Hello all,
i was wondering if there is a mod for controlling the camera focus manually using some keys, eg: volume up/down,
because the AF always gets wrong for my macro shots..
hope my question is clear..
Please suggest any option available..
alas, NOBODY, even UNDERSTANDS what i am TALKING about... :silly:

I understand exactly what you are talking about! I'm currently looking for the same kind of app. I can see that my phone can focus a lot closer than it realises. "Marco Mode" Sometimes helps but still... not ideal. If I find a solution, I'll repost here.

Hi all, I've recently become tha proud father of a wonderful little lady D) and that's a crucial info to understand the fllowing question:
is that only me experiencing camera shutter lag?
I mean, I cannot ask my son to freeze when taking picture of her and now I see that there's about 1 or maybe 1.5 second lag when hitting the shutter button before the picture is taken. This leads to many blurry pictures! Annoying indeed!!!
Having bought the phone a month before my son was born, I didn't notice this problem at the beginning.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I could find any post dealing with it!
Thanks in advance
That's not lag, that's due to focus taking time to adjust. You have to hold the camera button first to lock the focus, the view pointer will turn green, then you need to press it again to take photo.
And turn on Anti-Shake option under Settings.
BTW- Congratulations for becoming dad. Post a photo of your little angel if you can.
Regards.

Hi, thanks for your reply and even more for your congratulations!
MAybe I was not that clear, my fault, of course first of all I tap to focus and only when the box turns green I press the shutter button. Anyway, there's 1 second (sometimes a little more) before the picture is taken!
That is the lag I'm talking about.
Just to be crystal clear: I own an iPhone 4 and there's absolutely no lag when I press the shutter button, even if I don't get the focus first!
Now I get your point, but I think its normal. I think it also depends on the ISO settings, higher the ISO is faster the photo taking time and vice versa. Maybe when you have lag, you are shooting at night or low light conditions. Try to set the ISO at a higher level and see if the problem persists.
Regards.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
Anyway, it would be better to have such a setting automatically, without having to set everytime the camera manually!
Don't you think so?

it is an automatic setting, but it is set up to take the best quality picture, not the quickest. i would suggest changing it to sports mode on the scene settings.
Ok, so this is an issue I can't seem to find anyone else complaining about.
My physical camera button won't activate the camera flash.
Now I understand that If the camera is set to Continuous Shooting mode that it probably shouldn't flash - but I've turned that off and I cannot get it to flash unless I use the on screen button, which is difficult for me.
Anyone else having the issue?
My camera rarely flashes when using the camera button, the time it did, it was in Portrait setting instead of 'auto'. I don't want to hijack your thread, but this is a good place to ask... Why can you hold down the camera button to take a stream of photos in modes other than Auto (I understand not allowing it in HDR), but the other modes don't seem to make sense...

I was thinking about that last night when I was trying to get my flash to work and playing with settings. It seems like you should be able to take a burst of landscape photos.....or anything else except HDR, and possible some of the lower light combinations.
My physical shutter button activates my flash just fine. For continuous, it flashes on the first shot, but that's it. It will take continuous with the physical button also

I am wondering is there is any way that we could control the focus of the camera manually "not like touch to focus" like when we do zooming instead of it will change the focus so it give us stable focus on that point!!
I hope my idea is clear!!
it looks like there is no hope!!

I think he meant that instead of zooming while pressing the volume up and down buttons, that the camera should refocus, like it does when you tap the screen.

You can use the camera button to focus
I take pictures on manual mode all the time and that means pictures in low light with less noise
About the focusing, just press the camera button a little bit and then your phone will focus, if you don't like the focus just let the button go and try again while holding the phone slightly different with light source etc, then you can really make nice pictures

You can't.
may be , we can control it by using custom driver for camera.
as in SE k850 , it has manual focus by using custom camdrive.
or, anyone can make app that make manual focus possible ?
I've used some phone from Japan, mainly from Sharp, and all of them have manual focus. It's extremely convenient, especialy when you need to capture something in close distance, like die-casts. They run on customized Symbian, so IMO, Symbian has some driver/libs to support manual focus
I don't know if new Android phones sold locally in Japan can manual focus or not, since I haven't had a chance to take a look of them. But I think Android platform can support that, because the stock Gingerbread ROM on Optimus 2X has manual focus.
manual focus
has any other phone having this option?

Motorola launch new app for manual focus. Find on google but unfortunately it does work on my phone. I don't know why.
Hi,
Yes I already found many topics about sounds of the galaxy S3 camera. I found the topic with the hack for sound http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722136
However still having problems with sound. When I'm in camera mode to take a picture, it's fine. But in video mode, when I press the screen for the focus, I still have a big beep which isn't very nice for my ears.
So if anyone would give me a way to definitely disable this...
Thanks a lot!
Sorry for my poor English..
Has anyone tried manual focus on this camera. I saw mentioned on a site. that if u half press the shutter in expert mode. (program or manual) and turn the zoom ring a manual focus option appears.
has anyone tried it ? had success ?
yes it worked...
