BTU is British Unbranded.

Installed Kies on my Mac and found a FW update.
for some reason it won't download, device not connected?!
// edit: nevermind, tools -> install driver
Says Current FW
PDA:LE4 / PHONE:LE4 / CSC:LE4 (ORO)
Latest FW:
PDA: MF1 / PHONE:MF1 / CSC: MF1 (ORO)
Does Odin run on Mac FFS?

Heimdall is the Mac / Linux equivalent of Odin

ok so basically KIES 3.0 for Mac is a failure...it won't recognize the GT-i9300....
booted into bootcamp win8 and curiously enough, according to Samsung official Kies page, the recommended Kies version for i9300 is 2.0 not 3.0.
3.0 apparently for devices newer than Note III....
anyway, Kies 2.0 ran ok, updated latest FW suggested by program, now it's 4.1.2 but of course Orange branded.
I noticed there are several unbranded 4.1.2 FW on Sammobile, like the BTU you mentioned above for UK, but also found one for Romania apparently not operator linked, example:
UK - BTU July 2013 - i9300XXEMG4
RO - ROM August 2013 - i9300XXEMG4
Would it make a difference which one i install?
Right now Kies installed i9300XXEMF1 (ORO)
LE: forgot to mention, now the "software update" tab is visible in the settings / about phone menu.....in 4.0.4 it wasn't.

If you update it to COA or RO with XXEMG4 modem and your phone is locked, you will never could unlock it exept at the Orange but at much higher prices.

Btu are all unlinked to operators too. If you're in Romania, flash romania

[Q] I have the XWKI4 (2.3.4) and kies says that its that latest firmware available

Hi,
A few days ago I've unlocked and debranded my sgs2, flashed with odin the XWKI4 (2.3.4) firmware..
Today I saw on samfirmware that there exist a I9100XWKI8 (2.3.5) available..
I want to avoid odin (as I don't want a factory reset), so I connected my phone to kies, but Kies says that my version is the last one available..
Can anyone explain me why kies says that there is no update available for me?
Thanks
Btw, my phone info:
PDA: I9100XWKI4
PHONE: I9100XXKI1
CSC: I9100XEUKH2
In the same frigin pool m8...
hmm not many options.
For your region, that is the latest available.
Roll out of upgrades is not universal, it comes in spurts and dabs, with upgrades usually months behind the current version available.
Currently latest unofficial firmware out is KJ3.

Upgrading to latest ICS failes

Hello,
Trying to upgrade my Galaxy S II to latest ICS builde that came out today. I got a message on my phone that there is a new version. Tried upgrading through mobile data, WLAN and through KIES, but it wont upgrade. Through mobile and WLAN it fails after downloaded, reboot and installing 5%. With Kies it says that the phone is not supported in this recovery mode, something like that.
I have rooted my phone back in the days but I loaded original firmware back on it.
Model: GT-I9100
Android version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: I9100XXKI4
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKI8-CL616395 [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XWKI8
Any sugestions?
Kies says: Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies.
Current firmware version: I9100XWKI8/I9100XXKI2/I9100XXKI4/I9100XWKI8 (ODK)
Just a guess.. But you have to change your CSC back to NEE if that is what it came with

It is some software and settings that are different from place to place. The generic one in the nordic countries is called NEE. Kies will only recognize your software and offer an upgrade if all the software-versions represents one in their database.
Sometimes when flashing roms your CSC can change, and then you will have to change it back in order to be able to upgrade using Kies or Softwareupdate

And where can I find this CSC for Norway?
If your phone is branded, you will have to get that CSC, if not you will probably have to look for NEE
I have now rooted my phone with following firmware:
GT-I9100_NEE_I9100XWKI8_I9100OXXKI2_I9100XXKI4
It's got NEE, but still getting errors in kies: your device doest not support software upgrading via kies
I think I have found right kernel and firmware for my phone thanx to these sites:

Flashing the firmware (rom) now. Hoping this will help get kies working again as it should be working.
If it doesn't you should manually change your CSC
I gave up upgrading through kies or phone. Rooted my phone and loaded an official rom (4.0.3) on it. Works like a charm
My problem now is restoring apps and data from my Titanum backup.. I have forgotten the Titanum armored passphrase
Hello,
I upgraded my galaxy S2 to the SFR (France) ICS firmware I9100SFRLP7 by using CheckFusDownloader. It works but unfortunately my mobile is still not recognized by Kies. The message "your device does not support software upgrading via kies" is displayed on the screen.
Phone Info:
PDA: I9100BULPC
PHONE: I9100BULP6
CSC: I9100SFRLP7
Any idea ? If the CSC is not correct, what is the correct one and how to change it ?
Thanks for your help.

[Q] Confused about Firmware, CSC, OTA and KIES

I'm confused about the right combination of Firmware and CSC to get official updates from Samsung through KIES or OTA. I read that your CSC and Firmware have to match to get KIES support but not for OTA support. It has been sent to Samsung Belgium for hardware failure and came back with a different firmware, same phone. I took screenshots of the info I think is relevant, the screenshot from KIES is when I choose initialise and give my serial number.
Can anyone tell me what the right codes/combination is for me:
Unlocked, unrooted GT-I9300, living in Belgium, bought from a store which origin is in Netherlands. So I might have a phone from the Netherlands.
I ask this because KIES tells me my phone is not supported for firmware update. And with 4.1 in the running I want in but the official way, so if i stop following these updates, KIES or OTA will warn me in the future.

KIES tells me my phone is not supported for firmware update : for sure because you have a Netherlands device. The latest firmware for this phone is : Netherlands / 2012 August / 4.0.4 / I9300XXBLH1 / I9300PHNBLH1. (As KIES says) It's Ice Cream Sandwich firmware.
But when we saw your screenshot, I think you have a United-Kingdom (BTU) firmware (OpenEurope) , probably the latest ICS UK ROM.
So it's normal that KIES cannot update because for it, you have Netherlands device with UK firmware.
Can you put here the output of this command (on phone dialer) : *#1234#
added *#1234# screenshot
Can I flash Netherlands / 2012 August / 4.0.4 / I9300XXBLH1 / I9300PHNBLH1 with odin without losing user data? I've read that there are rom-versions for odin that do not wipe your phone. Otherwise I just wait for the official netherlands jellybean firmware and do a full wipe/install of that rom when it's my turn.

I confim that you have OpenEurope (OXA) firmware. Normaly, you can flash Netherlands firmware without losing user data (non wipe firmware), but if you have a boot loop, wipe data and cache will be necessary. So keep your data in a safe place before flashing your phone.
Doesn't screenshot 3 tells me i'm on PRO (which is belgian csc).
So if I summerize is correct:
I have a UK firmware on Belgian PRO but I need Netherland firmware on Netherland PHN?
Can I make it fully Belgian PRO WITH kies support?
By flashing Belgium / Luxemburg - 2012 June - 4.0.4 - I9300XXALF5 - I9300PROALF1. Or is my serial number forever bound to PHN?

Yes, you have : United-Kingdom Firmware / Belgium CSC and Netherlands Devices.
For sure, you have strong galaxy S3.
If it provides from Netherlands, the model must be one thing like that : GT-I9300RWDPHN and it never changes when flashing ROM.
For changing it : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.johnan.spooffw (I don't know how it works, so be carefull)
For KIES, your phone must have PHN firmware. But you can use another one (without automatic KIES update). I don't recommend using Belgium/Luxemburg firmware because it was very old (compare to United-Kingdom firmwares).
If you want JellyBean, you can try the latest UK firmware XXDLJ4. If it doesn't work well on your phone, you go back on PRO firmware.
I think I going to wait until PHN jelly bean comes out. They say it is best to wipe going from ics to jb. Then I just wipe and flash the right one. Thanks dude.

[Q] New Zealand CSC Question

Hey guys,
I have a New Zealand Samsung S3 GT-I9300.
It's got no branding on the phone, no logos, no logos on startup etc and I didn't buy it from a Telecom, 2 Degrees, or Vodafone store so I assume its unlocked. I bought if from an electronic store called **** Smith.
It's on the Telecom network - just chucked in my Telecom SIM.
OS - 4.0.4
AP - 19300XXALF2
CP - 19300XXLF2
CSC - 19300NZCALF1
At the moment when I plug the phone into Kies, it gives me the message "Your device's current firmware version is not supported to firmware via Kies".
After doing some research and troubleshooting steps like making sure Kies is up to date, reinstalling drivers etc I saw that some people said that if your CSC is wrong Kies won't upgrade your phone.
I realised that Jellybean hasn't been released for NZ yet but I figure that Kies should be saying something along the line of 'You have the latest firmware..' instead of saying its not supported.
So I was just wondering if my CSC looks fine for an unlocked NZ S3.
Let me know if you need any more information.
Cheers
My S3 is unlocked from Parallel on Vodafone NZ had the same CSC with no problems. I wouldn't worry about it much you can always flash via Odin.
If you are worried about it, flash the stock rom via Odin and use the BTU CSC that's what I've done, I have had no issues with it at all, and it's updated itself all the way up to 4.1.1 OTA with no problem.
Also, have you rooted the phone? If so it can report that you are unable to update via Kies

Thanks for your reply and advice
My phone isn't rooted.
BTU is UK right?
Couldn't I just change the CSC instead of flashing another ROM?
This will void warranty right? Don't really mind but just wondering out of curiosity.
Cheers
Mine isn't rooted either. You don't need to be in order to install the rom through Odin.
BTU is in fact UK
You can try to change the CSC first and see if that works, keep in mind it's going to wipe your phone when you do so.
It should not void the warranty, as you will still be using a default stock official rom, most people load the stock official when sending it in for repair work
By the way, the stock rom I used was the one listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610 from May 13th :
I9300XXALE8 Download (Thanks To SamMobile!)
Base Firmware: I9300XXALE8 (4.0.4)
Region Europe
Country: United Kingdom
Carrier: Unbranded
Build Date: 13 May 2012
Modem: XXLE8
CSC: OXAALE8
Change List: 554452
I then accepted OTA updates on the phone directly to get it up to the current rom

Thanks for that!
I'll give that a go.
Thanks
Just by coincidence my phone updated to Jellybean 4.1.1 via OTA a few days ago without me having to flash another stock ROM on it.
Also, Kies now reports that I have the latest firmware.
Looks like all I had to do was be a bit more patient.
Everything seems to be in order now.
Cheers for your help anyway guys.

[Q] Product Code and firmware mismatch.

I've been reading many threads with a problem similar to mine, but I think my problem is more complicated.
My phone was unlocked and debranded when I first bought it. The product code used to be (TTT)-trinidad and tobago. Someone from the technical service messed with the firmwares and changed it to this:
AP: I9300XXELLA
CP: I9300BOLK3
CSC: I9300CROLL1
This firwmare appears to be a branded croatian T-mobile. To debrand it, I used the option "Upgrade and initialisation" on Kies. After that the firmware changed to an earlier version but the product code was still CRO even though I changed the firmware. KIES didnt support this firmware, so I installed the previous firmware the one that I put on the beginning of this post (this time using ODIN).
The problem here is, that when I connect to KIES now, I get the same message: Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update via Kies only this time the firmware that appears on Kies is as follows:
Current firmware: PDA:LLA / PHONE:LK3 / CSC:LL1 (TTT)
>>>so to sum it up, it shows TTT when I install croatian firmware, and CRO when I install Trinidad and Tobago firmware
Can someone please tell me what is going on here? Which firmware do I actually have, and how can I match all these stuff , so I can upgrade firmwares in the future via Kies or OTA. My current firmware is AP: UBEMA1, CP:UBELL1, CSC: UUBELL1, while checkfus shows the product code as GT-I9300MBLCRO. Should I keep this firmware or better yet install a european one. I live in Macedonia (Europe)
I'm sorry about this long post but I'm really confused. Thank you for your time
Please delete this thread. Thank you
