I made the mistake of starting two threads about the same thing in two separate forums.
The gear works nearly flawlessly with the i527 Mega.
Follow this link to an in depth post for the how and what to setting up the gear.

How do you remove the bloatware on the Att Mega without root? As far as I've seen I can only turn things off and that selection is limited

i bet he just meant he disabled the apps since the bloat cannot be removed without root.
Can Galaxy Gear run alone without mobile phone ?
Great thanks for sharing
Just an update
I've been able to push 'gear' apps to the watch by simply installing the .apk files already in the gear market pulled from another thread.
weather still doesn't work... and that seems to be about all that is missing

I thought it did but I just saw a spec sheet and did not see it listed so I am not sure now.
Yes, the antenna for it is in the battery door like how the blackberry9900 is. There are 2 metal contacts on the inside of the battery door.
Image 8 shows the contacts

Yes, it is in the AT&T version. It is not listed as a spec though.
All the new AT&T phones (the high end versions anyway) all come with NFC but none of them have working software stack. Basically they are disabled until AT&T sponsored ISIS takes off. So, consider the NFC as non-functional until AT&T has a change of heart.

Or until we have a canadian or korean rom that has it enabled. Both my ATT skyrockets have nfc enabled through a rogers rom
And it actually works? Which rom? I have seen it but have not been able to get it to work.

Anyone else find it pretty coincidental that as the Galaxy Note comes out that Google Wallet opens up to AT&T Nexus phones on the Android Market. I wouldn't give your hopes up, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
With all the security problems (two ways for other ppl to reset the GWallet pin on your phone, one requires root, one doesn't) recently discovered in GWallet, I will steer clear of that app.
Recently found this free service from Samsung. Allows you to remotely find your
G-Note, lock it, erase it etc.
Been trying to make this work for a few days. It is working on the International Note.

Can register the phone with Samsung. Can link to the account on the phone. The web menus don't seem to be enabled. The international setting screens have some choices we don't.
Samsung US support had no clue. Anyone know anything about this?
how are you able to link the account to the phone? i'm having trouble finding the samsung account on my phone, when i go and try to add an account..
I tried this last week and do not believe it works for AT&T phones.

Same story with AT&T version of GS2, AT&T removed the necessary software on the phone so it is not possible to let AT&T version to communicate with Samsung's service.

What are the real differences w/ Verizon Note 2 vs to other Note 2 versions? And I am not talking about stickers. What is the differences in hardware, software and overall experience? And are they giving multitasking out the door? Etc...

Anything right now about this is just pure speculation.
Right now it is thought they are pretty much identical to Sprint / AT&T models, except for maybe multi-window feature. It seems like there are updates that have been rolled out/will soon be available by carrier and a modified ROM that is supposedly going to be released on XDA that has the feature.
only known difference is home button branding on verizon only.
tmobile and att have wireless charging contacts exposed on back panel
sprint does not

I thought the leads on the Sprint version were covered up by something.
There are some different pre-installed apps on the various carrier branded versions. Hardware is the same as far as I know, minus possibly the battery. I think carriers may also offer slightly different color variations as well, similar to the SGS3. For the most part though, Samsung has stopped making 400 different configurations of one phone and are making one phone and just changing the software around for the various carriers instead.
I'm curious if the Verizon version will be quad-core.

There's no need to be curious. It is quad-core.
Hardware will only be different in color/branding, and any changes to the radio chips/firmware so they work with VZWs network. Other than that, all devices should be the same from a hardware standpoint. Software is where most of the differences will be, but most of the stuff should be the same as well, with only a handful of carrier specific apps being different.

Where?
If it is a rep I wouldn't read too much Ito what they say. Without NFC that means no sbeam which seems unlikely

Are you referring to the website comparison? If so, Verizon already said that was a mistake. I second the sbeam logic.

Samsung Music Hub is part of the features of Samsung Galaxy Note II (Verizon) Check out Samsung support site for Verizon version. The site doesn't mention NFC, but Samsung's support page for T-Mobile's Note 2 doesn't show NFC either even when that device has NFC. The NFC is part of Samsung Music Hub so you can "beam" music. So I take that Samsung Galaxy Note II (Verizon) as having NFC. And yes, the support site does confirm the S Beam.

While it won't stop me from purchasing the phone, I have used NFC on my GNex like crazy. I love Gwallet and being to bump stuff over to my Nexus 7 and back. So for me, it matters a little bit
NFC is there on Verizon version. And there is a hack that gets Google Wallet installed into Galaxy Note 2 and running.
The main question is "When can our community find a way for us to get around the bootloader locked?", so we can root these babies.

Anyone have any insight on what is required or if possible to have wifi calling on an unlocked/rooted VZW Note II running on TMO network?

I was trying to get it working on a Verizon ROM I really liked. There were 3 libs and two apks I found linked to it.i never did get it working because there's also frame work references to it. Have you tried a tmo ROM to see if it would work?

I considered that but I am enjoying JellyBeans 14 w/Saber 21 far too much LOL
I may just sell the sch-i605 and pick up a retail boxed TMO version if I do anything. I also used the S4 for a couple of hours it I really cant get over the larger screen and real estate of the Note II ; so I wouldnt consider it an "upgrade". My Note II with an Antutu of 19K+ I really dont have any true use for the faster CPU of the S4 right now......

please correct me if i am wrong but i don't think this is even close to possible as wifi calling is not necessarily as software hack but this is something actually built into tmo mobile spectrum similar to like vzw's using data while on a phone call, i recall a verizon rep telling me this.

From what I have dug up and seen thus far its basically a SIP client with tmo ties back to the android framework. It has nothing to do with the tmo spectrum aside from which band your transmitting over as it is a glorified VoIP client from anything I can tell.

Not "in the spectrum". It connects to the carrier over the internet, the normal cellular signal isn't involved at all. It requires both a helper app and framework support for it to happen though, and that stuff would only be present in the T-Mo firmware.
Here's a brief primer on it: http://www.wificalling.net/whatiswificalling/

There is a lot of stuff in the framework that needs added as well, on top of the APKs and LIBs. I believe most of it is in framework2.jar.

You are def right. Was pouring through the tmo apk and then the decompiled framework2 and see its in IPCallTracker , IPPhoneProxy , IPUtils , WifiCallSwitchPreference and score of other places.....
This will not be a simple apk and lib drop .
So I've been reading about the various things we can do with our new s4s. One thing I've been reading about is blocking mode. Apparently Verizon removed that for some reason...a$$holes.
Would there be any way to get that from a sprint or att version?? Seems like a sweet way to control notifications etc.

I ported it to Verizon for the SG3, it's a very hard port, and took me a very long time. I do have it 100% working and fully ported to Verizon .apks
I could most likely get this for the SG4 as well, but I need the phone.
I added blocking Mode to the Verizon phone. There's a simple build.prop like edit somewhere on the forum to unlock the feature. I can't find the exact post on my phone now, but I think it was in that "differences between the Verizon and ATT s4 with fixes"
Good luck!

Adding the blocking mode toggle is easy. But accessing the blocking mode settings via settings or long pressing toggle requires actual edits to settings and framework and potentially systemui. I forget where all I saw traces of it when I had the files all torn down.
My BluKuban port has it fully working. I use blocking every night. It's amazing. Another ROM I ran had it fully working viz a backdoor app but I forget which one it was.
