Hello, I recently rooted my android phone, but it is not the first time. Due to my last incident with my rooted samsung galaxy S2, I was tweaking certain roms and it ended up getting bricked. I found out about a program called ODIN that can unbrick my phone, but I failed at that and ended up installing a different firmware lol, yet it was still stuck at the start up boot loop animation [IDIOT MOVE] and this time the computer could not detect my phone anymore, trust me I tried hundreds of methods from different computers to different usb ports and different versions of odin and gave up.
However I have a new phone and plan with verizon and ended up rooting the phone again. I did not tweak any roms or uninstalled pre-installed default apps YET. But this time I want to be prepared again if I ever come across my phone being bricked. I am being cautious. How can I have a stable backup of my phone, so if it ever gets bricked I can use odin to unbrick it. Do I have to use titanium backup for this approach or something else.
In case someone asks, it is called Verizon LG Lucid, Model Number VS870 4G, it is 4GLite version 4.1.2. Software verson: VS87011A.
Install a custom recovery such as clock work mod it has the best backup and can bring your phone back from a soft brick
Hit thanks if I helped

Hello folks,
Generally loving my Vibrant, of course hungry for Froyo. I have two Vibrants, the first I've been using and have modded it with root and other enhancements. I gave the other phone to a friend as a gift, but when I wanted to root theirs using the same method I've used on multiple occasions, it would NOT boot into the recovery mode. I use the UP + DOWN push, plus the power button. No dice, just get the cheesy "come together" Tmobile screen, I tried up, down, waited for the Samsung to flash twice, no dice. It was not that complicated on my phone and I can continue to do so. I have looked up threads and there is suspicion that T Mobile disabled this on later vesrions? This version was shipped to me slightly after my own, within a week or so.
It would be disheartening if I couldn't root and make his phone more efficient to deal with the battery hog issues as well as other enhancments. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I've treid multiple combinations and never get into the utility/recovery screen.
Any thoughts on this? I tried rooting before that with the Ryan one click lag fix, and it seemed to indicate it was done,b ut then Iwhen I opened ROM manager, it said it was not rooted yet. Then when I tried the one click app fix again, it mentioned it couldn't because soemthing about the SD card mounting, etc. I could put the stock PIT file on it via ODIN could I not? But I dont' want to go to all that hassle if it's something else. Is there a another app solution that can root for you? I can mount and drag the update zip there, but can't get tot he screen to reinstall packages.
Hopefully TMobile isn't stripping this down so we can't customize and it's something else but I'm trying all combinations short of doing the hokey pokey.
Thanks in advance!
Kelly
Samsung Vibrant
Apparently either Samsung or Tmobile are having the option disabled via the normal ways to get into recovery. There are numerous other threads regarding this throughout the forums detailing other peoples experiences regarding this.
Take a look here for one:

Join the club. I'm on my third vibrant with this same issue. I am returning it this week for a refund. My first....and last samsung phone.
thank you guys, I was afraid of that. one of the phones greatest assets was it's hackability. Froyo had better do something with battery consumption, speed, etc, or this phone will be a great screen and not much more. boo to hardware lockdowns! let the hackers hack and if you want to void the warranty, do it. I'll see about this ADB mode, I'm wondering if someone can create an app that would successfully root so ROM manager will work. I wonder why the one click fix lag app, which supposedly roots, did not. It seems like an overall lock down on this access?
At any rate, I'll try the other options but it's looking like more and more, my buddy will be a slave to Samsung release timeframe, and thats assuming froyo and updates will fix significant bugs and improve battery life.
thanks again guys! I'll keep trying.
And what about the download mode, can you get in it?
not sure, you mean the little digging android feller? I will try that, I gave the phone to my friend but sent him the page in this thread earlier regarding multiple attempts to get into either / or mode. would that actaully help install the packages aka root the phone? I only used that last time to reinstall via Odin, the T Mobile factory build because it was soft bricked due to a bad lag fix that froze the phone on the Samsung logo.
download mode , can that get it rooted? Or just wanting to know if all hardware access has been blocked?"

Yeah, that the digging guy. It won't help you to get rooted, but i can't get in download mode, so if you can advise me how can i do that, i appreciate
Hello all,
I tried to search for an answer but i really dont know what to call what is happening to my phone. Randomly throughout the day the phone will just crash and when booting back up comes up with the picture of an android guy holding a box and it completly reinstalls android os back to default. I am 99% sureits a stock phone i got it from a friend. When its done im back at the default motoblur setup screen. I have tried switching sd cards, even with no apps installed it does this. Wondering if anyone has suggestions, i am thinking of rooting the phobe and flashing over with a custom rom to get rid of the motoblur crap. Would this help? Dont want to spend the time rooting and flashing if the phone is just a lost cause.
Thanks!

Sounds like corrupt software to me, but not sure. I would try factory reset or go to Motorolas website and download latest firmware and install if you choose not to unlock your bootloader. Also I think stock recovery should be an android Guy with a triangle.

Thanks,
How would i check to see if its already rooted? Download a terminal emulator and try su like on linux? Been reading around the atrix forums found lots of nice guides for rooting but they dont seem to mention much about the 4.5.141 2.3.6, hopefully that doesnt mean my phone is not able to be rooted.
Download an app that requires root. Not sure if that would work, but it makes sense kinda.

well its not rooted so I will be doing that as soon as I find the data cord :/ I tried using a regular one that I had lying around and windows xp wont recognize the device even after installing the drivers. Hard to say if its the cord or something with windows xp.
XP should pick it up.. I've never had any problems.. just unlock the bootloader and flash a rooted rom and you'll be good to go..

Hello fellow android users, i am stuck with a problem that i would like it have solve, and this never happen until recently. My t959 vibrant was orginally stock 2.1-update then i install a custom rom.AT&T never detect it for the several years not even when i was using the stock rom for almost 1 year, then a few months ago i decide to install a different rom with 4.0 os for my phone and after a few weeks i didnt like it and decide to go back to stock 2.1-update. Now when the phone is turn on from off it will load and show the i9000 logo, then a few days ago i got a text from at&t knowing i was using a smartphone and added a $30 data plan out of no where. I have tried reinstalling the stock os several times using odin and aio toolbar but it still show the logo, also when i try using kies to update it to 2.2 froyo it can not perform the update saying it is not the correct phone, what is the problem? i am assuming the current os i am using is letting att know i am using a smart phone, am i wrong? and is there any solution for this because from all the search i have done and i cant seem to find anything related to my problem. Or is at&t now able to detect smart phone no matter what provider it is?
Hi Everyone,
First of all I would like to apologize, if I am repeating any question. I tried many threads but I couldn't understand completely. Hence I am afraid I need to ask individually. Hope thats fine with the community.
So, I own a Samsung Galaxy SII since last 27 months. I bought it with Orange on a contract in France and the company unlocked it many months ago since I do not live in France anymore. I have never flashed the phone with any other ROM, or provided root access or anything else. I have always used Kies to update the software. If I remember correctly the phone currently has Jelly Bean on it (4.1.2 I think). It doesn't have any external SD card, just the internal memory.
Due to some unknown reason, since yesterday the phone is not able to boot up. Its stuck at "Samsung GALAXY S II GT-I9100" screen. I tried to used Volume up+Home+Power keys to go into recovery mode which is not possible. I also tried to go in Download mode using Volume down+Home+Power keys which is possible. Then I tried to connect with Kies to connect it but after 15-20 mins Kies gives error in recognizing the device. When I open ODIN 1.85 (I guess that is the version which should work with my phone), it does shows "Added" status for the device.
Now after reading many posts I have realized that restoring to stock rom would resolve the issue, but it still dint for many. What is appropriate way to deal with this problem. I found some stock rom on the page of mobile network comparison webpage , but I am not sure if I should use it or not. Also I am afraid if I should check the region/model etc for this. I guess I should only install ROM which lies in France-Orange category.
I do not care about any data since I back up my phone from time to time. But I do not wish to play around with the phone much, unless required. However I would appreciate if there is any way to restore the contacts and message stuff.
Thank you very much for your help and support. I highly appreciate the effort.
Ive got a brand new phone I wanted to get rid of the bloatware from my carrier. So I rooted it via kingroot, installed Titanium Backup and went to town. Then an OTA update came in and I accepted it, it seems that the phone battery died during the update installation.
Now I get a "no command" message with the android on its back. All the googling Ive done points me to do a hard factory reset via recovery, which I do but I still keep getting the same message.
Is there some software specifically for LGs that I could unbrick it with? I own several Nexus devices and a OnePlus and wugfresh toolkit has helped tons.
To add to the problem, I cant find much about it. Its a Mexican model called LG Zone or X180g. From the Googling ive done, Ive come to the conclusion that is called LG Ray in other markets.
I really appreciate your help

You can try to see if they have it. I don't think there is anywhere free to get the firmware. But yea, that was a big pair of screw ups between taking the OTA after rooting and having removed system apps as well as letting it die while trying to update. That's bad on any type of device. Since it is a MTK device, you'll have to use a version of the Flash Tool as it is different than most LGs, which use Snapdragon processors.
