how to install Carbon ROM Android 4.3 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

can someone help me on installing the Carbon ROM Android 4.3. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and i've downloaded the zip file needed from (AT&T) I've put it onto my sd card and i followed these steps
Step 1: Wipe Date/ Factory reset
Step 2: Wipe Cache partition
Step 3: Advanced > Wipe Dalvik cache
IMPORTANT ONE!!
Step 4: Mounts and Storage > Mount /system > Format /system
Step 5: Mounts and Storage > Mount /system (yes again to make sure its mounted, do NOT click UNMOUNT /system
Step 6: Install carbon rom, followed by the gapps, and all should be working swell. This is what I did to get a first time install working.
But i do have a problem with step(s) 4/5. when i do it, it the screen just does a quick flash, so i'm not 100% sure of it did it's job. so after that i continued on installing with the 6th step, and it does a 2sec start and tells me that it had failed. So I just restart my phone since i cant do anything else and I'm still stuck. BTW my phone is rooted. Does anyone have some advice on installing this?

when i started flashing rom i learned never reboot device after formatting partitions, because if you format a partition like system or data, cwm will remember where it is , so you can mount it. but when i format and restart my cellphone i cant mount anymore. i had this problem lots of tomes until i discover it

just try again..no rebooting!

[Q] Ater Odin, No storage

It all started today when I rooted my stock 2.2 and installed Voodoo.
After I installed Voodoo, my phone wouldn't boot. So I Odin'ed a stock ROM.
The Problem is, I have no internal/external storage on the phone at all!
I've tried flashing milliions of times, but no dice. Anyone know how to fix this?
EDIT:
There was a time where it showed my internal storage and I used the File manager to go in and erase the Voodoo folder and stuff. But still nothing. And everytime I check the "Re-partition" option in Odin, I get an says that Data wipe failed. I'm really stuck here guys!
EDIT2:
Now it says:
"update media, please wait
E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl10
(Invalid argument)
E:copy_dbate_media:Can't mount DBDATA:
your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions"
If I selsect "format internal sd-card" I get the same error.
boot into recovery, clear cache, do a reset and then clear dalvik the reflash 2.1JFD make sure to check repartition box, after it is done then root and then flash a custom rom of your choice

If I'm not mistaken, CWM is the only one with that option. I don't have CWM installed.
AWESOME!
Seems to have worked... I got all my storage space back.
Only problem I have is, low application storage.

[Q] Completely reset i9100

Hello,
i really tried to find answers around before asking.
I have tryed different roms on my i9100, cm7, cm9, rr, miui. Now i have a tonn of folders from apps that are not even installed on my phone. Now what i want is to get rid of all the trash in my phone, like leftovers from apps i installed with previous roms and make a clean install of cyanogenmod 9.1.
How do i do that?
I would really appreciate any help. Tutorials, links, everything you guys can give to help me out.
Thank you
full wipe, install cm9, erase internal sd card
I normally do the wipes in cwm and format usb storage.
do the following and nothing of the old files will be left.
reboot to recovery
wipe data
wipe cache
mount and storage
format cache
format system
format data
mount cache
mount system
mount data
flash the rom
wait for the installation
Flash a samsung stock rom, keyin the following code using phone keypad *2767*3855# . Is a master factory format code.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Do this step by step :
1. to format internal and external mmc, connect your phone in mass storage mode and format each drive with windows format tool (right click on drive icon -> format)
2. to format flash memory go to recovery wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalviq cache
3. Install rom

[Q] Dummy needs help! In TWRP recovery with all partitions formatted...

I'm sure I qualify for some sort of noob trophy. Having said that, here's my situation: My DNA is rooted w/S-Off, TWRP v2.6.1.0. I have run most of the sense 4 and 5 roms and briefly Newt's GPE v1.0.4. I wanted to flash the official cyanogenmod 10.2. I downloaded the rom and gapps zips and then booted into recovery. From the wipe menu, I did factory reset and advanced wipe of cache, dalvik, and system. Prior to flashing the new rom, I had to step away from the process to help with the kids. When I returned to my DNA, I remembered that I wanted to eliminate the duplicate storage between /data/media and /sdcard that was eating up all my internal storage. As you can likely now guess, my [email protected]$$ formatted the data partition to wipe the sdcard without having ever flashed the rom! I'm now left sitting in recovery with an empty phone. I have my TWRP backups saved on my Windows 7 cpu. What's the SIMPLIEST method to either get one of my backups or a rom.zip onto my sdcard? I thank you in advance for anyone willing to help me out!

Step 0: boot to recovery
Step 1: adb devices //if it isn't detected: Advanced > adb sideload > adb devices again > cancel sideload
Step 2.1 TWRP backup option: adb push <directory of TWRP backup, without "<>"> /sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/
Step 2.2: New ROM option: adb push <rom directory> /sdcard/ // you may also need do do this for gapps
Step 3: Restore backup or flash ROM
Thanks, Walther! I wasn't able to get the backup to push, but I had the Tranquil Rom zip on cpu as well and I did successfully push it over to my DNA. It's booted and setting up as I type this. I'll hook up to cpu, when done, and transfer the backup to sdcard. Then, maybe, I'll be able to restore back to where I was before I borked everything up.
Thanks again!

[Q] Clockwork Mod Recovery

Hi guys, I wonder can anyone help. I done a backup using Clorkwork Mod before I flashed a new ROM onto my phone. Now when i am trying to restore the backup onto the phone using CWM it completes the task but whenever I reboot the phone it gets passed the first samsung screen but hangs at the second SAMSUNG screen where the text is pulsing.
I have tried Wipe / Data factory reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvick and fix permissions. None of these seem to make any difference. The only thing that has worked in flashing a new ROM but I do not want to lose any of my apps /configs.
Any suggestions guys would be much appreciated.
try
first remove battery and wait 30 sec...
insert battery goro cwm wipe data cache
takeout battery .wait 30 sec and gito cwm and follow this step
Step 1: Go Advanced > Wipe > dalvik cache
before heading to Mounts & Storage > Wipe /
cache
Step 2: Reboot your device, and the boot loop
should be gone. If not, repeat the steps up until
Step 1, where you’ll want to go to Mounts &
Storage > Wipe /data > Wipe /cache before
rebooting.
