Its not screen mirroring he's talking about. From what he explains from he's post he can only watch movies, listen to music and watch pictures from sony's apps.. What that explains to me is that he's utilizing the throw function, not screen mirroring witch is making any DLNA certified device into a network player.
Screen mirroring is basicly the same as connecting the tablet to a monitor with HDMI. Showing a mirror image from the tablet (Hence the name "Screen Mirroring") except it sends the signal through the wireless network and to the tv instead.
I can do the same as the OP can through dlna (throw fuction), but screen mirroring is, for me, only viable through a MHL adapter since my tv is an LG tv.
But in case you need to know how I use throw, then here's how I do it. (Its quite easy):
Under settings, got into Xperia.
Tap throw settings.
Tap Throw to choose your desired output (Ie. TV, PC etc. Must be DLNA compatible)
Tap "Add new device"
Tap ok and wait for the device to search your network and lookup your desired device.
Choose your device from the list.
Once the device is added you can tap throw again to make it active.
Enjoy your videos etc on your tv.
Once you have set this up you can enable or disable throw whenever you want from within the apps (Album, Movies, Walkman)

Video out through WIFI, possible?

Hi, was wondering if its possible to stream what appears on the device's screen to a tv through wifi. I mean the same way you can use a MHL video cable. I got a dlna tv and I can stream video and music, but I would like to stream what appears on the screen cause I would like to use my workout app through tv's screen instead of sgs2's screen.

I think there is a Samsung app for some Samsung TVs.
Unfortunately, I do not know a dlna streaming app which will connect the SGS2 to any dnla tv via wifi.
If you find a solution, let me know (via PM).
You should have a pre-installed app called AllShare on your phone that lets you stream to any compatable device from your phone using wifi. But must be compatable obviously.

Background video-streaming via AllShare

Hello Community!
I use video-streaming via AllShare to my Samsung TV. It works just great. Atm i am using the AllShare Cast Dongle by Samsung.
The problem is while streaming i can't use my mobile because the videoplayer for example has to be in the foreground. As soon as I switch to another program like Taptu the video stops streaming.
Is there a possibility to use video-streaming in the background just as the musicplayer does? Because while streaming music I can use my mobile as I want.
Thanks for any help.
MX Player supports Background Play for videos. But for audio only :/
Nope there isn't as far as I know. I also got the Dongle and it mirrors the screen 1:1.
Maybe it would work if you pop out the video and use it as overlay, but not sure.

Thank you. Tried this alrdy but this feature isn't available whole streaming. This feature would be just a great thing.
AllShare Cast is for mirroring your phone screen so use it for playing games or browsing internet.....
AllShare Play is for streaming audio/video/pictures to your TV. Phone can be used as normal in the meantime.

Yeah, thank you, but AllShare Play is an online service. I have to register an online storage and a PC first. That's not what I want.
And I don't want to share my movies with dropbox or Samsung. Or did I totally misunderstood something?

I think you understood right. The Dongle supports only AllShare Cast and not AllShare Play, hence it won't work that way anyway if I am not wrong.

From your post I understand that whilst streaming video to tv I can use my phone/tablet as normal.
I have tried this numerous times but as soon as i try to switch from allshare play it closes.
Could you explain how to get this feature working.
I am using samsung galaxy note and samsung galaxy tab 2 7inch, both have the same issue.
Thanks

Screen Mirroring Hardware using our Galaxy Note 3?

I'm sure everyone is somewhat familiar with Samsung's AllShare Cast dongle that's used to wirelessly "cast" media from a Samsung device(your Note 3) to the AllShare Cast hardware dongle/device attached to any compatible TV... What I'm curious about is does anyone have experience with any of the other hardware devices used for screen mirroring or "casting" directly from their device to an attached dongle or TV? In your opinion, what's the BEST out there? I've already got a Chromecast and it works well for what it's supposed to do...it streams NetFlix, Youtube, Hulu Plus, Google Play Music, Google Play Videos, but it DOESN'T stream directly from a mobile device....YET. So it doesn't fully meet my needs right now. I know the Roku is an option, but I was just wanting your opinions on any device you prefer.
Thanks guys!
I recently got the Chromecast and wish it did everything, but only time will tell.
This is probably in the minority, but I use my server/htpc with XBMC to play everything else. XMBC allows DLNA devices, so I can stream local content on my phone to the computer. I also use it to stream some other content. For example, I use Anime Plus app to watch some anime. It gives me the option to use external players, because of this I choose the default Samsung player and then click the AllShare icon to send it to my computer. If there are other apps out there that allows you to use the default video player, then you should be able to do the same.
For music, I use Subsonic since it's also on my htpc computer, but I rarely play music through my TV.

[Q] Need Video Player supporting .VOB & Screen mirroring

Hi,
Need some help regarding video Player for galaxy S3. Looking for a application that supports .VOB file playback also with option to screen mirroring with my TV SONY BRAVIA W650.
I went through many apps that supports .VOB but that doesn't have screen mirroring. Is there any application on the market to do this.
If that is not possible is there any way to make this possible.
Example :
Samsung mobile ( S3) native video player support screen mirroring but doesn't support .VOB format. I tried MX PLAYER which supports .VOB but it doesn't support screen mirroring.
Hope to get any suggestions or help to solve this.

no, you dont have to enable it through mx player settings.
enable on your tv screen mirroring mode, open the normal samsung settings of your phone, enable screen mirroring on your phone and search your tv. now your tv should display your phones content. now you can open mx player and play your video.

Portable DVD player screen casting

Hi,
not sure if this is the right forum but I figured I'll try here.
I recently purchased a two pack android portable dvd player tablet (DDAUTO DDA10D). It runs android 6.0 has HDMI out but not in. I would like my kids to be able to watch the same DVD and It does support screen casting and that works great if you play stuff over wifi, however...as soon as you enter a dvd or open the dvd player app it just turns off casting saying "disconnect screen from casting". The manufacturer does say this is not a supported feature but I was just wondering why? The DVDPlayer app (com.hcn.dvdplayer) must have something build in that stops casting when it launches. Is there any way to overwrite that or is there any other dvd player app I could install that has access to the internal dvd drive? I have not found one yet as they all assume it's just video files on internal storage. I've also installed multiple other screen casting apps with the exact same result. Somehow there must be a way to continue casting when a dvd plays as there are external dvd players from LG or Samsung that can cast to a tv if wanted and it does have build in DRM support so I don't know why this player would prevent that. Or could there be an additional app/feature installed that watches for the dvd player to launch and interrupts casting because of some Chinese copyright fears?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
That's weird. I have been using it since last summer, still no problems, everything works fine. I think it is a perfect little entertainment center for kids! Very easy to set up and use. I have spent a long time searching for a portable dvd player that supports both touch screen and HDMI function, so I can play movies and music on my phone for my kids while traveling.
