I'm wondering the same thing. Submitted my req 2nd time in 7 years today. But I do hope there is a way to do this by myself like say the autoprime's great job on S4

It can be done through Sprint. The prices takes 2 days for them to get back to you. They call you back to verify your info then unlock the SIM.

Activating Rooted Thunderbolt

Hey guys, I have a rooted Thunderbolt that I'm selling but I was going to sell it with Gingeritis3D on it.
If I reflash the ROM, it will allow its new owner to setup their account on the phone and use it as their own, but I got stuck wondering that if they could even activate it while this ROM was installed.
While Gingeritis3D is the running ROM on this phone, can it be activated online or via customer service line?
If not, how could the phone be activated?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
It should be able to be activated. They will need to do it over the phone with customer service.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Thanks man, I knew I would probably receive my answer from you. Lol.
If it can't be activated after calling customer service, does that make it obviously rooted to them or does it throw up some sort of red flag?
Oh, and can they activate it on the SIM card that's in it or will they need to get a new one?
I have no use for the SIM.

You will need a new sim and they won't know its rooted if it won't activate. Just download a sense 2.1 ROM and use it to activate if you have any issues but I don't think you will.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Alright.
I can go up to Verizon and get another SIM for it that will work for whoever buys it, right? Or do they have to go get one themselves?
I just know they can't take it in there and let them put it in since it would be rooted.
...Or does it even matter to them since the phone has no warranty anyways?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
It wouldn't matter anyway and yea you could just take it in there and get a sim. Just make sure its a corporate store and not a retailer because they will charge you for a sim.

Yea. They'll note it more than likely that there is no warranty since its rooted and sold to another person. They know my phone is rooted and it hasn't caused me any problems and I use up gigabytes of data with wireless tether.

It can also be done online with no problem. That's how I activated mine with someone's test Rom on it. All you need to do online is enter the esn and the sim card number to register and activate the sim card.

Gotcha! Lol.
I'll go by Verizon and pick up a SIM card for the buyer I suppose, and I'll just tell the person at Verizon that I'll activate it myself online... just to be safe.
Or does the SIM have to have a specific number in relation to the new owners account or phone number?
Should I go get the SIM or should I let the new owner get it?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
Umm. Let them get it. They are only gonna give you one for your own account. This should not be an issue. It should be a given that you get your own sim when you buy a used phone. If they expect you to provide it id say they aren't very inteligent.

Has anyone successfully switched t-mobile?

As the topic says I am curious if anyone has made the switch to t-mobile and got everything working. There's a thread on the tmo forum about getting the AT&T variant working using QPST but they where asking for the QCN file from our version and I don't know if it's needed or if there's another work around. The AT&T/ TMO thread is here:

The guy that got that working on the att version still needs the qcn. The one he had didn't have all the nv's and was taken with older version qpst. It needs to be 2.7.374 or newer. He's still willing to work on it if you can get that to him.

You will only get edge data unless you are in a reframed area. Right now tmo 4g is on the 1900aws band which the Verizon note doesn't support

They do kind of just not that aws band. If you're in an area with the reframed towers you will 4g I'm not sure about there lte though.
I was only kind if joking though earlier. List your note on craiglist. I got 450 but sold within hours. Go to Walmart and pay 278 on contact with t mobile. Then call t mobile and mitigate your classic plan to a value plan for the 200 fee. You now have 60 a month and 478 for the phone.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
I would do that but I am still under contract and the bezel on my note has some nicks from falling out of my pocket before I got a case for it. That's why I am trying to use phone instead of selling.

Just tried switching sim card with a Tmobile friend. Tge Tmobile sim is a regular SIM that is too big for our stock microsim slot. A hardware mod is required or it may just be the fact that the SIM came from a S2.

You do realize that there are various sized SIM cards right? The original VZW LTE phones used the larger SIM card. The iPhone 5 uses a smaller SIM card.

It doesn't have to be 90 days. I called the same day and did it. If the phone hasnt been active for 90 days they call you back in 48 hours and ask you security questions. Once you hang up the rep will email you the ulock instructions.

I've researched a lot but since I'm not on sprint i cant get it internationally unlocked to use it with gsm networks. So can I flash to use cricket or metro pcs without a sim card?
