Hi everyone, I recently had problems with my SGS3 and had to factory reset. Before I did the factory reset I did a full backup in Kies, and it completed everything but then hung backing up text messages, the last thing on the list. I had to cancel the backup but I noticed the information it had backed up was still there, so went ahead with the factory reset.
Unfortunately, although the backup data is there (with the exception of text messsages, which I don't really care about), the actual .sbu backup file that Kies needs to restore a backup isn't there, as I'm guessing it's the index of the backup which would have been created if the text message backup hadn't hung. Is there any way to easily restore the backup without this file?
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give!

Hello,
I did a backup on samsung kies twise, after I had to reset factory settings
on my phone I tried to restore my backup. Everything came back exept my
contacts wich is the most important thing.
I tried to restore from both of the backups but it keeps failing and brings me back
only 75 of 300 contacts.
Please help this is very important to me
Somewhere along the line, I've wiped out all my SMS/MMS. Along that line, I...
Backed up the contents of the internet SD to my computer
Did a Titanium Backup backup
Did a ClockworkMod backup
Might any of these contain my messages and how can I restore them and them alone?
Thanks.
restore your ClockworkMod backup this will have your msgs in if you did a backup before you lost them.
When you have them back get sms backup and restore from the market then you can restore and back them up when you wish, ive been using it for ages and its always worked perfect.
Gah, the SMS aren't in the ClockworkMod backup.
I think they got wiped when I updated the OS via Kies. I had rooted after that, then done a ClockworkMod backup, but I think it was Kies to blame (its own backup did not work).
I factory reset my phone yesterday (International version) because of some delays in the menus and loading up of the dialpad.
However, as I tried to restore the backup on the phone, Kies keeps telling me that there's an unexpected error while restoring my videos.
My apps can't be restored as well and I had to download them all again, loosing all my data.
The rest of the backup was ok, but seriously? Why is there a backup if it doesn't work in the first place?
Hi all !
I need your help because I'm really desperate.
My phone was working fine but I had some error with Handcent application.
I decided to restore a previous nandroid backup (that I had previously successfully restored) but now I've got an "error while restoring data" after a long time working.
Tried to do 3 wipes (data factory, cache, Dalivk), but same issue.
Tried with some other backups, same issue.
I'm really lost....
Is there any way to get me out of this ? :crying:
My phone is now unusable.
When I run the phone after restoring faultly, it asked me my google account, as if it was the first time I was running the phone, and not all applications are installed.
When I try to install missing applications with Google Play, I've got an error, and no way to restore from Titanium Backup, no error but freezes.
Please HELP !
Flash your firmware using Odin or recovery, if the backup is corrupt then it can't be fixed.
Thanks, but this backup was OK last time I've restored it, and I had the same issue with some other recent backups.
It appears that the size was too big, over 2,5GB.
I've restored from a 2,41GB backup and it has worked.
The mistery is why I was able to restore from this backup one time, and now does not work anymore...

I was on a build of CM12, but it started bugging out on me and then when I tried restarting my phone it was stuck on a boot loop, so I created a nandroid, then resorted an old back up. Does anyone know where the text messages are stored? I have important messages that I need to restore and make sure I don't lose.
Are the directories for text messages on stock different than cm12?
I'm afraid I can't answer your question, but the only way I've been able to restore text messages is to have backed them up with Titanium first. Titanium does have the option to extract data and restore from a nandroid, but I've never tried to restore SMS that way.
