S-view cover question - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

Anyone know the name of the process so I can adjust it back to standard dpi? Just picked up a case and my dpi is modified via build prop

No one knows? Since my dpi is modified via build prop to 340 the s view cover widow is very small. Looking for which process to manually move back to 480dpi to fix it.

I know you can if you have x posed framework with different modules

I didn't ask if it is possible to change DPI. I have already done that. I am asking if anyone knows the name of the app or process I modify to affect the s-view screen. I can't find it.

I have the same problem. I couldn't find a way, and the case was starting to annoy me anyway--lack of third party music control--So I put it to rest and til we can get some mods for it. I was really underwhelmed by it--although it was sleek. the sview seems to directly correspond with the lockscreen and there is no way to manually change the lockscreen dpi with out changing the rest of the system ui.

How do I alter specific aspects of .apk program ("LauncherPro") files?

Sorry, I don't even know how to describe (in the title) wat I'm asking but:
I have custom LP 'Dock' and 'Icon' images on my SDcard (thnx 'bad4u6669') that I'd like to use to replace the stock LPplus images.
So if possible, how can I accomplish this? Can I just move them to 'LP' itself (thus replacing current options/files) or add them? And how do I locate/navigate to those files?
Would I use "Root Explorer" or "ADB"? (currently am try'n to learn "adb." I tried installing "setCPU" from "Android-sdk-windows/platform-tools" and "SDK" said it: "can't find 'setcpu.apk' to install" it.)

You can change that in the settings for LP. .apk is the file extension for programs for our phone, not LP.
No. I want to change/CUSTOMIZE options inside LP.
i.e.:replace stock dock n icon options w/ custom dock n icon options.
Like u'd see in a custom ROM, so that when I go into pref.s n appearance in LP to select a dock (say...froyo wide) instead of seeing the stock I'll see my custom dock.

I'm soooo sick of pressing a million buttons just to test different icons n such.
Note: I'd rather add options than replace them. Also I realize the the solution's Polly too difficult for me to accomplish as hastily as I would please.

Get a free app called Desktop Visualizer. That allows you to use your images for docks and icons.

Just to clarify, I do know how to set custom icons n docks in LP. I want to add and/or change the default icons n dock options inside of LP itself.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Do you mean change the icons and shortcuts they link to? If so that is the app for it.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
I don't know. Will it let me create a custom dock and set it as the default option for say..."froyo wide" as opposed to the stock "froyo wide"?
I want to alter (as the developers do) the .apk file itself-I'm pretty sure an app won't do that. Tho I don't know.I haven't checked it out yet.
Besides "bad4u6669" already emailed me the answer. Thnx tho. I'll look into soon
No that does the same thing as the 'custom' option in LauncherPro. Like I said, I already know how to set them. It's just a hassle to change bak n forth.
Anyway I guess I'm not explaining well enough but I got the answer n I feel like I'm go'n in circles. Thnx tho

One of the first things I did was set it to 240. Seeing as I run 160 on my gs2 it was sort of a necessity. also 240 guarantees full market access.
Any issues with 240 ? Dialer our screen not properly aligned?

I use go dialer because the stock dialer shrinks and is off center but that's really only thing i noticed

My icons are off-center and cut off. Which is too bad because I really like the lower density.

If you use touchwiz its guaranteed to happen. Switch launchers (all good on go launcher and adw) or search for a mdpi version. The hyperdroid guys make one iirc.
Edit: I see the dialer. I'mgoing to try to push A mdpi version

Change the line
Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density=320
to
Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
in /system/build.prop, either using Root explorer or ADB
As for my results, aside from scaling everything down, it looks very crisp and clear. I'm too used to the 320 resolution, so i'm going to set it back.
Can someone post an mdpi touch wiz and dialer....I'm actually liking the touch wiz.....240 looked nice but having the launcher cut in half and drawer sucks, and messed up dialer to...but man 240 looks nice

Go to the market and get an app called Nitrality. You can change your dpi with it and it'll stick after reboot unlike LCD changer

Guessing you need root for that?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA App
I just downloaded Nitrality, but didn't change the setting because it looks like it only allows you to set it as high as 240. That is, it says 320 (default) when you open the dialog for it, but as soon as you slide the slider, the highest you can go is 240. This leads me to believe that the slider is hardcoded to top out at 240, and that if you change it using this app, you won't be able to go back to the stock 320 using this app. Just a word of warning if you are only trying to see if you like it. Someone who has used this app might be able to check if the 320 option appears after you have set 240? I kind of doubt it, but it's possible.

Nitrality tops out at 300. To go back to 320, you an always just manually change the value in the build prop.

the LCD Resolution app I use you can set it to change on Boot and it has a button to revert to Stock right on it so if you wanted to go back it goes right to 320

[Q] haw can i change setting.apk to have a black background with white text

Does anybody know how to edit the Setting for my phone to have a black background and whit text, im getting tired of this ugly white background
Can you be more specific? I see in your thread title you say settings.apk. Are you saying you want a black background and white text just in the settings? What ROM, if any, are you using? If you are using a custom ROM like CM7, I believe its made that way by default. Its been a while since I have used it. I think even Eclipse is black but I'm not 100% sure. So I am guessing you must be on stock Gingerbread. Which means the only way to really do it is to install a custom ROM.

yeah im just on the stock rom, and i want to change the settings in the actual settings app to have a black background and white text. Any ideas on how to do this?? any help is appreciated
Truth be told, trying to decompile and then edit an apk file is more painful than pulling teeth. Like js said above, you'll want to flash a custom ROM to gain real customization. There's plenty here that are awesome.

alrighty, thanks for the help... but one more question, which .png file is the actual status bar in the framework-res.apk file?
Well you could either open every png file until you find the one you're looking for. But the only way to know for certain (our so I believe) would be to have access to the actual xml file within the apk that references that png resource.
The only downside is that if the apk was obfuscated when it was compiled (and most are) you probably won't have access to that xml.
This comes from my dabbling in android app development. However, some greater, smarter person than myself may have a different answer.

Anyone change their dpi?

I changed my dpi to 280 to get a little bit smaller look to things. The issue I'm having is the lockscreen does not fill up the full screen anymore. I know there is a correction thing built in with the LG settings but settings is not one of the there, only downloaded apps. Anyone know a way to fix it? Using The Base Rom.

To fix the lock screen go into lock screen settings and change image to something else then change back to the image you want and it corrects this issue

Tablet mode would be awesome. I have no idea how that whole system works without messing something up. I noticed that with the 280 dpi the camera app would not keep the pictures I took. The shutter worked but never saved the picture.
Thank you for the tip on the lockscreen image. I'll try it and see what I can figure out with the camera.
Sent from my LG-E970 using Tapatalk 2
Yea the camera app needs to be run at 320 to work flawless, if you change your dpi to between 190 - 204 that turns tablet mode on, its sweet I suggest try it, but install a 3rd party launcher 1st otherwise it's a real pain to install 1 after but possible lol I had to do it that way because in tablet mode home launcher crashes and DOES NOT WORK lol, found out hard way

Mod the build.prop with the ro.sf.lcd_density line. It's there just need to search for it.

Who has changed their DPI?

One of the first things I thought of when I got my phone was "wow, EVERYTHING is way too big". I tried shrinking icons and text, but still want happy with things like the system ui.
Once I had my phone rooted I dove into the build.prop file and changed from 480 to 320, and couldn't be happier! Naturally the launcher was jacked up, but Nova launcher fixed that. The only remaining annoyances are a few Samsung apps that don't scale properly, the phone, camera, calculator and I'm sure a few more I haven't noticed. I know there are multi-DPI apps available for the unlocked S4, but I didn't want to be the first to test them on Verizon.
If you've changed your DPI, what did you go with? Any problems? Have you tried the multi-DPI Samsung apps?

Use the xposed mod, should work just fine as it isn't phone dependent.
Just did this, amazing. My first thought too, this phone is for visually impaired! What are some other good values, if any, between 320 & 480?
I've tried exposed in the past on my GN (Toro) running AOKP and came away mostly disappointed. Fact is, I want EVERYTHING to be smaller, not just select apps. I really don't get Google's insistence on making the GUI elements so big, it's not like we're dealing with resistive screens any more. I wish they would just take advantage of the fact that android scales so well and allow anyone to change their DPI either device wide or per app, then they could make everything default to smaller with big only for old and/or blind people.

I have changed mine to 420 but i cant decide if i like it or not. Sometimes its cool making everything smaller and using that screen space but other times I am missing seeing larger icons and text, showing off that resolution in the more visible graphics. Hmmm... I also tried 320 before that and everything was very very small lol.
Plus I can't use the Xposed app to fix the now cut off Gallery/Phone app because I use 3Minit Framework and app instead..
