I've settled on Handcent for now, but I've been wondering what some of you guys are using. I've tried a couple others, but Handcent just seems fluid and is constantly updated and supported. Lots of themes and tools to utilize, if that's your thing.
Also, in addition to what SMS app you're using, is there an SMS app that will allow "reply to all" natively? I get group texts from iPhone users and when I reply it only goes to the person that sent the message to me.

I've been using Handcent since I moved to Android(always had dumb phones before)roughly three years ago. I like the set up,customizations and how smooth it operates. I also like that the app has strong support, although I'm sure that they all do.
Am I the only one who likes stock apps? Such as stock sms+keyboard? Sheesh. :x

Since I started with Swiftkey for a keyboard app, I NEVER could go back to stock on any phone (or tablet) - It ruined me for anything less!
And there are some stock SMS apps I like and have used. In fact I like the one on the OG and I seriously considered sticking with it, but I switched to Handscent for purely vanity reasons. I like to put a "signature" on my texts and the stock SMS won't let me do that. I do use the stock e-mail app, however!
+1 for SMS Popup. Also the Cyanogenmod version of the stock keyboard since it has a dark theme. Haven't tried it on the LGOG yet because I haven't gotten mine, but I imagine it will work.
Well, since the stock app has a reply to all feature, I'm just running that now. Handcent had some cool stuff, but all these group texts are killing me.
I can't believe Handcent doesn't have reply to all at this point.

I've used Swiftkey and Hancent before and I've always switched back to Stock.
Well, I used them on my Inspire 4g. But I ran other ROMs so I guess the keyboards were never exactly "stock"...
Meh! I can do without. The LGOG's stock is nice, for my preference anyway.
Am I the only one using go SMS pro? Lol.

I use the stock app. Not sure what makes any third party apps better. Would love to hear everyone's opinions on what makes them better.

And you're 100% positive that handcent is not Chinese or otherwise related to anything Asian? I don't see anywhere on their site stating that they're local, or European. And what proof do you have that they steal your info and sells them?
I don't find go SMS a resource hog at all actually so I don't know about that either.

Many third party SMS app comes with added features that aren't available on stock apps. For me, go SMS pro has two features that I don't see in other SMS apps yet, unless they're addons, and those are inter grated lock screen for the app itself and a private chest to store all your texts that u don't want ppl to see. It has screen popup notifications too so uh don't have to constantly access your SMS app to read or reply texts but I think handcent has the same feature.

I like Handcent for some of the features to customize and privacy aspects. Different backgrounds to choose from and privacy inbox to off load or keep texts in through their storage.
The stock is okay, but unless I've missed something it's fairly limited and bland as far as options.
I use go pro sms...haha....it works pretty well too!

I also use Go SMS. It's the only one I tried that allows me to use group messaging properly.

I always used the stock SMS app, never felt comfortable with anything else. I like the simplicity. Swiftkey keyboard plus the stock app= perfect minimalistic experience.
I use the stock sms and then either Swype or Swiftkey flow.
Sent from my UNLOCKED LG-E970 using xda premium
I'd live to use the stock app if only it has security integration. Just cuz the phone is locked doesn't mean ppl can't get into your phone and then read the text messages. Its an added layer of security.
Another advantage of go SMS pro (not sure if handcent has a similar feature) is that if u never delete your text messages and have literally thousands n thousands of text messages within a single contact, go SMS truncates the chain of conversations to the latest ones n if u scroll up, u can click show more messages to view older ones. This speeds up loading time when going into a conversation. Whereas in the stock app, it can take sometimes 5 or more seconds of delay since its trying to load all the old texts.
For example, my conversation with my gf has never been deleted lately, resulting in nearly 10,000 texts between the both of us. When I open our conversation in go SMS pro, it works fine. But using the stock app can take nearly 10-15 seconds n it sometimes even crash and freeze. So yeah, it can make a difference.

I'm constantly being 'auto corrected' by this damned keyboard. Many of my texts invlove abbreviations and acronyms and they always get guessed to the nearest real word. I have to go back and re-type them back in. I don't want to have to add 60 words to my dictionary. Is there a way I can turn off auto-correct, or a different keyboard app you recommend?
Cool story bro
Download another keyboard like SwiftKey or Swype.

Man i feel your pain , couldn't believe the trouble i was having with the HTC ONES Keyboard also , i really wanted to kee a complete stock look , but i just couldn't take it anymore , so i just downloaded swype from the playstore i've acyually been using it for quite awhile now , on my s3 , and man what a difference , i would highly reccomend it SWYPE , it used to be free now its 1 dollar .................
I have always liked SwiftKey keyboard. Now it has flow built in so you can swype or text. This keyboard allows you to type with a lot of mistakes and it does a really good job fixing it. The swype keyboard in the play store works really well for swyping but typing normal on it doesn't work near as good. Depends on how you like to text more. I switch between both of them all the time.

I can't understand complaining about the keyboard on an Android phone when there are tons out there to change to.
The stock keyboard had Swype too....
I actually really liked this keyboard compared to my stock s3's.
I love this keyboard.. I have used all the other major ones and always come back to AOSP. But then I got the One and I love it. No issues and it's integrated with Google's voice keypad and is slick. No complaints here at all

yah, this key sucks so bad. auto correction is terrible. slow response, will even "backfire" when you send the text cause you to stop for a bit and retype. weak!!!

I like Google's better simply because it corrects words like were to we're.
Problem using the default email app with Google keyboard. Any time you click on a word to fix it, it will automatically enter the word in between the old word. I like the fact that I can click on any word and see additional suggestions but for it to always ent the word in between doesn't work for me.

I believe there's a way you can add a nickname for contacts in the contacts app. Maybe it's a name it's having a hard time recognizing?
I have a hard time using that feature as I'm Hispanic and it has a hard time recognizing the Hispanic names I spit at it so I read about that nickname tip. I've yet to try it though.

Yeah I think thats it cause Katie seems to be the only one that works. But here's the catch it says the names like "text dad......" Then it says contact not found I don't have a clue maybe its a setting or they need to send a patch out. Thanks for the feedback

See that in language settings you have kept your native language. For your accent to match your native language should be kept. For example if you are in India you should set your language as 'English India'. Then it should work.
Hit thanks if I have helped you.
Sent from my Micromax A110 using xda app-developers app
But the thing is, I don't have an accent. I was born in the US speaking English. Would setting it to the alternate language so that it can recognize that languages names interfere with regular every day things that I'd say in regular English?

Nope...
If you have a Gear 2 or Gear S watch you won't be able to view or send sms from it.
Nah the only thing you're losing is stupid amounts of lag.. how this app can take a good few seconds to be usable is beyond a joke.
HelloSMS for me thanks.
Lol thanks guys, I haven't had a samsung since the s2, I just want to make sure..and no gear for so I'm good there.

What's the most customizable sms app, ive been tooling wth textra, liking chomp, tried qksms. Love being able to have different ringtones for different contacts, bubbles, etc. Ty for any input
Evolve is pretty good, lots of themes. Very clean look, fast, smooth.
I use evolvesms as well. The only thing I seem to have lost over the stock messaging app is MMS over wifi. I definitely loved that but I hate the stock messaging app more.
I stick to Hangouts. Simple and clean.
Not as many UI and ringtone features as other apps, but works well with my moto360 so can't complain.
Thanks all appreciate the advise
