Rooting after the 4.3 OTA Update - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Cant seen to find any instruction on rooting/unlocking the bootloader on an Att HTC One with the 4.3 OTA Update-Any ideas anyone?

Same way as always

Mind pointing us to a guide?
So the ota update didn't change or affect anything?? I've never seen that happen. Usually an ota update blocks any type our root exploit until someone figures how to crack it.

Ya that what I was thinking, before I go ahead with it-I require atleast one more confirmation that this is untrue

The only thing that got blocked is the exploit that allowed s off because hboot was updated

confirmed. you can still unlock and flash custom recovery like you always have, but the new hboot makes it impossible to s-off at this point (unless you pay for a java card or for a shop who has one to perform the s-off). There have not been any reports (to my knowledge) that ATT or HTC has blocked unlocking via htcdev.com

Which is why I said unlock bootloader first. Honestly, it's as simple as I listed it. And if you don't plan on flashing ruu's for other models, s-off isn't that big a thing. I have it, it's nice to have, but if all you want is to root, flash roms, etc, just unlock and flash custom recovery.

What happens if you run the exe file that is the GPE RUU from the HTC site (Brightstar) after you have OTA'd to 4.3 ATT version? This is my only phone so I didn't try for fear of bricking it, but it seems like it opens the rom upgrade utility program and would flash a different ROM, or does it check and then fail the install?

I guess it's a catch 22, can't s-off after 4.3 OTA, so can't change CID, or obtain the SuperCID status, is that what I am understanding at this point?

Unlocked bootloader through HTC

Ok so now that we can unlock our bootloader through HTC what's next? Does this turn S off? I know I'm going to have to install a recovery still, but does this give me the capability to install superuser? Does anyone have any idea what options I will have once I unlock it through HTC? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

No it does not turn off Ship S-off...And u cant flash a custom recovery either when using HTc unlocker
yes. with S off you can install custom recovery like any PG image
It doesn't take S-off. I have read that TWRP doesnt work and CWM has and hasnt worked.

ditto. i have only had this phone a couple of weeks and a waited a while anticipating the "official" unlock, but i couldn't stand it. i went ahead a did it and i'm glad i did. besides, htc doesn't need to know i'm rooted anyway.
HTC never said it would be S-off only that the bootloader would be unlocked. You still need to find an exploit to gain s-off so a custom recovery can be installed. If you remember the original Evo had an unlocked bootloader but you still needed an exploit like unrevoked's rage against the cage to gain access to s-off and custom recovery. You still have alot of work ahead of you and now you've voided any warranty that isn't hardware related. Also, it says on the HTC's website that once you unlock any future OTA's may brick your phone. You are definitely better off using Revolutionary.io.
so could unrevoked come up with something now that the bootloaders are unlocked with HTC? to root the phone.

Iwill probably wont root again until Jelly Bean Update

I lost my root on the last OTA and since there are still no new method to re root on this new version might as well wait till the JB update. I think by Mid August / Sept we can see the new OTA to JB

"Successful in rooting all builds up to 1.13.651.1."
It works for 1.22. It unlocks your phone and installs twrp. You just have to flash chainfires 0.94 superuser to be fully rooted

Yes, S-OFF on hboot 1.15 is a work-in-progress, perhaps with a future Lazy Panda exploit.
I believe the original user's requirement was root and unlocked on the current OTA.
These are HTC phones. You can always use HTC dev as a last resort. We will always have root.
Also, don't accept otas if your rooted or ever plan on rooting.

You are probably using SuperSu as the superuser app. You can go into settings of that app and select permanent unroot.
You can then lock up you bootloader by opening a command prompt and going to your adb and using fast boot commands you can type fastboot OEM lock you can then proceed to download the latest ruu 2.13 just search the on here for it and run that with your phone still connected to your computer.
If your soff you can just run the ruu or install a stock ROM via recovery.
Multiple ways to do it just depends on a lot of variables like what ROM your on, s-off or s-on, what hboot your on 1.12 or 1.15, if you just want root gone or you also what to dump custom recovery as well and if you want it completely stock like it just came out of the box.
Let us know some more info and someone will help out

You'll need to re-lock the phone and then run the RUU then.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yS7yy4XVA4
RUU:

For h-boot 1.15 you'll need the 1.22 RUU
You run it from your computer.

Convert AT&T to International

Just curious if anybody has converted their AT&T Stock HTC One to an International One. Unfortunately I cannot root my phone since I use it for work and due to security settings mobileiron will block my emails if it detects root.
So my end goal is to convert my AT&T HTC one to an International One so I can get the latest updates via OTA without having to wait for AT&T.
I have posted a guide which is a WIP at the moment here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43397755

Ok suppose somehow i convert it to international cid and mid, but again the latest RUU is only 4.1.2 available... But i can recieve 4.2.2 OTA that is rolling for international htc one right? But again everyone is saying that s-off is not available for 4.2.2 ... So now what?

All I know is you have to change the cid not the mid and after that I don't know because I have no desire to do that. The cid for an unlocked one is HTC__001
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
So I have tried this but currently stuck....
I got S-OFF and I was able to change the CID to HTC_Y13 (which currently has 4.2.2 pushing).
So I tried to install the RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13.3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed however it said that it is not compatible.
After that, I went down the path and changed the CID to 11111111 and I was able to flash that RUU
Hooked up to WIFI and there was the 1.29.401.12 update pending. However this is where I am stuck....it will download the update however when it goes to apply it it will tell me that my system is modified and that it can't install it.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The only issue that I have noticed so far is that I am unable to get LTE. Curious if I can flash an AT&T radio from the 4.1.2 release or maybe just wait for the official AT&T update and then flash that radio. I am still getting about 14Mbps/5Mbps so speed is not currently an issue but would like to have LTE.

AT&T HTC One Firmware update

Yes I know there have been threads on this but all deal with custom roms.
I have the stock rom, rooted and unlocked bootloader, with TWRP recovery. What do I need to do to get the OTA update, OR is the update available anywhere that I can just flash it through TWRP.
I am assuming I will need to flash the stock recovery back (Which I don't have), and possibly lock the bootloader. Does locking it clear the phone like unlocking it does?
Is the AT&T OTA update 4.2.2 or just some tweaks? Anyone know the benefits?

What is the lastest FW for htc one At&t?
I am sick of waiting att to release 4.2.2. The only solution I read now is to convert att rom to developer edition, which requires s-off and supercid. However, I have no intention to keep the device bootlocker unlocked. And I heard current s-off and s-on methods no longer work with 4.2.2.
So would it work if I convert the rom to developer edition, then s-on and relock the device, and at last upgrade to 4.2.2?
I'm running 1.26.502.12
I believe this is the latest.

That is a viable option if you're already rooted. I ran AT&T stock rooted 1.26.502.12 for a while myself. But I've used both Scott's Clean Rom (Based off of stock AT&T/ HTC 4.1.2) and I'm using Android Revolution HD 12.1 today (HTC 4.2.2). Once you're rooted, there's those and plenty of other variations on HTC's Sense 5 interface with either 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 out there so there's not really allot of reasons to stay bone stock. Any updates (or the useful parts of them, at least) will be picked out and used by the Devs we have working on the One so I wouldn't bother waiting on OTAs. Just keep a nandroid of your stock setup in case you need to revert back for warranty purposes.
Good luck with att. They genuinely suck. I flashed to viperrom and supercid and flashed firmware my self. Not going to wait till Christmas for a damn update from them while they figure out how to update their terrible apps like att drive.
