No. Anything aosp/cyan needs a different kernel. If you are using safestrap cause your on the latest me7 update you can't flash a different kernel unless something has came out since I last been on xda (yesterday).

Im a noob, how does hwcomposer not working affects the system, it is slow? gliches in 3d apps or something like that?
Oh, and btw, can i use the apps (camera, dropbox, etc) without an sd card? I'm having that trouble with other roms (those apps says i have no sd card and force close, but i got 5+GB of free internal space).
Thx in advance, waiting your answer in order to flash! :good:

Yes that's what hwcomposer is. Some apps will not work without an sdcard because that is where they store their info.

Still, need sd card to use some apps, i dont get it, maybe safetrap related or even Jelly bean, but i can't access my music on internal storage, neither connect to pc as massive storage.
PD: Lack of HW composer is noticiable. some gliches in menus, didnt open an app, as i wont use this rom (since cant use internal storage :/)

Same with whatsapp, both original and +, complains about tablet.
And as for me downloading apps updates from play via WiFi is slow. Speedtest shows 10mbps on wifi. Apps downloading way faster via HSDPA.
Overall i love that rom, switched from CM10 builds. Any chance that we see fixed hwComposer soon?

Glad to see this coming , but @nims11 doesn't this to early to include download links? I just read Entropy post in this thread. Do you already have a workaround for this issue?
Entropy512 said:
Yup. There are two MAJOR blockers right now:
1) We haven't merged and tested the implementation of BOARD_SUPPRESS_EMMC_WIPE yet. So if someone were to build for a Superbrick-vulnerable device, they would have a a build that risks triggering Superbrick. While I normally don't like having moderators take down builds for something, if I see builds for Superbrick-vulnerable devices show up, I'm going to work with the mods to have them taken down until EMMC wipe suppression can be verified.
2) The build system needs some changes to permit TWRP to be built on userdebug builds. Right now, the only way you'll have a chance of working recovery is with an eng build.

Yes, Nims11 does. For the brickbug, we use cm10 kernel which does not have it AFAIK. And for the recovery, the ROM uses CWM, and not TWRP.
EDIT: I think omni has now fixed the notification light with this commit: OmniGears: notification lights - support for devices without multi-color led
If it fixes the lights, I think there are no other bugs left except the cyanogenmod ones

Hope you continue your work, untill it gets stable
Just tested 2210 Build (build 2)

Most of the bugs in CM10.2 are not here
This far more stable compared to cyanogenmod for me
I will stick with this ROM
Hope you keep updating it

This ROM is now built using the latest linaro 4.7.4 toolchain and comes with my modified version of Bricked kernel (thanks showp1984) My kernel source can be found here.
The ROM is compatible with other aosp based kernels, but if they dont have mpdecision or thermald built in you should rename them by removing the -bck at the end of the file name. The 2 files are located in system/bin.
I have also added QuickBoot, this enables you to power the device on/off in 1-2 seconds and puts it into hibernation.
This can be disabled in developer settings.
The following are configurable in the init.d file 99kernel
DoubleTap2Wake
Sweepp2Wake
Sweep2Sleep
Magnetic on/off
Battery voltage mod
These are disabled by default. More options will be added soon.
To edit this file use any good root file explorer. It is system/etc/init.d/99kernel and is pretty self explanatory once you open it.
Make sure permissions are set to rwx r-x r-x after editing.

I've made a few changes to the device trees and to allow them to build I have posted my source complete with a local manifest for thos who would like to build ROM for themselves.
You can view my work by clicking here.
If you would like to build this ROM just run the following comand to import my local manifest (after you have set up the build environment and performed a repo init ofcoarse).
You can fin a guide for your device Here
Code:
wget -O ~/android/system/.repo/local_manifests/bruce2728_manifest.xml https://raw.github.com/bruce2728/local_manifest/kitkat-mr0/bruce2728_manifest.xml
Once you have done that simply run a 'repo sync' to pull in my repos.

Procedure
If you are coming from a different ROM, data/factory reset is mandatory. If you are flashing over a previous SlimKat build, cache wipe will be sufficient.
You will need to flash the latest recovery ( CWM or TWRP ) mentioned above for a successful flash.
A nandroid backup is recommended prior to flashing SlimKat in case you get into problems.
Flash the recovery using Odin
Flash ROM from recovery. Reboot.
Reboot to recovery and flash GApps.
A little more detailed guide is available here.
What's working and what's not
Pretty much everything!!! For exfat support, flash the zip attached to this post. Note that exfat support has been added to the rom from RC2.

lcd density is set at 182 by default. If font is too small, change it in the build.prop inside the rom zip file before flashing. The entry to change is given below.
Code:
ro.sf.lcd.density
Notepad++ is preferred to make the change.
Respect. You make me always running follow your work dude. Must try.

Got it finally, but it's not straightforward
Maybe a note in the OP would save some time!

Rom can't handle heavy loads. Tried installing an apk and an app fro play store and it caused a reboot.
Also, Xposed framework isn't working.
Also pinch zoom isn't working.

I have installed 41 apps with no reboots. Not sure about exposed framework becoz I don't use it.
You will have issues. That's why its a beta release.

Anyone having probs with GPS?
EDIT: possible bug: GPS receiver not working. I have 3 apps telling that GPS is disabled while this is enabled. (so no signal going from antenna to app)

This is CandyKat. Built straight from SlimRoms source with commits from a variety of different sources/ROMS. We wanted to give the users a fun, fully customizable ROM. We have also come up with the Candy Sweetener Pack. This is an Aroma installer that is full of delicious treats. Inspired by the CandyShop thread on XDA it has everything from glow dots to halo mods.

This IS now working for android 4.4.2 & earlier rom versions.

I do have a bad sweet tooth. Hmmmmm
Is your twrp going to be isolated to work with this 4.4 alone?

I posted cwm in my other thread. It was compiled with the rom and should work fine with this one as well. I will however check to see if it had been updated, and if so, will post it in this thread.

I only asked because there has not been a TWRP for the i717 that works with 4.4, and you have the option posted in your installation. I made a minor goof too mistaking the Aroma installer. I have always put the two hand in hand. Not many use Aroma, so I guess I never thought it compatable with CWM. Now that I think back though, I beleive I use the two for the first time with my Infuse.
My Note is semi retired but its good to see new blood here and MAN have I had an itch to flash something.
Thanks for feeding the wolf.
Anyone up and running?

Oh I understand, we all made a layout to share and I actually never thought about twrp being in it for this phone. I do appreciate you bringing that to my attention. I just haven't had the time to look into updating twrp for this device.

Thank you very much for this nice rom. Running very smooth but battery is being drained at 8% per hour? Maybe it'll settle down?
There's a patch that fixes video recording and play back in another thread here is link for it for those interested I tested it and it works http://d-h.st/qnq
