Google Play updating for that specific app in the Playstore settings. I have not had as much luck getting the other Lollipop Google apps installed such as Gmail. I need to spend more time figuring out that issue.
As the Team Blackedout web site no longer has links to the apks you need to use their app for the downloads (scroll down that link for the app). I just use that app to select and download but not to flash for my own specific reasons but that is up to you. No matter what take a backup and follow their instructions for each app to the letter. Clearing out the Google supplied app can be tricky as in some cases the apk name is not clear such as "base.apk" instead of "gmail.apk" while the directory name is a better indicator.
Even though I have a Tab S 10.5 the instructions are not 10.5 specific. I'm still experimenting and chipping away at the status bar colors. I have also done things a bit different than in the post I linked to above. I wanted to make it easier to quickly apply themes when the OS is upgraded or I grow tired of some colors. Now matter what the post will get you the dark Touchwiz settings you desire.
I attached a few pictures to prove some theming success.
Oh wow. I'll read through it. I'm really interested now. Thanks.
and yes I am rooted. I've been through all the roms and the only ones that seem to work on my device is IronRom which is TW and LiquidSmooth which is AOSP. And my main function for my tablet is bluetooth audio, LS has a massive issue with it. IR does not.
***EDIT*** Ok, Attempting to follow those guides but I'm lost. SystemUI doesn't decompile at all, and Settings goes about half way. I tried just by turning the APK into a Zip and extracting the files and things aren't adding up. I can see images, like the icons in the systemui drop down... but can't figure out the colors, like the Blue background of the dropdown... I can prob live with everything the same color except changing the background to black. Settings, I believe would just need to change the background of the blue and white both to black, and then change the color of the text to white. And that one is a lil more descriptive. But I decided to try SystemUI first and it is not going, at all.
Maybe its the way I'm copying the APK's over? I'm using ESFileExplorer to make backups. I try to locate the APK's directly to copy them but I cannot find them.

A couple of comments. Please reread all the posts by the original author. You must have a working decompile/rebuild environment (apktool). If you are a MS-Windows user there is a link to Advanced Apk tool which provides everything you need in one package. I'm a Linux users so had to cobble together a few tools to get a equivalent tool set. If you could not decompile I suspect you have not installed the framework-res for apktool to use. I did this my first time as I did not read the apktool web site instructions as I should have.
So far I've had no problem recompiling/rebuilding SystemUI.apk and SecSettings.apk. I have had no luck modifying framework-res.apk which unfortunitely holds the notifications text colors and why I only have grayed backgrounds on notifications. Note that when framework-res.apk does not work your device's UI is borked and you need to rebuild your system or do a nandroid restore. So make sure you take a nandroid or Flashfire system backup and tread carefully.
When you have used apktool to rebuild your apk you must flash the new apks. A flash file template is provided in the first few posts of that thread. Use either Flashfire or a custom recovery or some other flashing tool to install the new apk(s). Using that template I created a theme recovery flash file containing the original SystemUI, SecSecurity and framework-res apks. It has come in hand a time or two. Do not replace an existing apk with a root enabled File Browser you are more likely to break your system than anything else. Your modifying essential system components not an app and those components are being used while your changing them, not good.
I would suggest further discussions be continued in the thread I mentioned. You would get more experienced and wider range of people responding to your theming questions. Reading that whole thread would also include seeing mistakes and solutions others have posted.

Hello, I was curious if you had found anything yet? Also, do you have a SM-T700? I hate the bright stuff on this device.
A few how to's on how to skin touchwiz. Or go to a aosp rom. I skinned some of my rom but gave up going all the way through it.
