So lets start off by saying i have no idea what im doing and am really looking for someone to walk me though it. Ive had my nook tablet 1.4.0 for over a year and was it rooted but im selling and did a factory restore. The guy wants the root back and cant do it. I dont want to brick it so can someone please help. Ive searched youtube and seams that a lot of the programs dont work anymore. Txt or call me if your willing to help. And for the record, I'm not trying to be rude on purpose (I don't get paid for it). I'm just saying you should take just a few minutes of your time and research on what you're trying to do (rooting the Nook Tab). It doesn't take long at all :angel: :good:. I learned how to use Linux by practice and research (did I mention I hosed my whole system over twice a week when I initially started out?), and the experience you gain by yourself is very rewarding. I've been using Debian for almost 3 years now and I still learn lots of new stuff every week or so.
I'm new to this forum so I have not donated to it. I hope that not all the members are like you!! I came to this forum for help not to be insulted. I'm not looking for donations I just happen to fill that out. What's with your power trip dude? Im a member of a lot of forums and have never had anyone act like that.

Thanks for the link.
I am also new with Nook (supposed to receive next week) and I wanted to see if there was any beginner's guide, like a page where things are laid out without it being 100s of pages.
I was able to root and install custom rom on my wife's galaxy, I understand once you figure out it is not that complicated but in Galaxy section there are a lot of simple guides, there is also a beginner's guide.
For someone who wants to just simply get CM on their Nook, I wasn't able to find anything either, there are a lot of technical mambo jumbo.
I think sagirfahmid3 was pretty harsh on the guy, he could have posted the link you posted. :good:

Did you get it done? The best advice I can give is research read up use the search button use Google. Rooting is pretty easy but you can also brick your device . you know the people here are awesome they bust there asses to bring us noobs some bad as ****! The least we can do is take the time to read the forums.

To OP this is totally doable by your self and you need patience and as im sure you will find out the method is a bit under the table. If it reads fine you are good to go if it does not read the phone you need to fix the diag drivers instructions here. Now you are ready to start instructions here at xda but in the epic4g subforum in this thread all the instructions are the same but you can skip 11. The only purpose of 11 is to get the MSL/SPC which you already have. You are done at step 17 but if you need mms to work check the EVO4G forums pretty similar to the epic but there is an extra menu or 2 but 3D and 4G should be the same.

sorry to say but the infomation you gave him would not work on 3VO because it has some sort of protection that prevents it from reading memory locations with cdma workshop, qxdm and other programs that alot of people including myself are trying to figure out why

i am having trouble with the stock but rooted 2.3.3 i am on.
due to force close issues with the market i am getting curious as to which rom is the best mainly in ragards to stability but also being fairly up to date and with the best features.

If you have a question to a specific one, well... It's the same thing again. Search the respective thread and if you don't find anything useful, post it (But NOT as a whole new thread, please...)

There's just one thing striking me again... IF we had a periodically updated list of all maintained Custom ROMs, the development forum would be a LOT easier to overlook!
It's kinda hard for someone who starts reading the development forum NOW after months of posts!
Maybe if we could find a mod that is kind enough to make a sticky Custom ROM list... That would prevent newer users from starting threads like this one and our more experienced users from ripping their hair out because they feel horrible about those threads...

I tried to flash the streakmod recovery but was unsuccesful. I tried it through fastboot mode. But when reboot into recovery the 340 recovery appears on the screen.
How can I flash streakmod recovery???

We are not going to hold your hand and we are not going to spoonfeed you information. You have to know what the f**k you're doing or else you can cause yourself real difficulty. So take the time to read up and LEARN before you attempt to root, or else you will brick your phone and not know how to recover from it.

You really need to chill with the attitude, while you are correct in that users need to learn what they're supposed to know, the way you present is isnt acceptable. It's not that much better then when they ask to be spoonfed.
I've given it a lot of leeway but I will start reporting it in the future, as the OP was reasonably polite this shouldnt happen. If he was being immature or dumb I'd see no problem at all *****ing him out, but this isnt the case.

On stock roms: if you flash a different recovery and let it fully boot. The first thing it does is overwrite any recoveries.
You must IMMEDIATELY load streakmod after flashing it on a stock rom or it will be wiped.
This fact might not be mentioned clearly, I'll add a guide/point to note if I dont find a reasonable guide.
Edit: this point is clearly stated at the bottom of the streakmod post, make sure you read the whole thing clearly if something goes wrong. 50% of the time it's this exact issue, other 50% is user flashed it incorrectly to begin with

Long Story Short : My impatience got to me, and I foolishly flashed the root for the non-US GS3 onto my phone. Now I'm soft bricked.
I was curious if the stock bootloader and recovery are available for download anywhere so I can flash back to basic function. I enjoyed the phone for the 4 hours I had it, and I'll be happy just getting back to normal for the time being.

just got back from the sprint store with the same issue. They dont even have the stock files yet!! But they did order me a replacement device that should be here in 3 days. Ahhh more waiting, even though this one is totally my fault
I was able to get to recovery with the CWM recovery posted in the Dev forum, but no further. Hoping to see a rip via the Kernel dump soon.
From the look of it, if there's a stock firmware flash, I can flash it on via CWM, when that becomes available.
Disappointing to hear the Sprint support doesn't have the flashes yet. Looks like I'm out in the cold. :|

Just got back from Sprint store, they have nothing for the 3s yet. In fact they passed around my brick phone so everyone could see the device that they didn't have.
PS flashing the CWmod did not fix this prob either. any help on the horizon?

I know chainfire's version specifically says it's for the international version. If it wasn't that you know there is different hardware in the international version, so you were just being foolish. You're lucky Samsung makes this thing so easy cause all you really deserve bricks

in a nutshell, the whitehouse agrees that the DRM ruling was never intended to prevent owners from unlocking their phone. Though no official change has occurred, it's a step in the direction to reverse the initial ruling.

You're completely welcome for the update. I figured since the last thread on how it was illegal was such a big deal I figured I'd share a tidbit of information for those who don't normally read other tech news or other threads. You could have just left the thread to die like it was going to do instead of having such a huge stick planted so deeply that you felt so entitled to instead of saying nothing or a simple thanks you HAD to comment in such a jerkish manner.

This STORY (not an ad) only has 16 comments. WHY? Because people don't even bother checking the portal for news and updates around here. Yet someone can post a link to the same content on a different site and people will go 5 pages deep in a thread around here. It just shows the problem XDA members have with actually using the sources on the site to find the information they need/want.
You people wonder why you have so many problems installing ROMS and finding things on XDA. You don't READ or pay attention to ANYTHING around here and this thread proves it. Go ahead, check my post history all you want. See how many post you find by me trying to get help with something around here. You will find that it hasn't happened much if at all because I actually READ AND PAY ATTENTION. You will also see that I never post anything that has already been posted on the portal because I READ AND PAY ATTENTION.
