[Q] Photos not saved to Gallery. Gallery folders missing - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Hello
I'm a noob with a rooted HTC One that I just bought. I have very little experience with rooted phones. Never owned one before and never rooted anything.
My phone is working well except that when I take pictures or video, they disappear. They don't show in the gallery. I can find them in the file system using a file explorer. I cannot make new Gallery folders either. I tried installing 3rd party apps and they don't work either. Maybe the file system did not get properly configured. Is there a way to do a fresh reinstall of the default Gallery app? Or are you aware of a Gallery app that will completely install its own system that might work?
I am on android 4.3.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Mike

Try quickpic, it's free in the playstore.. Not sure what's going on with your gallery to be honest. But I only ever use quickpic gallery on my phones..

Gallery on 2.3.4 ?

Climbed all the forum and the gallery is not working anywhere. I tried with other models of Motorola, it's not working. Everywhere one problem "loading......."
Question!! Is there even a working gallery?????
I don't even use the stock gallery app since it is the most awful gallery app I have ever used.
I use QuickPic from the Android Market, it is a small app and it is the best gallery app I have ever used.. I know a lot of people loves it.
you should give it a try.
I also use the QuickPic(as a standalone application),but when photographed immediately want to see photos of a built-in gallery, but it does not work
stock gallery works fine for me

ok then you have a problem with something being corrupted..
I'm not sure if this would help but have you tried clearing the data from gallery under the menu/settings/apps/manage apps/all apps ??
if this doesn't help something is corrupted somehow.
I guess the phone UI has been localised by instructions from 4pda?
My friend bought Photon 4g recently and it have such modifications and broken stock gallery.
Yesterday i sbf-ed his phone, rooted, etc, and only apply ru_UA locale using morelocale2. Stock gallery works flawlessly.
I guess its an issue with something in additional localisation.

Not because of the localization, tried without it (but not SBF), still gallery "loading...."

Anyone replaced Gallery with Quickpic?

Struggling to replace dodgy gallery with quickpic on JB 4.1.2 so that the camera uses quickpic as the default viewer.
Tried freezing gallery, when I click on photo in camera nothing happens. Set default app for photos to be quickpic and the camera still uses gallery.
Any ideas. ..?

The first thing I do with a new device is ditch the Gallery in favor of QuicPic.
If you're rooted, no problem just delete the Gallery. If not, go to Settings/Applications/All/Gallery/ and click on Clear Defaults. Next time you view a picture select QuickPic and click on Clear Defaults.

If it was easy you'd of hired the guy at Home Depot to to it.

Thanks guys but not working. Uninstalled gallery. Clicked on a picture, chose quickpic, cleared defaults. When I click on a photo using the camera nothing happens, it's like the camera is hardcoded to use old gallery.will try installing stock camera and trying that

Is it possible to rename quickpic to the same name as old gallery and put it in the system folder?

Thats my question too, but with the nexus 4 gallery.
any solution?
-anyone tried the renaming idea, as suggested?
My guess is the two apps function differently and so google has changed our ability to use quickpic from the JB camera. Why? Think about it - if you use the camera from the lockscreen by swiping to the right, you can take a pic and review it without entering a password and unlocking your phone. But reviewing a pic this way gives you very limited options (eg you CANNOT set it as wall paper, nor can you email it or send it, which if you Could, would be a sneaky security flaw that would enable access into a locked device).
This means google has rewritten gallery to function differently according to whether it has been accessed via the camera from the lockscreen or whether you have accessed the camera after unlocking the device.
Quickpic probably doesn't have that ability, but I wish it DID!
I dunno - MAYBE WE ALL SHOULD EMAIL THE MAKERS OF QUICKPIC AND REQUEST THAT IT BE UPDATED SO AS T WORK WITH THE STOCK CAMERA?
Quickpic is an awesome app and it's way better than the stock gallery app!
when you disable gallery in apps manager it disables both the gallery and camera which means that their obvously linked together. they are both separate apks but still both part of the same app therefore meaning that it wouldnt really be possible to do it i dont think unless you were to modify the gallery app yourself you might be able to do it but would be hard XD from what i can think the camera apk kinda acts like a link if you think about it as opposed to its own app.
QuickPic cannot view TIFF files. I have alot of them copied from my PC to the SD card and cannot find a viewer that can see both those and the Jpegs. Anyone have any ideas?

[Q] [Help] Media Gallery Not Iinstalled

Hello everybody,
I've just installed a new ROM on my Razr XT910 (Way Away 1.0.5) and I'm having this problem with the media gallery everytime I take a picture and click on the miniature to open it.
The error message says: "Media gallery not installed"
Anyone knows how to solve it?
Thanks in advance.
You could always install a camera app from the Play Store and use it instead. (Make sure the app has the option to save pictures on your SD)
Also, let the developer of your ROM know of this issue so he/she can prevent future users of having it.

Thanks for your help Zack, I've already ask for help with the dev, but he just didn't answer.
Can you recomend a good (I mean the best) camera app to use on my Razr?
Thanks again.
I'm not sure about the system you're using, but Motorola camera applications are related to Motorola gallery applications. If you are using Droid RAZR M camera (MotCamera.apk, with an icon like this), you must have Droid RAZR M gallery (MotGallery2.apk) in order to access pictures from camera miniatures, otherwise you will have the error you said. If you are using Droid RAZR camera (BlurCamera.apk, with an icon like this), you must have Droid RAZR gallery (MotGallery.apk).

Well, I'm using the second one (Blur), so I'm gonna search for this MotGallery right now!
Thank you!
--edit--
I quit! I couldn't find the damn app for the gallery so instead I've just downloaded a third party app for the camera (Camera MX) and it's working fine right now.
Btw, this camera is really nice and quite better than stock... I'm using it as default. Thanks again for your help
You're welcome. The new camera and gallery applications are way better than the older ones and I haven't found a single bug since I first tried them, months ago, so I don't have the old files (BlurCamera.apk and MotGallery.apk) anymore, but I have the new ones (MotCamera.apk and MotGallery2.apk). You can easily replace them, just rename the old *.apk files to *.bak (if you want to back up them), push the new *.apk files to /system/app/, set permissions (-rw-r--r--) and reboot. You will then have both updated stock camera and gallery applications installed and working perfectly.
Camera is not really much different, but it's faster. Gallery is really better, completely different and awesome. And now you can access pictures with stock gallery from within camera miniatures.

Well... I'm a quite stubborn person so even with the other app working flawlessly, I did a deep search to find a way of getting my stock camera working, and that's what you said there is exactly what I did here. I've renamed the stock one to BlurCamera.apk.bak (just in case) and put the new files to the system directory with the needed permissions, and after the rebbot my gallery was working like a charm.
Thanks for the files anyway, even not using them I'm quite sure someone in the future may find it usefull when a problem like mine appear. And reading your post, people should get everything working with no issue!
Hail brother!

Best Gallery Replacement With Folders?

I'm not loving the stock gallery app on the Z2 because of the lack of ability to make folders. So I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for a way to fix this or a better gallery app.

Thanks, not so happy with this, nosense for me..
I don't think lack of X-reality is the main problem.
QuickPic is great and can be linked to your camera app too. However, due to KitKat limitations, you won't be able to delete/move/edit pics via QuickPic if images are on microSD.
If you're rooted, then not a problem.

Agreed rooted does bypass the annoying SD issues of Kitkat but devs are already wising up to this. Whilst Quickpic and others can delete, edit etc, some apps already can such as ES File explorer.
i.e. made my SD card the default for the camera. Took some pics. Used Quickpic to view and delete some. It appears deleted but reopen Quickpic and the pics reappear. Strangely enough, even via PC it didnt show all the pics that the phone was showing (nothing hidden etc) however using Es File Exp i was able to delete the unwanted pics.

You need to edit the platform.xml file under system/etc/permissions/ in order for any "USER" app to edit the external SD card.
This is a KitKat issue (not Sony).
Google for instructions.
Another alternative : Gallery Google as on Nexus 5,bonus : you can watch photospheres you made with Google camera from Play Store.
Nice extra to have on your Z2.
The only problem is that it is mixing random pictures in camera folder. There should be a different folder for the pictures taken be the camera.

Collections?
The other option is just to use Play Memories Collections instead of folders. Yes, this uploads your photos to Play Memories as well, but it does at least allow you to group and categorise the photos on your phone.

QuickPic is working flawlessly for me in MIUI 8 dev rom(MM), try reinstalling or deleting the cache and the data, if you cant make it work then try A+ gallery, or the google photos app, the MIUI gallery itself isnt half bad either, but quick pic is the best, I have to agree to that! Cheers

Bro i tried to wipe data of that app but after using it some hours when u delete any photo from that app it gets hang & u have to go to home & clear all recent apps.
After that if u delete any photo or take screenshot system get hang.
U must have to restart the phone.
After restart it works fine for sometime and after that creats same problem.
I only face this issue in MIUI 8 MM Roms.
Dont know why.
You may try sony's album app.
Sent from Note 3, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
Try A+ Gallery and you won't be disappointed.
Another tip... F-Stop is the closest to QuickPic.
