This is to Remove adds in many apps like angry birds and even blapk market. Tested working. Didn't see adaway in android market so here it is..
Ad away can be found in F-droid. Just an FYI
How does it block your ads? I use the same and still saw ads in apps. So had to use lucky patcher on those to clear them out

There are a few apps that it does not remove ads from and I am not to sure why. The official apk can be found here.

I'm using bigtincan's AdFree
Official Download Mirror
Always used this on my previous devices and it worked well. Havn't seen any ads yet.
Can anybody confirm this as another ad block solution?

I don't suggest lucky patcher. There are several issues caused by lucky patcher. The main one being your device showing out a of storage space when trying to install apps.

Why did you have to jinx me!? I had no such problem until I read it here Removed Lucky Patcher
I was using AdAway with no luck blocking ads.
So I flashed the mother of all ad-blocking found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916098
Now that, worked great except some sites I do visit are blocked but all it takes is a simple edit to the hosts file to remove the block on said sites. :victory:

adaway has been my favorite since it came out. it's the only one i know of that allows custom black AND whitelists.

The problem is that adaway or Adfree dont seem to keep their info on reboot so the ad re-appears... a pain
no on any of my 6 set ups. adaway always keeps its settings. it actually writes over the host file. maybe you're doing a symlink instead into a temp directory?

How do I add Google ads to safelist on AdAway? I mean I don't wanna block Google adds that show up when doing a Google search.
I use Adaway at my rooted Note 3.
The problem is that Facebook and Messenger doesn't work.
If I replace the new Hosts with the original and freeze adaway, the two apps work.
So, is it possible to use adaway but remove some hosts, an Facebook, Messenger still work?
Please, if somebody knows the hosts to removeā¦.
Help.

Very sure I am rooted ( Ti Backup works just fine and I can use su in terminal). I have even uninstalled adfree and reinstalled with no luck. Hell, I even tried replacing the hosts file manually with a list that's kicking around on the forums. Still nothing. Just for ****s and giggles, I am re-downloading it right now. Its been a few weeks, maybe it'll work
No dice. Symlink is unchecked. Cleaning the cache now and will try again.
edit: still no luck. To be honest, its only my weathereye app that I'd really like to see the ads disappear from. I'd like to tear apart the apk and find the source of the problem, but I have never attempted something like that !
Guys I badly need help with this!
For those that got this to work what did you use? (Which Root method, and anything special done inside the app? I do have Symlink unchecked)
Specifically any Bell Users, how did you guys get this working? HELP!...

I'm completely rooted, and have done this exactly like I have on my Milestone and SGS.
Is there a way to get this going manually, since this app doesn't appear to work on the (Bell) Atrix?... Thanks!
Didn't you already post this in another thread ??
It's weird, when I installed GreyBlur when I first got my phone, the adblocking built in to it worked and I never saw any ads anywhere (It does the same thing as adFree I believe, so it's comparable...) but then a little later I reverted to a backup for some reason, so no adblocking naturally. And when I installed GB3.5 (now I'm on 4.5) I haven't been able to block ads at all since, either with just GB or with AdFree.
Until yesterday ADFREE was blocking all ads. After the upgrade stopped. The ads are appearing as if nothing block then.
This occurs in both wifi and 3G (Tim - Brazil)
Any solution ?
Tks !!
Edit:
I managed to make it work:
- Uninstall, reboot and install again
- Clear data from applications that have ads
- Restart if necessary
work that way here.
This thread seems to work for some: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122086

I had the same problem at first. I used AdFree and it worked quite well. All in-app ads were blocked but ads still showed up on my browser. Even after updating the hosts.
I switched to AdAway last week and I havent seen a single ad so far. I recommend you use this over AdFree

Yes, that is true, but APKs that cannot be found on google play is usually uploaded on aptoide. Its morals, and anyone with morals would support the developer and purchase their app.. Not to say i have not downloaded any paid apps without paying for them, but i definitely have donated and purchased apps that have saved my ass such as speedview when my speedo was not working.

Adblock Plus is available from the Amazon Store, why not just download it from there?
https://adblockplus.org/en/android-install
So, this [Adblock Plus for Android] will block annoying adds inside apps?
Is it recommended to also use the Adblock verion specifically for Firefox if you have this version installed?
Any issues using this alongside Android Firewall (besides the obvious one of needing to add Adblock to the whitelist so that it can download it's block list)?
Two other apps I'd recommend to anybody reading this thread: greenify and wakelock detector.

Heya guys,
I had 4.1.1 till few weeks ago, after I updated to 4.1.2 Wanamlite ALL adblockers I try don't work... I used Adfree before and had 0 Ads in apps.
Now, no matter which one I try I have ads in there.
I had to install another version of adfree which removes only a few ads but not all, I tried adblock plus, adaways, and adfree....
My phone's rooted as usual, i let them acces internet via droidwall...
What is the problem ?
Is there a general change in 4.1.2 hich prevents some ads from being blocked ?
Thanks in advance.

Heya,
Droidwalls logs are empty, i set things up a year ago so doirdwall isn't it. plus adfree and all the others adblocker apps always have all permissions.
So should I simply try another version other than 4.1.2 or why the hell isn't it working ? *sigh*
If you don't know why its not working, how can you rule out any cause?
Logic says remove as many variables as possible. I asked what happens without droid wall. Did you try it? I ask because you didn't satisfactorily answer the question.
Please rule out droidwall first. Then we talk more.

Adblocker plus (not crapy Play's one) works fine here with AFWall+.
It can't block all adds, only those coming from external add networks, not those natively brought through the application's server (mostly games I guess).

I am using the same aps I used to use before 4.1.2, I was using the older version of adfree which was working perfectly. No inapp ads nothing.
Now i had to update the adfree to another version and the inapp ads are not blocked anymore. I mean those built in.... because those aps cannot acces the internet anyways.
The got blocked before I am just wondering why not anymore...

Thanks. If this is from /system/etc (or /etc) then it rules out the apps. Your hosts file has 25000+ entries (more than mine by about 4000)... so it would definitely appear to be a rom issue. The app is doing its job by writing to the hosts file.
I trust it has standard /system permissions?

Hey, yeah prolly... It has root permissions. I was using the older wanam rom, it was working pretty nice....
What I am asking myself is: some ads seem to be built into the ap itself, since i don't allow any of the games or apps i use to connect to the internet. So ofc some ads are always there right ?
But then I realize, hey I was using all those aps before and none of those ads were there before...
What u think, should I change the rom ? can u recommend a good one ? I was pretty happy with wanam tbh...
cheers.
Gram
If you can tell me a few games to test for you I can let you know....
Since the hosts file simply blocks web hosts connecting in from the internet, it can't touch ads that are embedded in the game that works when the internet is off. So yeah, anything that still works with no internet cannot be blocked.
When I use touchwiz, I prefer wanam

First game: Third blade
In this game if u start a level, u get a small banner ad at the center top of the screen. Now, the game is blocked and cannot access internet. yet It has this ad. Here comes the twist though, When I had my sgs+ back 2 years ago, and had adblocker i didnt have that banner ad, so whats deal with that nowadays ? Simply different version ? (upgrade with integrated ads) ?? The sgs+ had 2.3.3 or so...
Second game: Jewels saga
If i start the game now I get this stupid fullscreen ad which I have to press away. I used the same game in 4.1.1 with wanamlite and adaway and dindn't have this ad, so how come after the upgrade, under the same circumstances this ad now appears ? Please check if u get the fullscreen ad at the start..
I deleted a **** load of games so I only have these 2a atm...
Thanks alot.

In a way yes, but not completely. You are blocking sites and using a proxy bypasses the site address as everything is server from the proxy IP address.
Adaway webserver would remove the ads and then show the page complete, a bit like Opera Mini.
