Great find!!! Attempted same speed to put in "sleep" mode though in this scenario the quicker succession works better.

How good/fast is the GPS on the LGOG?

Hello folks,
I would like to ask you guys how is your experience with the GPS on the Optimus G, as in how fast and reliable is the GPS on it. I'm currently on the LG Nitro HD and as you can any of its users, the GPS is pretty bad on it. At times it can literally take more than 5-10 min to connect, and at other times it won't connect at all until I reboot the phone. I've used many apps to try and aid the locking speed of it but it just won't work at times. And when it does it can constantly lose it too.
I'm thinking of picking up the G one of these days but I'd like to be certain that this issue does not plague the G as well. Please share your experience with me.
Thanks,
Sean
P.s. another major issue is the compass, where it cant hold any bearings at all and constantly flails around in every direction. The only time it works is when I'm driving lol. The moment I stop, it goes nuts and takes my working GPS with it, messing up directions.

after about 5 seconds, if that
I played golf today and used the lgog as a GPS rangefinder. Got very accurate readings within a couple yards of a laser rangefinder my friend had. It also doesn't seem to use much battery, which is good.
Got a fix within 5 secs or so. Used it for a 4 hour round and had 70 percent left.

I'm finding the exact opposite right now with the battery use. I was getting a 45% drop overnight while I was sleeping. So last night I turned off the GPS to see if that was causing some drain, and I woke up with only 13% drain. I'm going to do further testing though to see if there are any other items that might be causing this.

Anyone give seeder a shot for lag?

Edit.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda premium
Android doesn't have lag. It suffers from low framerate at times, but latency is not the issue.
That said, the only place I ever see low framerate is when I have a huge widget list to scroll through.

Okay, just gave 1.1 a shot. Apps are in fact loading up faster when pressed but that's the only thing I notice so far. Can't have a final say on anything else because it's so hard to tell on a Quad Core device with Jelly Bean. But thanks for letting us know of this.
Haven't tried it myself but....
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/entropy-seed-generator-not-all-its-hacked-up-to-be/
There are valid concerns about lag and how the Android OS handles them, and there is discussion currently ongoing within the Android Code about this, but this fix does not address those issues and instead gives performance gains through boosting CPU speed. The developer himself stated that this could in effect reduce battery life, since the hack is waking the CPU every second.

I grabbed this a few days ago when you mentioned it on CTO (thanks buddy). I notice apps opening noticably faster when it's running. I have it set to "start automatically on boot" but any time I "remove all" from a home button long press, which I do after I've been on my phone for a while, the app stops running and I forget to restart it. I wish it would persist that.

I gave it a try but I feel the Note 2 is so freaking fast already that it wasn't necessary, with that said, there are definitely many other phones that I've owned where I noticed slowness immediately after rooting, so for those phones I wish I had this.

Not bad for a placebo app
I tried explaining the the thread that Steve Kondik isn't endorsing the app like they think he is. He performed his own tests, with his own compiled code and saw some inexplicable results.
Seeder didn't do anything for him on any device he has.
A moderator deleted it though, conveniently. They of course left behind the part where CM is allegedly endorsing it though.

can I get rid of the unlock delay?

If it did the same thing with a stock rom, it might be a problem with the phone. I'm using the i605 and I've been on beans build 10 and i have never had a delay problem.
How long is the delay usually?
The delay is almost un noticable. I would guess less than half a second. But there is a slight delay.

Well then even if that's the problem I guess we get to live with it. I know it's been talked about a lot here too. Never heard it was JB.
Oh well I'm far from important enough to need my phone so fast that a half second delay is gonna be a problem.

Thanks for your replies. I am not really annoyed by this. It only seems to do it when the phone has been at idle for a while. Its not something I would knock this phone for. This things a beast so I can live with a tiny delay. Haha. Thanks again and hope that maybe itll get fixed in either official 4.2 or maybe key lime

i got rid of the unlock delay by disabling the lock screen...been using my n2 this way for a month now. no pocket dialing or anything random...actually dont think i could go back to using a lock screen.
afaik it's an exynos issue. you can do a few things to get the most out of it, but the processor will always take a second to pull itself out of deep sleep.

[Bounty] always listening voice recognition for AOSP ROMs.

One big feature that this phone is missing that I wish it had in it is the always on voice recognition that the moto x has. Upon getting this phone I assumed that I would be forever without this feature. However, upon doing some research I discovered that the snapdragon 800 processor has a dedicated voice recognition core just like the moto x, the only difference being that nobody has taken advantage of it. So, since I'm not a developer by any means, I decided that I would turn to the amazing developers here at XDA to see what they could whip up.
Requirements:
-Must work on AOSP ROMs. (I use Houston's PA 4.0)
-Must actually use the voice recognition core as to not demolish battery life.
-Preferably in a flashable zip (although not required)
-must work on all variants of those who pitched into bounty.
I will kick off the bounty with $15 to whomever can get this working.
Running total: $45
Ghstudent: $15
Jeev_one: $15
Pools200: $10

Vzw g2 and Sony smart watch2

I just picked one up today at best buy today to scratch the itch that I've had for a while now. Idk if many like the idea but I'll give my initial impressions.
First off pro and con
* the band it comes with. Reason being is the one I got(which surprised me since I thought it would come with the rubber one) is metal and no one could get the links out. I am the definition of a skinny person. I had to buy the tool which arrives tomorrow.
Pros
* I like the screen size and being touch. (I was debating between the pebble also) looks good enough to satisfy.
* the notifications work better than I thought. The vibration when you get a text fb or any sort of notification is nice since I rarely feel it in my pocket.
*can control the play music app through the watch so I don't have to mess with the phone wile driving
Con's
* Facebook extension if you just choose the ppl you want it to show up doesn't seam to stay logged in.
*still skeptical since I was on the fence about getting one. Maybe a few days with it I'll start to enjoy it.
If you have questions I'll try to answer them for you

Yes this one work with all androids. I like the fact that I don't have to go to my pocket to check to see about a message. I don't always feel it when it vibrates since I don't like the sound. Its really easy to see it sun light just not in the dark with out turning on the back light

Letting y'all know I'll be returning the smart watch just the few days I've had it the watches battery got better but my phones battery dropped from 5 hours of screen on to 1-1/12 hrs. I'm not around a charger that often. I can't have it die on me that quick. I loved it just thought it would help battery life since I wouldn't be turning the screen on that often
