hello all
i have HTC ONE X+, and updated to JB 4.2.2, my experience, this android version is very bad in so many ways, and mainly, it drains the battery in unbelievable way, my current software version ( 2.18.401.2 )
i want to roll back for my previous software with the old android version ( 4.1.1 OR 4.1.2 )
is it possible ??
Not without using a custom rom or a backup. With the latest update came a new hboot version.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2

First of all, root access is required to install a custom rom. Kindly read this thread on how to.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213910
And my thread about the difference between root and unlocking the bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46057784
As for the battery drain..etc. I think you are doing something wrong, so you might want to try to install a sense 5 based rom if the only issue you are having is overall performance. Viperx+ or Android Revolution HD both have sense 5 base but with a lot of performance tweaks which I personally am experiencing.
However concerning downgrading to sense 4 , with the updated HBOOT as stated by the previous poster, I don't know if its possible to install sense 4 with the new HBOOT (I don't have the enough knowledge to tell you if it will work or not)
TL;DR : You need root access to do anything concerning the software version.
P.S this is the wrong section. Please follow the forum rules and post all Q&A threads in the specified section:

You can roll back if your willing to loose your warranty, unlock bootloader via htc dev, flash custom recovery (TWRP) and follow this thread, just don't update to 4.2.2 and your done. Once back to 1.17.401.1 you can relock youe bootloader if you wish, personally I would stay rooted. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419784&page=3

thanks for clarifying, Viperx+ or Android Revolution HD they are costumed roms, i am really looking for something official, ill try with the new HBOOT, and if didn't work , ill do as boe experience
thank you
Don't forget to flash the boot.IMG for the stock.zip(I'm my shared folder or inside stock.zip) when flashed stock .zip. When you have stock .zip installed, if you wish to be fully stock, then flash stock recovery for 1.17.401.1 and relock bootloader

So right off the bat I have very little knowledge of rooting and flashing roms. I did however successfully unlock, root and flash CM10 onto my AT&T HOX a few months ago. I want to try out the ViperX rom but after reading the install instructions I noticed that I needed to have HBOOT 1.31 or higher and I have 1.14. The only way to get the higher HBOOT is to have a compatible CID # from what I can tell mine isnt on the list included in the link that they posted. Is it really required? What would be my options if I wanted to change to the ViperX Rom?
Thanks in advance!

first off you are posting to the HTC One forum not the HTC One X. You are aware that flashing roms not made for your device will brick your device, right? If you have a HTC One X find out if it is the AT&T version and make your way over the the right forum. If it is the HTC One Turge confirmed on facebook that he will be making a viper rom for the HTC One. Just wait
Hi All,
Been an Android guy since the G1, but that was also the last time I had anything HTC. Picked up a One yesterday and I'm so happy to be back.
Did a bunch of reading before getting the phone. I wanted to make sure I didn't do anything irreversible. Before I received the phone, I'd read that you couldn't get S-Off with 1.27.531.11, as they'd patched the HBOOT (even though it's still 1.44.) So once I got the phone and confirmed it was on 1.27.531.11, I performed my first step:
1. Downgraded from 1.27.531.11 to 1.27.531.8.
Next:
2. Unlocked using htcdev
3. Flashed TWRP as recovery
4. Installed Android Revolution HD 4.0 Google Edition
All went smoothly! Because I had no issues with this, I decided it was worth it to push on and get S-Off and SuperCID. I read Vomer's guide many times over, and was about to get rolling with revone, when I found another guide ([GUIDE] PRE-S-OFF - IMPORTANT INFO - Read Before Going To S-OFF Threads!) which contained the following:
You are on or flash a STOCK Sense 5, Android 4.1 ROM! (NOTE: 4.2 Software may be OK however for your best chances use the oldest you possibly can!!
But as a result of #4, I'm now on a GPE 4.3 Rom. This gave me pause.
So, two (and a half!) questions really:
1. Should I flash back to a 4.1 or 4.2 rom prior to trying to get S-Off through revone? If so, what rom should I use? My best guess, if this is necessary is Team Nocturnal's Stock Rooted 1.27.531.8
2. Is there anything else flashing Android Revolution HD 4.0 might have done that would cause problems when trying to use revone to get S-Off? I still have Hboot 1.44, and I don't *think* flashing that rom would have somehow made this the patched version present in 1.27.531.11, but I just want to be sure of what I'm doing. (That question sounds so noobish! But better safe than sorry, I'm thinking.)
Thanks in advance, guys. Really didn't have a great community around my last phone, and I'm psyched to be back amongst a big group of tinkerers.
And from that same guide:
Are not using a GE ROM, 4.3 Rom or on stock 4.3 software
So it definitely seems like I should flash something older first. Just want to confirm what would be best (and make sure there's nothing else I need to do as well prior to using revone.)
All set. S-Off and SuperCID achieved.
For anyone who finds this thread down the road:
As long as you've downgraded to 1.27.531.8, just make sure you're on a 4.2.2 or earlier rom. Multiple reports of revone not working with 4.3 roms. You're on an older rom after doing the downgrade, so if you don't flash anything after that, you're ready to use revone.
Thank you for the info! I had wondered the same thing!

Noob question but I cannot find the answer – one that I trust and can, with confidence, understand. Where can I find stock version of 4.3 (or 4.4 for that matter). I"m still on 4.1.2. I'm so looking to get a newer version. Why? I don't know exactly but I'd say because I've read reports that it runs smoother, faster and better on battery.
Too, is there a site that has all the possible ROMs for the HTC One (att)? Recommendations?
I assume that I, after I find the rom I want to install, boot into recovery, wipe the device and then install (having found the downloaded rom file on my sim)? Yes??
Thanks! Thanks! Thanks in advance!!!
stock rom if you are s-on you need to relock your bootloader
http://www.htc.com/us/support/news.aspx?p_id=628&p_name=htc-one-att
all the roms here and in this forum work on the att version

1. It is in the link I sent you in your other thread asking questions.
2. I believe you.
3. Stock RUU is the one that came from the factory. If you are running Bulletproof ROM then you are NOT stock. There is a repository of stock RUU's, it is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617644
However if your phone is Asian/Unbranded as you say, the stock RUU is in the link I provided you in the other thread--the link I keep referring you that has the answers to your questions.
If you are asking academically, the way to tell if you have stock now or not (but remember, we already answered this--you do NOT) is to look in your System Settings->About Phone->Software or somesuch, and you can then find the software number or build number or kernel version and google these to see if they are stock or not.
4. Use the Search tool to learn that you CANNOT S-Off via Windows, and you MUST S-Off via Ubuntu 12.04 (and newer). You can visit the http://unlimited.io/ website here to learn exactly how to S-Off and that you CANNOT do it with Windows.
Hi guys I have an AT&T HTC ONE M8 and it was rooted and running 4.4.4 and TWRP and then something happened to it which caused me to go RUU and restore the device and unroot it and everything. Then I was on 6.0 and rooted it with the HTC ONE M8 rootkit and flashed SuperSU and TWRP on it and currently its still running rooted 6.0 with TWRP, I don't like marshmallow and I want to downgrade to kitkat or lollipop. My bootloader is unlocked and I am S-ON! Please someone explain very thoroughly how I can downgrade as I am not 100% tech-savy as we speak.
Thank You Guys So Much!
You can simply TWRP flash a 5.0 based M8 ROM, or restore a 5.0 backup and it will work. I believe the same is also true for 4.4.4. But not 4.4.3, as it is not compatible with newer firmware (hboot, radio, etc.). And you need s-off to downgrade that firmware.
Be aware, whatever you think you are gaining from downgrading; you are losing by not having years of Android security updates (patches to vulnerabilities, etc.).
Thanks Mate! Can you redirect me to a 5.0 Rom?

Not specifically, no. You can search the ATT Dev section for 5.0 ROM as easily as I can. Or if you don't need or want an ATT based ROM, you can also look in the "international" Dev section: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development
Also, ROMs which have been updated (Android 6, 7) may or may not still have links to 5.0 versions.
Alternately (and probably easier to find) just restore a stock TWRP backup of a 5.0 ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
You don't need (or want) to restore the data partition, so it is essentially the same as flashing a ROM (although getting the files to the right location is a bit trickier). Also, no need to install stock recovery (as getting an OTA update is not what you want). Then root if desired.
