Faqs and guides .
Problem is what >> apps are not working ??
The post from start to finish reads as you have flashed firmware for another model on the phone .Apps have nothing to do with original firmware .
Stock 4.3 ????>>>>> not a Samsung firmware .
bartely use any apps becouse im on a "custom firmaware
>>>>Apps work on custom firmware unless you are trying to run Samsung apps on non Samsung based custom roms .
Start at the beginning what model phone do you have as per the label under the battery .
If I9300 then remove ext sd card and flash a proper Samsung stock rom through Odin . You should then be able to flash Philz recovery .
Boot to recovery mounts and storage format sd card system data cache and preload .
Boot to download mode flash stock rom via Odin see faqs and guides for the return to stock for warranty post

jj you didnt read it correctly.
he first rooted and installed 4.3 and wanted to go back to stock.
he flashed stock but apps still arent working properly.

As you say but apps not working is probably non Samsung apps .
But need clear indication of the problem to solve it.

There are a number of apps that will not work on rooted phones banking apps usually .
See the how to use Barclays Bank app post for clues to getting these apps to work on rooted phones .http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823649&highlight=barclays

you just need to reset the Rom counter to 0 and make it official
try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2323847
it might help , if you didn't get any part of it just ask
PS: just to make sure get into download mode and see what does it says in the upper left corner ?

Hi All!!
(I am Sorry if there has been a thread like this before ,i am new to Android just need to ask some questions for my Galaxy S2 which i recently bought)
Phone Details
Samsung Galaxy S2(Hong Kong)
Android 2.3.5
Baseband I9100XXKI3
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100ZSKI3
Build GINGERBREAD.ZSKI3
Question 1
My phone is in Warranty i have been iOS user and like Jailbreak i want to enjoy Andriod by rooting my phone
But i want to backup the stock firmware completly before all this process so if i wanted to reverse process ,or get my phone back to its old state like it came(ZSKI3 SAME KERNEL AND EVERY THING REST)
please suggest me any backup tool like that
Question 2
i want to root my phone in stock firmware,i like touchwiz and every thing that came stock but having root access so i can get any thing i want so please suggest me the best firmware for S2
I will be really thankfull for you responce, and please if i made some mistakes above i am sorry again i am new here
1-root with cf-root for you firmware using Odin.
2-boot into recovery and do a cwm backup or use the cwm app that installs with cf root to do the same.
3-if you want to go back to stock flash the original kernal using Odin and use a download mode jig to reset counter to hide flashing.
4-if you use a custom rom restore backup then do the above step.
You can find plenty of how-to's on any if the above points on this forum or by Googling it.

Ok. To flash the original kernal you will need to get it from the intratech thread. He had them all I think. This will remove the custom kernal and, assuming you are still on stock firmware everything is stock again.
As for the jig, when you flash a non stock kernal, there is a counter which shows when you go into download mode. Samsung put this in to see if you had flashed anything if you return it for warranty. The jig plugs into the phones USB/charging port and clears it so Samsung knows ****. I bought one off eBay for $2 delivered.

[Q] Help! How to remove CWM from S2

Hi,
I just got my Android and happened to Root it with a firmware containing CWM because I really had no clue as to what it was. Now I would want to be able to remove this icon CWM from my phone. I have tried flashing the kernel to no avail. Please help me with a step by step procedure to remove it since I'm absolutely new to Androids. My S2 runs gingerbread 2.3.6. I did check the web but am so confused with all the options provided.
Thanks in advance.

It is strongly recommended to back up stock ROM before u give try to Custom ROM.
*#1234# - Check your Firmware version before u do Rooting and make a note some where
You can use those information to download your STOCK ROM from many website (google them)

Since you are rooted, use any file explorer with root access and delete the cwm manager.apk.
Second option is use root un-installer and uninstall the cwm manager

in some Firmwares CWM is included in system applications, so cant simply uninstall it, you can use Titanium backup application to uninstall system apps,
But before uninstalling better you learn more about Rooting and the functions of this app and other root apps. This is a very usefull app in the rooted and Clockwork mod installed devices, for rebooting into recovery easily, kernel flashing, backing up of the Rom ect..
you can have informations from below sticky thread as well as from my signature links.

I installed CWM to test some custom ROMs on my device. What if for some i reason i have to take my mobile to service center.
Will they charge me (even if my device is under warranty) because i have installed CWM?
Do I really need to remove CWM? If yes, how??
Do you have a 3rd stupid question to ask?

Yes you will need to remove root so flash Sam firmware with mobile Odin and don't root. Now back to stock.
Or send it in and report bk

Thanks for replying andrewwright!! (you too "theunderling"!!:angel
I haven't actually installed CWM yet and came here to clear my this doubt.
Why Sam Firmware (if Sam = Samsung) while my device is XOLO q800? Can I take a backup of my my stock firmware in some way because XOLO is not a popular brand and I won't get much support(stock firmware) over internet.
Also, I read somewhere that particular firmware corrosponds to a particular chipset(mine is MT6589), is it true??
I would really appreciate if you can provide a link for reference where I can read further or otherwise some people will keep yelling here "noob......noob"

You rooted yes and now you find OTA updates fail yes .
As per ten thousand posts OTA may fail on rooted phones .
Choice remove root and update .
Flash stock rom via Odin and reroot .
Flash stock rom from CWM stock roms post should not need reroot .
All on GENERAL section .

Returning back to stock kernel first is not always needed. With the previous update, i installed the update through Kies on my rooted S3 and just re-rooted afterwards. No reinstall was needed and all apps and settings were untouched. Try updating via Kies.

imei ?

Hi,
I was on omega v11 and then i flashed on top without a wipe v14 Jelly bean and now i am not getting any signal.
I reported it on the forum and i was told that my imei number has been changed and it has , and i don't have a backup of the efs folder either.
So i was wondering has anyone faced the same sue and was able to resolve it to restore my imei? I got told to send it back to Samsung for repair, i am considering it but it could take up to weeks with them.
I have also had a look at this but i think it is for international version of the s3 ?
http://www.gfcforum.com/samsung-tip...laxy-s3-backup-restore-imei-without-root.html
Thanks in advance
Don't you think that as you have flashed it, at least twice, it might make Samsung laugh at you if you send it for repair, warranty or not? Here in the UK it's illegal to try and change your IMEI...
Z.
Have you tried flashing back to ics? I know this happened on the S1 and for some flashing original firmware fixed it.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
If you have no backup of your imei then basically you are screwed and need to pay Samsung for recovery since loosing an important folder when flashing something that voids your warranty is not covered under it.
You could try using Triangle Away and then going back to stock to send it in to Samsung, claiming that Kies or a phone reboot did this. It seems to happen sometimes so Samsung can not prove you wrong unless you screw up

He's talking about the Omega V14 rom (based on the JB leak from 14/08/2012). It uses the Aroma installer and features an EFS backup button during installation. Too bad he didn't use it
I dint know anything about the efs until after it happened to me
i tried to to go back to original software official, and i used triangle away and i got binary Samsung official and software status custom and then I went into odin and flashed the stock Samsung rom and everything went well until after the reboot, then my phone stayed on the Samsung boot logo and now it's stock and then i went into download mode to look at me status and it was still the same binary Samsung offical and software status custom

If I was you,Id root the phone, then backup efs, then make a nand backup....so you can get right back to where you are if you dont like it/or if theres a problem.
Or you can get one of them backup apps for saving the basic stuff you mentioned, since its "advisable" to factory reset/wipe your phone.
And I thought theres a Nordic JB released anyhow,is that no use to you?.You can check on Sammobile to see whats available.
Also have a quick look through the forum with regard to the problems people have when flashing JB etc,or roms from other countries without doing much research.
Thank you guys for the answer , so root is my answer .

No,not necessarily.Read my answer again as it says to "get one of them app backup apps".Ive told you what Id do,and told you what can happen to you when you try it(read all the problems in the q+a thread about no imei etc).
Maybe you can just backup up your apps/contacts etc, factory reset/wipe data then flash JB......and everything will be ok.Its up to you........
Hum...why do you wanba flash another ROM?
JB stock ROMs are all about the same.
