titanium backup issues - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I have done the rooting instructions as per threads in the dev forum and that worked great, I can run TB and restore apps etc... without any issues. I can restore Apps and it is fine. If I restore Data then the app will have various problems from not being able save the game and not exit properly generating an android error stating as such, to having the app not even load as in the case of the angry birds starwars 2 game.
I could not find any similar issue posted yet so I am hoping someone has some ideas of how to resolve this.
Thanks for any help that can be provided!

What I did was the following:
Got to about phone and below the Kernel Version there is the build version press it about seven time fast. Just like you would do to do the Easter Egg trick. This will unlock the development section in settings. Enable debugging in the development section and Titanium Back should work.

In terminal emulator execute su restorecon -R -v /data/data after your done restoring apps and data. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46026078

Before I ROM it

I want to back-up some things--mainly the wife's angry birds stats. Trouble is that every post I read talks about loading things using the market after the tablet is ROMmed.
I've tried putting superuser on manually but it doesn't seem to recognize root explorer. All this after following the root instructions found here.
Angrybirds backup, superuser ... is not available in the gtab market (hadango) found on the device when stock. AppBrain doesn't seem to have any way to get the appbrain app onto the tablet.
I need advice on how to get apps on the tablet or to get superuser to recognize root explorer, or perhaps just how to get angrybirds backed up.
I use titanium backup or mybackup root!

Respectfully, what you use isn't the question really. If I can't get superuser to work with it then I'm still stuck.
So to restate here, I need a way to get these apps onto the tab before its rommed, or to make superuser to work.
honestly, I thought my wife would freak when I lost all of her angry birds saves, but she said it was "fun" to have to do it all again.
For superuser:
Install ES File Explorer from market
Use ES to install Z4root from xda
Run Z4root to root tab
Test root using Root Explorer
For backup:
Install Titanium
Perform backup of User Apps
Flash ROM
Install Titanium
Restore User Apps backups
According to this link: http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/ which I got from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008245 I am rooted.

You can trust the link. Lots of good info there.
If you are on a stock rom, you are not rooted (unless have you used something like Z4 to root it). All custom roms are already rooted for you. Anytime you nvflash back to stock you will not be rooted.

Well I remember looking for an answer to root and finding several places saying that I would have root after following those instructions. I guess I let my experience with rooting got in the way of understanding. That or nobody thought to mention that you don't need root to load a new recovery image or a ROM.
z4root it is. Thank you for your time and attention to my small problem.

No problem. It's all a learning experience. I knew absolutely nothing about android 3 months ago. When installing signed zips (which is what you install via recovery or cwm, the install scripts set permissions to perform the installations. Nvflash, also has root access. It' only you the user that doesn't have it when android boots on the stock rom.
Android is a big learning experience. There are no manuals and the only place this all exists is either in a post somewhere or in our minds. What 'goodintentions' did by creating the dummies site was try to make it as much a one stop shop as possible for new (and old) users to get the most out of their gTabs, but, there is just so much and each rom has different nuances that it's not possible to put everything there. Especially since he alone is footing the bill to keep the site going.
You also have to remember that not everyone is an expert and we all benefit by putting our collective minds together and helping each other. What one person doesn't remember another user may & hopefully help out. Just as hopefully you can do the same to someone else with your experieces.
Anyway, didn't mean to preach...time to get off the soapbox. Hopefully you can now do what you set out to do & if you need more info, feel free to post again.

Yea, well so much for z4root. It does do a good job of restarting the tab though.

Are you saying it didn't work? I used it on my gTab & Cruz Reader without problems. It's really simple. Install, single butten press & it will reboot. Where did you download from? How do you know it didn't work? After install/button press/reboot, open Terminal Emulator, type su & return. Does it respond with a # prompt...if so you have root access.

Hey guys I got a quick question...
I just got my 3D today coming from the Evo and got it rooted and everything no problem...do I flash miui and restore a backup from the miui I was running on my Evo and almost every thing seems to work without problems except a select few like bejeweled and stardunk...so I just completely deleted the data, uninstalled and reinstalled but nothing...they just hang at the initial bootscreen then close...anyone have any idea what's going on..
Any insight would be much appreciated

Hard to say exactly what is causing them to hang and close. If these apps are free, have you tried installing the latest version from the Android Market?
When you said, deleted the data, I'm not sure if you're referring to the application specific data or the data partition. A few important areas to erase in troubleshooting the specific applications:
1) Erase the application's data directory under /data/data/<package name>.
2) Erase the /data/dalvik-cache directory.
3) Erase the /cache partition (on most ROMs this wont have an impact, but some move dalvik-cache to this partition instead of the default /data partition)
If those three methods don't work, in addition to uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of the application, the next best step I'm aware of would be to look at the logcat to see the output the applications give when they close.
There is an application the market, aLogCat which makes it easy to obtain a logcat. If you could open the app, let it crash/close and then grab the logcat, it should contain the information necessary to start troubleshooting. If you wanted to post the information back up here, we could take a look and try to help!
Hope that helps!

Based on the small portion of the error messages you posted, essentially two, those are cryptic. Unfortunately, those aren't very general terms or error codes. You'll have to revert to the developer for an explanation.
Perhaps some else on here is familar with that application and can provide more insight but as for general application errors go, I haven't seen those before.
Hope that helps point in the right direction!

[A] Can't Defrost apps with Titanium Backup on ICS

I didn't notice anyone had a posted a solution to this problem, so I thought I'd do so in case anyone else ran into it.
I was able to freeze apps fine with Titanium Backup on the latest ICS leak (XXLPB as of right now) but ran into some problems when I wanted to defrost them. Titanium Backup said they were defrosted successfully but they still were listed as frozen and didn't appear in the app drawer.
Here is how to solve the problem:
1. Find /data/system/packages.xml with Root Explorer or an equivalent
2. Make a backup of packages.xml right away in the same folder in case we mess anything up any need to restore it later
3. Copy packages.xml onto the root of your internal or external storage
4. Plug your device into your computer and copy packages.xml from the root of your storage over to your computer
5. Open the packages.xml on your computer with your editor of choice - I suggest Notepad++
6. Search for the string {enabled="2"} (without the { }). Every line ending in this represents a frozen app. The lines should look something like this:
Code:
<package name="com.sec.android.widgetapp.socialhub" codePath="/system/app/SocialHubWidget.apk" nativeLibraryPath="/data/data/com.sec.android.widgetapp.socialhub/lib" flags="1" ft="11b7e237e00" it="11b7e237e00" ut="11b7e237e00" version="1" sharedUserId="10001" [COLOR="Red"]enabled="2"[/COLOR]>
7. Now for every app you wish to unfreeze, replace {enabled="2"} with {enabled="1"} (again, without the {})
7. Save packages.xml, move it back onto your phone's storage, and use Root Explorer or an equivalent to replace your original packages.xml at /data/system/packages.xml with your new one
8. Reboot

See this post for a way to freeze and unfreeze system apps without messing with the packages.xml file. Thanks polzovotel.
Will doing this then allow titanium backup to freeze/defrost apps as it should, or do I have to do this each time I want to defrost an app?
You will have to do this each time you want to defrost an app.
However, I would imagine it would be pretty trivial for a dev to make an app to automate the process. Unfortunately, I don't have the coding knowledge to do that.
Seems daft I cannot defrost apps on Android 4 in titanium or my tool box just doesn't work.
Not really getting any help from the app developers either!

Hmmm, so you both have some apps successfully defrosted using this method and some not. And I'm assuming you have double checked to make sure you did the process correctly and made the changes to the right app references in the file.
I'm just brainstorming here, but can you think of anything that the apps which didn't defrost have in common? Are they all user apps, systems apps, on SD, protected apps,...etc?
cant defrost
umm, first scuse my "english"
maybe something is not function well in my phone
but i think too that the problem are some apps that has variuos services running
have you tried using the gemini app?
thanks
wow thanks johhny

here's what i did:
replace {enabled="true"} with {enabled="1"}
There is a nice option in in the ICS rom itself - to disable/enable applications. So there is no need to deal with the packages.xml file - just use native interface:
For me - working w/o any issues.

That is a good solution, but it only works for system apps. Otherwise if it is a user app your only choice is total uninstallation... which is less than ideal in some circumstances.
I thought I found a work around for user apps by using Titanium backup to convert them to system apps so you could disable them through the native interface...but this led to apps disappearing from the system... so it looks like it isn't a viable workaround.

Replaced the values from

But I also saw some lines with :
Code:
enabled="3"
What that value "3" stands for?

[MOD] Google Play Service Fix for Sense ROMS

Hello All,
If you are running a sense rom and having problems with google apps, YouTube, Maps etc with the google play service not installing. Well here is a fix for that.
How to Install?
1.) Download update.zip and place on root of SDCard
2.) Reboot into recovery
3.) flash update.zip
4.) Wipe both caches
5.) reboot
6.) update google apps, and install Play services
Hopefully this helps anyone having problems with this. I have tested this on vigor360, but i don't see what it wouldnt work on other sense roms.

Yeah...its just replacing the package.xml file in the /data/system directory. The reason people are having problems is the gms or Google Play Services didn't have permission in that file or more simple put all the gms lines are missing from the file So when you went to install it. It checks the file and because the gms stuff isn't there it denies it or you get that shared id error. All this file does is add the gms lines needed for Google services nothing else is changed or modded.

Yup that's what needs to happen. The thing is they need to go in a certain area within the file so I'm doing a little testing to make sure it doesn't screw up. Theres one other thing I'm gonna try is using the permissions folder and creating a separate file and add it to that directory instead of the package.xml

So was this updated? I'm having an issue where Google Hangouts force closes after a while and won't stop until I uninstall and reinstall it, so I was thinking about giving this a try. I think Hangouts ran for 6 days this last time before it started forceclosing.

Possibilities to export all installed apps to a reinstallable “package” or something?

Hello, (if this thread fits somewhere else, then someone can move it :> )
I am reinstalling roms once in a month or so. It is always nice to test the phone with a lot of apps to see how the phone and the rom react and how much it can perform. But it is a bit horrible to reinstall all apps everytime i install a new rom. Is there a way to export all apps to a big package i can install again on a new installed rom?
Is there a way to export/package all apps installed on the phone to one packet or something? Instead of installing all apps in a horrible sequence from google play.

Instead of installing all apps in a horrible sequence from google play.

first of all this wrong section
anyway search for flashable .zip tutorial
also there s always backup option in pc app of device.
like what Kies3 application backup for samsung galaxy devices
:good:
Why everyone are making new off-topic threads !!
We need a banner or something at the top to make it clearer that this is for Android Wear, not some general Android section.
The forum page defaults to newest devices (at least for me) and Android Wear is at the top, I think that's why random posts keep ending up in here.

There is indeed. Open Titanium Backup Pro > Batch Mode > Recovery Mode > create update.zip from either user and/or system apk with or without data.
I want to find exact this type of forum so thanks
