Please anybody? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have scoured the net and the forums I have a Samsung SGH-i847 "aka Rugby smart"
To be completely honest i couldn't afford to pay the price for service with att anymore. Had the phone for over a year and there about to turn off my service.
So i signed up for tmobile prepaid no contract.
How can I unlock this phone to change carriers?
I called att and they said since my accounts not in good standing they wont provide me the unlock code.
Please anybody?
any direction on how to unlock?

sorry, hspl has nothing to do with sim unlocking. it allows you to install custom roms, which are independent of sim lock. sorry if you were misled.
the only options really are - 1- call tmo and see what they can do or 2- google around and pay for service; i remember some threads about the latter option here.
I think T-Mobile's general policy is that they will give you the unlock code if they have record of you having the phone with their service for more than 90 days. But if I was you, I'd try calling them before paying for an unlock code. It won't cost you anything to call, even if they say no they can't help you. And I have heard of people buying unlock codes and then they don't work. So if you do end up having to buy a code, I would say be pretty careful who you are buying it from, read reviews, try and find out their reputation, etc.
Personally I called T-Mobile and they sent me the code in a text about an hour after speaking to a CSR on the phone, and they didn't even ask why I needed it. But I had the phone for more than 90 days too.
i did call tmobile. only problem j have never had an account with them. they asked if i knew anybody who had a tmobile account where they could link the phone too and there for give me the unlock code. only problem to that method is that i live in a AT&T dominated area (we have 3G LOL) and i dont know anybody who could have tmobile. only sprint and att /:

Unlocking a Virgin Mobile Canada Phone...?

Hi there,
I emailed Virgin Mobile the other day and asked if they can unlock my phone for me, and they said they currently don't let their members unlock their phones yet. I'm just wondering if there's any service that unlocks a Virgin Mobile phone, but not for GSM network, I'm WCDMA. Thanks for the help.
There are a number of websites that provide unlock codes for typically between $5 and $30. I heard good things about this one, but haven't used it myself:

Just a quick note: if you plan on switching to Bell, you may not need to unlock your phone. This is according to a few posters on Howard Forums.
Cheers.
Thanks so much for the help!
Same here. My Legend was from Virgin mobile, now on Bell. I didnt need to do anything but switch sim cards.
Yeah, Bell and Virgin are the same network. Bell owns Virgin. But I didn't know that I didn't have to switch SIM cards. Thanks for the help again.
Would a bell phone work on virgin though? Seems weird you don't have to unlock phones. I used unlock roger phones to use on Fido, and Rogers own Fido. Same as bell owning virgin. Maybe they just didn't bother, and people don't really check.
Well my friend and I tried with our phones, he used my Virgin Mobile SIM card in his Bell phone and it worked. But I can't really be %100 it'll work, it was on a Blackberry. If you have a friend on Bell try it out, or you can even email Bell. But the reason you don't have to switch SIM cards between Bell and Virgin is because they're the same company so either way whether with Virgin or Bell, the money is still going to the same people.
unlock virgin mobile iphone 4
I want to unlock the iphone that I bought for 220 and although he said it was with bell it is really with virgin. I called customer support and they said that if I was on pay as you go for 30 days they would unlock it for $75. I suppose this is the best way...

Whoa, whoa, whoa, $75? Go on Kijiji to find some software unlocks for much cheaper, or code unlocks for slightly cheaper. No Canadian should feed Robelus more money, and at that price it's just makes me cringe!

sim unlock?

So bought the att verison full price... No account so I called att for the unlock code. Waiting period is up to a month to get the code. Is there another way? Well since the whole online unlocking service is out of the question. Thank you officials on Pennsylvania ave

I would have a look into that... Every time I've bought an off contract device from a carrier I've walked out the door with it unlocked. The deal is that they'll unlock it once your contract is complete and paid off. Since you don't have one, they're obligated to do it. If they're being dicks about it, call or email the executive customer service (google it). If you get desperate in the meantime you can probably do it through the bootloader tool, but don't quote me on that.
Apparently since the whole 'AT&T exclusive' comes into play the unlock code is not available even to the reps at the exe office.
Even owning the phone 100% AT&T still finds a way to **** you over.
AT&T wouldn't give it to me, but online websites did.
Time to have Fun!!

I need help with network unlocking my HTC Desire 626s (T-Mobile) PLEASE HELP!

I know this is a little off topic, but I just bought this phone on T-Mobile prepaid last night, in hopes to pop in my Consumer Cellular SIM and use it. Well, that was shot down because it said the phone is network locked and it needs to have an unlock code to work on other GSM networks. I called and chatted with T-Mobile and they are refusing to give me the network unlock code until I start a prepaid plan with them, spend at least $100 on refill cards, and then they can "request" an unlock code from the appropriate department.
Does anyone know how to network unlock the device without doing it through T-Mobile? I don't know if I trust those cell unlocker websites for network codes that you have to pay money for.
Any other phone I've purchased, like an AT&T prepaid phone, they never require an unlock code. I also called Consumer Cellular and they don't have network unlock codes.
Gotta pay to play, unfortunately. Just use eBay, where you can see reviews and have some buyer protection. I help unlock phones at my job, and I know that blowfish and swiftunlocks.com have been reliable. HTC unlocks are usually done pretty quickly.

Need Recommendation for Professional SIM Unlocking Service

I purchased a Galaxy S21 (SM-G991U) which was sold by and is SIM-locked to T-Mobile. The IMEI is clean, and the phone is paid off.
I need a professional service to assist in unlocking the phone (and, yes, I can tether the phone to an Internet-connected Windows PC with a USB-C cable).
I have located a number of services via a Google search, and find that most are quite expensive. I am hoping that someone has an economical, trusted favorite.
Recommendations please.
Maybe I am missing something but T-mobile will unlock a phone on request if you've been a customer for 90 days. Are you not a customer? If not, is the seller still a T-mobile customer?

Neither I nor the seller is a current T-Mo customer. The seller was eligible to have the phone unlocked before he got off of the T-Mo network, and failed to exercise that right. He tried to get them to unlock it after he left, but they won't do that.
Asking T-Mo to unlock the phone is not an option. It has already been explored.
