I cant find a way to change video recording resolution to 720p or 480p in 532 version stock sony camera app...is it possible to change video recording resolution in stock camera app or I must use third party camera apps?
I want to record 720p video @60fps

There seems to be no alternative video camera app on Android.
+1. I have no idea why there wouldn't be any. Strange.

Try Lgcamera, can be found from the market. Lots of settings to tinker with especially on the pro-version. Supports hd too.

Just tested lg camera pro. Installs get no errors but will not take photos. Camera works set to full hd record but playback was a shocker blurry and small not full screen, so not working as well

Just tested again. Seems to be working. I have set it to full hd but looking at the details of the video file doesn't tell me if it's full hd. Have to transfer to pc and check full details

Hi!
I have problem with YouTube HD app. I can't watch any video because it buffering video. I watch 10 s and it's buffering, and again and again. I have stock fw .54, without mods or tweaks. Please help! I don't have this problem on my Arc S with same YT HD app. And internet on my phone is little slower than before.

Nope rajul It wont work
In mx player
It won't allow hardware acceleration
And sw decoding will make the video lag Behind audio
If xperia p can record 1080p video than why can't play it?

In order to play 1080p it's necessary to use hardware acceleration and that depends on the encoding used on the video. Just checked on the 1080p recorded from my phone with MediaInfo:
AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Format profile : [email protected]
The encoding is based on h264/mp4 avc with baseline profile. Videos encoded with different codec or profile may not support hw acceleration.
today i tried record a 1080p by my XP, and it lag too ="=
wtf happen with my phone, i guess i should repair it, hope it work
btw, mx player not works

I know this post isn't appropriate, but Google doesn't seem to be responding for months. Back to the point whenever I change the orientation while a video is playing I get a huge black bar taking up space, does this bug happen to anyone else? Can I fix this problem?

hi ...
you can try this youtube mods
[Mod]OG YouTube 4.5.17 Downloader, All Qualities & Screen Off Playback (v7 beta)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213945
or
[MOD] YouTube 4.4.11 (v5b), *1080p* / 720p HD (over WiFi & 3G), screen off playback
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529715
warning!!! always do a backup before install or update ...
best regards,
Thanks for the apk its really good, but it seems like the problem isn't involved with the YouTube app but Samsung's dumb premium suite update which completely ruined my phone.

Same problem on my rooted Xperia U
Maybe it doesn't records well because of the less resources MC4 is a very heavy game for our sola and to record parallel sounds to much for the XSola
I also had Screencast for some time and there worked everything well but I didn't tried to record MC4
