(Question) only h+ instead of 3g - Galaxy Note II Themes and Apps

Does anyone know a method just to stick with h+ data signals instead of switching to 3g.
Fyi in my area 3g reception is poor n always toggle between h+ n 3g.
The h+ signal is pretty good n it's enough for use also.
Therefore I thought if I can stick with h+ it will save my battery life.
Please comment your idea or solution.
Thnx in advance

You can only set your phone to your mobile providers Mobile Data capabilities. It is not something you can set to work at just h+... this depends on the strength of your carrier in the particular area you are at. Your phone will pick up the best signal it can. Mine also goes back and forth, depending where my location is... and the building structure I'm at (and how much interference there is between buildings, etc)... unless it's some hardware you can attach (like antenna on inside of back cover) to boost signal.
I remember for my S2 device... someone posted a way to just have a certain mobile data signal... but it didn't really work, just had the symbol, but obviously still can only get what my phone was able to pick up.
If someone else knows a solution I haven't heard of, would like to hear it.

Oh thnx.
Plus no one will try to create a mod to use the less power signal instead of 3g. So seems like this is it.
But my idea was if a developer can make a mod to stop looking for better signals after achieving h+ that's it.

Lol... H+ stands for hsdpa/hspa ...it is 3.5g...faster than 3g
The phone runs on H+ during data usage and 3g for calls

Oh my bad. Thnx for correcting me.
Anyway is there any way u know to then just stop on 3g cus I really don't want 3.5g.

Unfortunately there are no ways reported for 3g and H+ toggle as far as I know
Only 2g to 3g toggle is known

When there no data transfer it will show 3g and when data is being used it will show h+ or h

3G signal on x10i

Right I got me a bit of an issue.
Dunno if it's been covered by someone already, but there's only so much the search bar can do from my phone.
I am using X10i I am on O2-uk
Even when I am sat next to someone that has full 3G signal, I am totally unable to get anything.
I've had this phone for just a year now an idea have never had a 3G signal. The best I can do is get H
The status bar claims to have 3G bit as soon as I try an use the connection, for ANY reason, it instantly switches back over to H
So basically my issue is........ WTF!?!?
Why not ant I connect to through 3G? And does anyone else have this problem? Is there fix for it? An app or something I'm missing?

The infamous "H" ...
From what I understand H is better than 3G...in fact its 3.5G! Increased download speeds when compared to regular 3G..
"H"is a good thing..
Sent from my X10 using XDA App
Really? If that's the case then I should have seen 3G at some point in the last year when I had worse signal???
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Nope. Afaik 3g depends on availability in your area. Not related to signal strength.
Sent from my X10 using XDA App
Yeah mate the h is for hsdpa which is, as said above, better than 3g.
Edit: if phone can't get hsdpa it will go for 3g. If it can't get 3g it will search for edge (will just have an e). If it can't get e then u need to stop living on mars as u ain't got no mobile internet.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
You can't really complain some people have issues even getting 2g while your having 3.5g
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
Ok
Thanks guys. I was under the impression 3G was better than H
Cheers for clearing that up

Cycling between 3G, H, &H+ constantly! Any Ideas

I picked up my pebble blue SGS III about 5 hours ago and I noticed it is constantly cycling between the above data speeds.
Not sure what to do or how to problem solve this
I'm in the USA on at&t using a LTE micro sim
I have attached my APN settings.
Anyone else seeing this issue
Any help would be appreciated

I'm also using a micro Sim from my hox which is 4g lte. I don't know if that matters. But I am experiencing this as well. I'm with AT&T

This is the normal function on 3G. When you have data transmission it will use H+ or H, but when it finished, it returns to 3G to save battery.

I have this too with my SGS3 on AT&T. It makes sense I guess, but I've never experienced the constant cycling on any other phone I've had. It does appear to throttle up to H+ when using data but it just seems to act like a tweaked out druggy on the Vegas strip when idle.
I am trying to understand this. My AT&T GS2 never did this, but my int'l GS3 does constantly. Seems like there is more to the story. What am I missing?

As an above poster said, 3G and E (EDGE) takes up less battery than H and H+ so the phone automatically switches to 3G/E when there's no data being transmitted to save battery.

Question for AT&T users.

I had a question for you guys using the international on AT&T.
On my GS2 I remember when data was not being used and was idle the signal meter would show 3G and switch to UMTS and when I used the connection it would switch to H/H+ HSPA.
With my GS3 however, it's constantly showing H even when it's idle. It's NEVER really goes into UMTS mode even when it's idle. I've seen it switch to 3G for a split second every now and then, but then switches right back to H in a split second. In my status I see it's using the HSPA network, not UMTS. The times that I saw it switch to 3g for a split second (I happened to have the status open) I saw it switch to UMTS then switch right back to HSPA.
I know switching to UMTS when the connection is idle saves battery life So I'm wondering since mine doesnt switch to UMTS if it's affecting the battery life
I've tried different modems, in network settings it's set to Auto.
So my question (after that wall of text) is does your phone switch the UMTS when it's idle and show 3G? Or is it constantly showing H like mine?
I'm trying to figure out why the hell it wont stay in UMTS when there is no data activity. If it does switch to 3G/UMTS when it's idle anyone have any ideas what could be going on with mine?
anyone? lol

I actually asked this question myself a few weeks back and never got a straight answer. It would be nice to know, since mine is always on H. My S2 did the same thing, would always switch to 3g when idle.

Maybe you guys should try gokhanmorals fast dormancy app from the play store.
And maybe take a look at the thread that was floating around here about proper fast dormancy settings for at&t.
Mine switches from h to 3g as soon as it stops transferring data.

Mine switches to 3G as soon as data is stopped transferring. No problems here. and it will sit on 3G until data kicks in again and picks up to H+

hmm so it also happens to K Rich's phone. Can you do me a favor? from the dialer hit *#0011# what band does it say when it's connected to 3G/UMTS?
I can also get it to stay on 3G constantly by changing a setting in the advanced phone control menu, but then it doesnt switch to HSPA when data is active.
Sorry never mind. It doesnt do it anymore since i am on LG8 :/

[Q] SXZU 3G vs LTE which is better ?

please advice which is the better one, :good: going to buy one soon tnx
LTE of course
Aside from the modem that allows a faster data connection (download/upload) on the LTE they are exactly the same device!

LTE gives you faster performance on the data side.

but is that true LTE drains battery faster especially when signal is not good?? tnx

None is better. Only change speed on data and yet not everywhere. So C6802 is better if you don't have Lte and C6806/6833 are better if you have 4G. Lte drain more battery when using it, only on Internet as voice calls do not use it. Having more drain on my C6802 with poor signal, this is basic to all type of mobile network not especially for 4G.

That's not the case look on new iPhone 5s 4g tilktime is longer than 3g
Apple fans are hilarious! Swallowing everything without thought.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Sure, because you don't call on 4G or 3G. Voice call are still using 2G GSM or cdma2000. So how can the talktime be longer?

so basically, without good signal LTE will only drain more power and still be slow. is that correct? tnx

With a poor 4G signal it'll simply switch to 3G/H+ and always try to look for a good 4G. Same thing happen if H+/3G signal poor it drop and try to find it back. Only difference is that with a 4G phone it stop looking for faster network only when on 4G. After with a simple 4G/3G switch you will be able to enjoy full 4G speed when browsing Internet and can turn it off to limit battery drain when not browsing or when in a non or poor 4G area.
I do not have a Lte version only because shop in Vietnam advertise having the C6833 but don't have it and don't know when will. So I was impatient and bough the C6802 (my old phone died 1 month before).

Is H+ really slower than 3G?

I came from an iPhone 4s which is consistent with the 3g signal. I gave it to my wife when I shifted to the mega. Odd thing is I notice that I barely get 3g with the mega. It would be H+ or H but the iPhone seems to be faster.
Has anyone else noticed on this?
Is there a fix for this?
Sent from my GT-I9205 using xda app-developers app
H+ is 3G, if the signal is poor try a different modem.
How can be do that?
Thanks.
Sent from my GT-I9205 using xda app-developers app
H+ is something a lot faster than 3G itself.
The thing is that most of the people who use iPhone think that if they have 3G that's a miracle :victory:
Apple don't use the H symbol to represent the current network connection.

H+ is 3.5g so in effect faster that 3g. iphone software works differently than android and touchwiz also slows things down a bit. i think if your signal is like 1-2 bars then thats not optimum for data. my mega is on 4g and i get 30mb down so i am more than happy..........however my iphone 5 was no slouch on 3g! wait till we get some aosp roms which are lighter without all the bloat then compare
