Help!!! On my way to froyo but I can't even start, yesterday i turned off the phone so i can put it to charge (i charge the battery outside the streak) anyhow when I put the battery in, turned the streak on an starts booting with dell logo, then dell logo flashes for 1 sec, switches to O2 screen and it just stays there, it does tries to boot into android (I see the little dash on the top right) but it just stays there and keeps looping i keep looking at the dash on the top every 20 seconds or so. Anyhow I was going to install froyo later on this week but since this happened I tried to do it now, I went on with flashing clockwork mod, PERFECT.. copied the ZIP file over to the SDCARD, then I turned on the streak holding vol + -, when I tried to flash the zip file it says:
-- Install from sdcard...
E:Can't find MISC:
Finding update package...
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 (or /devblock/mmcblk1) (No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted.
E:Can't mount /dev/block/innersd0p5 (file exist)
E:Can't mound CACHE: recovery/log
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/innersd0p5 (File exists)
I did tried factory reset before clockwork mod, on clockwork mod I've tried to wipe data, no go also tried to wipe cache partition, no go, tried to individualy mount /system /swap etc, no go. i did flash the rom with O2's 6649, first time it flashed but couldn't get into android, second time I tried to flash it displayed an error like can't expand files and then it turned off.
Any toughts on how to get going?
I sold my milestone so no backup phone anymore!! sucks for me hope some1 can give me a quick hand
Well, I got it sorted for some ODD reason my internal microSD was not making proper contact with the reader, after opening the streak once more i took it out and inserted/ejected the card several times (I usally do this with my card readers on the pc, where I live, we have high humidity and metal oxidizes pretty fast I guess this was one of those ocations.) So all fine and dandy running froyo 2.2 ATM it's blazing fast. Only had it for 2 minutes
Hi I am going through exactly the same problem. I did try the insert/eject sd card several times but it doesn't seem to work for me :'(
I cannot upgrade or downgrade, Help PLEASE
Just to make sure it is the "user inaccesible" microSD card the one that holds the system, you have to tear down your device. At least that worked for me. when working proper it should only say "E:Can't find MISC:" if you see the can't mount message then you have exactly the same problem. I went off to ifixit.com to see how to open the device.. if you don't know how to do that or aren't familiar with what you are about to do i say don't do it! ask someone else to do it for you, it can get frustrating with the small bits and pieces.
Hi, Thank You so Much for answering, It feels like you are my only hope because No one else knows what the heck is going on. ok So I go to ifixit.com and open my device but then what do I do? Do I know to replace the SD Card reader? I don't know where to buy a card reader, ANd I am hoping that you have already done it, so Is it possible to attach everything back and the device looks ok afterwards? I am just concerned because I want my device to look like it has never been opened, so is it possible to put everything back just like it was before? OK I will wait for your response and will not open up the device until I get your advice, Thanks Man....Please Help me out because I have the Dell STreak T-Mobile AWS version which works on T-mobile 3G, it is very rare and i want to be able to use it
Just to be clear, what you will be doing if you decide to open it, is basically taking the microSD card (the one with no labels) out clean it and put it back in, at least that's what I did. To do this without making any "injuries" to your streak you must be 200% careful. there are parts that are held by double side tape and they can stick to one side of things then stick itself and then you have a goo of sticky stuff and won't be able to stick the side panels back again the way it would look nice. Also there is the panel with the 3 buttons, that panel has a tiny ribbon cable stick to it for the buttons/LED that can be broken really easy so be careful. I HIGHLY advice that if you are not comfortable working with tiny thing don't do it I won't stress it more. You can damage the device pretty bad.
good luck if you decide to go for it
Which SD Card are you talking about? I mean when I would open the device, you mean I should insert and eject the SD card in the slot several times to make sure that it makes contact with the reader? I am very scared to open the device, but without it I don't have a choice because you yourself know how it is because I am not able to do an update or a factory reset without mounting the sd card, Right now my Streak is not even starting because of bad recovery and I want to Mount the SD card so I could at least make it work
I don't have a choice but on the other hand I am scared to do so, I am still not clear on what will I have to do after opening up the device???
Look for the ifixit guide for more information, and I would like to also mention how important it is you are careful with the plastic cover with the capacitive buttons; I lost one streak already due to a torn cable, which incidentally breaks all touchscreen functionality and can only be fixed by replacing the whole screen.

Yeah I guess I would have to open up my Streak, since the sd card reader in my device is not mounting my sd card at all, this explains why I wasn't able to download any apps from the market, Seems like my card reader is messed up, and I don't know how I am going to get it replaced, but it's weird because the card reader reads the card perfectly fine when the phone is turned on and working, it just doesn't recognize the card in the Recovery mode, which makes me believe that there is nothing wrong with the card reader, I am just stuck in this dilemma, don't really know what to do
DOn't want to open up the device and mess up more stuff
Hey Everyone, I just fixed my Streak and apparently my Card Reader is working just fine, I just had to wait and let the device read the card for some time and now everything is working just fine, I did re-flash the 2.1 rom, may be that did the trick but who knows, still I am very Happy that my streak is working flawlessly again, Know on Wood , Thank you so Much for giving me your advice my friends, you guys are CoOl
I'm glad you didn't have to open your streak as IT can get messy.
Enjoy your new ROM
I ran into the same problem and I thought it had something to do with the internal memory. But I didn't open my device up, just called dell, told then it wasn't booting and they sent me a new device.

Long story short I find myself in a boot loop and am a little hesitant to try what I believe to be the 'next step' to recovery in case I am mistaken and totally fubar my new toy. (this is my first android device and I'd prefer not to brick it in the first 24hrs!)
As to how I got myself into this situation here's a play by play.
1) Researched internet for best value tablet with awesome dev community. Found my gtablet and xda! (buy, buy, buy!)
2) I spend the week leading up to taking delivery of my new tablet reading everything I can get my hands on.
3) Unpacked new tablet and played with stock rom briefly before saying farwell.
4) Installed clockworkmod .08 and then TNT Lite 4.4 and everything worked wonderfully
(youtube.com/watch?v=mY_FvJnWNEw&feature=related) used this method
5) when I turned my gtab on for round 2 I find myself in a boot loop, I figured there's an issue with something I changed so since clockwork seems to be working brilliantly and the update.zip file in root is the same I wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition and then rerun the update. This still leaves me in a boot loop...
6) In further reading the recommended fix seems to be repartition sdcard and then reinstall rom with clockworkmod off of sdcard2. I put the update.zip file with \Recovery\command (edited to point to sdcard2) onto the microsd popped the micro sd into the tablet and restarted... the tablet did not read the microsd when i started up clockworkmod. And so I am left with questions at this point and a semi-bricked device.
am I correct in trying to repartition the sdcard as my next step?
does the mircosd need to be of a certain format?
have I done something ridiculously obviously wrong??
Thanks in advance for your any help or guidance you can provide...
I'm experiencing the same thing man. However, i have another g-tablet that i haven[t cracked open yet and i'm wondering if i can just partition and copy/paste the folders from the g-tablet that hasn't been opened to get the device back to stock.
Hello!
I have just recently (last night) successfully recovered from your *exact* same problem. Short answer...Yes, Install CWM on your micro card, partition the sd card (2048 and 0). I have my microsd card formatted to FAT32.
Here is my thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028118
I specifically used "butchconner"'s first post although all of the responses were friendly and helpful!
Best of luck!
Pat
Wait a minute everyone!!!! (Talking about gilpin)
He said when he tried to boot the microSD card, he couldn't find it in CWM.
If CWM is up, that's the main thing he needs??!!!
If you can get into CWM, go to the Advanced Menu and run the Partition, Fix Permissions and Wipe Dalvik Cache options. Then go to the Main Menu and run
the Wipe Cache and Wipe/Reset Factory Settings.
Then re-boot and see if your tablet is okay.
If it's not (and CWM is still working), you can put the appropriate ROM update.zip
in /sdcard and then select and load it through CWM.
Hope this helps.
Rev
geedup,
If you are boot looping also, you need to re-partition and the nvflash back to
stock.
The following thread pretty well covers nvflashing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861950
After you nvflash, check to see if you still are getting boot loops.
If so, you need to load CWM and do the same thing as gilpin. When
you finish the CWM routine either it will be working -- or you can
nvflash again and it should be good to go.
Let me know......
Rev
working again...
Thanks for the fast replies all! I repartitioned my sdcard (2048, 0) reset permissions, cleared data and then rebooted. This seems to have fixed my problem as I booted cleanly and everything is working again!
Hi everyone!
I have (what I think is) a huge problem on my phone and after looking in tons of forums for solutions I found that the people here seem to really be able to help me.
I'm new to android phones... So please bare with me...
So I bought this phone in second hand from a friend who was in need of some cash for college (I don't really like to buy used stuff but...), and it came rooted with cyanogenMod7 but I was having trouble cause the phone wouldn't recognize my sd card and I couldn't connect it to my pc so I tryed to change it back to its original settings...
Its a vodafone 845 (huawei U8120)..
A friend of mine tried to help and we found this recovery menu (Clockwork recovery v3) and he chose some format options (format boot, system and data) and now the phone is useless! It still doesn't recognize my SD card or my pc, I can get into this recovery menu again but cant seem to fix the problem!
Other than that all the phone does is show the initial hourglass forever...
I would be so gratefull if someone could help! Thank you in advance!

Well you wiped the phone, so there's nothing to boot into.
You need to put a rom on the root of the SD card (not in any folders). Make sure the rom is made for your device. Boot into recovery and flash the rom, you should have a working phone after that.
Thank you for you help!
Now the only problem that stands is that the phone doesn't mount my sd card... Its an 8gb kingston, maybe I should get one with less capacity? The previous owner used a 4gb card and she said she never had any trouble regarding that...
Although the phone specifications on the net say it can handle cards up to 16gb :S
Have you tried mounting the SD card in clockwork mod as the usb disk drive?
Its found under mounts/storage.

Ok guys, I've gotten as far as flashing the rom!!
Made huge progress in exchange for several hours of sleep xD
Now the only problem that stands is that when I choose the option "flash zip from sd card" I get this:
"E: No signature (242 files)
E: verification failed
Installation aborted"
And I'm lost again, yet soooo close to fixing my phone! :/

There should be an option somewhere to turn off signature verification. If you can find that option, toggle it off and try again.
You should try installing the original Firmware.Or Reinstall CM7
I got very similar problem. Have u tried to install different sd card. Maybe current one is broken like in my case?
Note: I do not have this device
See [GUIDE]All Huawei new&old phones-Install Stock Rom-Full Reset
Procedure:
1) Download stock ROM from HERE (im guessing you want Vodaphone UK)
2) Format your SD card to FAT32 (plug it into computer, right click on device, format, follow instructions)
3) Create the folder "dload" (without the quotes of course) on to the root (top level) of your SD card.
3) Extract the UPDATE.APP from the stock ROM and place it in "dload"
4) Power off your phone and put sd card in.
5) Power on by pressing POWER+RED_BUTTON+VOLUME_UP
If done correctly you will see a progress bar saying "UPDATING!"
Edit: this will reset the device to normal, however it will of course require a working SD Card. Try using a friends, try using your card in other devices (other phones, computers, etc).
To test SD Cards in your phone:
1) Insert Card
2) Boot into recovery
3) Go to Mounts & Storage menu
4) Plug device into computer
5) Choose "Mount sdcard over USB" (or similar)
6) If it shows up on the computer it is working, and you may as well use it to carry out the steps above
Note, if you are still checking for sdcard after resetting the phone, you will need to devise another method as the recovery will be replaced. For example use the storage menu in system settings, as this will show stats on the sdcard if it is readable.
My phone is working!
The problem with the SD card was that it was password protected, so I used another phone to disable the password, about the ROM, i just picked another one, I actually found it here on XDA! The celestial teapot, I really like it
Now all I want to know is if its possible to have multitouch on my phone?
And by the way, THANK YOU ALL for your help guys! You're awsome!

No problem, glad to help. Glad you got everything up and running too Multitouch is included in the kernel (at least on my device). If you can find a custom kernel for your phone, make sure it's compatible with your rom. I'm not familiar with your phone, so you'll need to do some checking on kernels. I'm not sure if multitouch is also a hardware limitation or not, so if you don't have multitouch at all it may not be possible. Kernels determine the number of touch points on my phone, if you don't have it at all then it may not be possible or there may be another mod for it.
If you can flash a custom kernel to achieve this, remember to do a nandroid backup first. Always do a backup when flashing anything. If they start to take up too much space, delete the old ones and just keep the most recent. Also remember to only wipe dalvik and cache when flashing a kernel.
Again, since I'm not familiar with your phone you'll need to do some research on these things first. The best thing you can do is read, read, and read some more. If you get stuck again, the good people here will always be able to help you out.
Sorry, I know there's a million threads on xda for people requesting help so I hope someone can help me.
I don't know why but my phone won't mount it's storage. When I try to flash a .zip through CWM, the phone just states it can't mount /sdcard/. When I power the phone on, and I plug it into my PC, the PC says it doesn't recognize the device. Trying to boot the phone into RSD mode makes it semi-recognizable, but is only recognized as a composite device, and I am nervous about flashing back to stock. I haven't tried fastboot and the only time I mess with it is to unlock my photon again.
If anyone has some sage advice, I would be more than grateful for it. Thank you!
What rom are you running? and were you able to mount before a possible flash or update? need more info first before assistance can be given
Oh sorry, I forgot! I'm Running MIUI build MIUI.us_sunfire_v4_2.3.30. and I was able to mount without any incident at all. In fact, I didn't even notice it until just recently, because post-flash of MIUI I was still able to use my usb storage without a hitch. And I was able to flash before.
ok so are you referring to the internal sd/external/both? if external try testing the card in a stand alone reader to see if it could possibly be corrupt
The SD card is definitely okay, and I experience the issue with the SD card in the phone and out. In fact, I don't usually have one in my Photon because of the internal storage.
so external sd then? are you able to see the internal sd? if so try flashing a nandroid back up through the internal and see if you regain connectivity
Hey, I hadn't, unfortunately, had more time to troubleshoot my phone. But I basically was unable to restore from a backup because it was saying /sdcard directory does not exist. I was, strangely enough, able to reinstall the drivers from my PC and RSD back to stock 198_6. However, I still get an error message that my device has malfunctioned when I plug into PC, and just to test, trying to do an "apply update.zip via sd card" in the stock recovery 3e just gives me the same message.../sdcard directory does not exist.

Sorry if this is too obvious a question but does the /sdcard directory exist? Can you navigate to it with a file explorer and open it? Does it look like the structure is intact?

Ah, as strangely enough, I can. I can even navigate to /mnt/sdcard and /mnt/sdcard-ext. So there's a /sdcard directory and the previous two. in the /mnt directory there are /usbdisk1.0-7 files as well. Not sure if that helps, though...
Woo! Information bump! So I've been fiddling with my photon and from what I can tell, I get the same issue on 3 PCs(2 at home and 1 at work) where windows states the device has malfunctioned. I don't think it's a driver issue because it's happened multiple times on different PCs, and I know one of them definitely works.. I can definitely navigate to the /sdcard but my PC and phone recovery won't find it. Is there a way I can force the phone to mount it via fastboot? I will literally do ANYTHING to get my phone's internal storage to be read and any help would be mega appreciated!
Weren't people having issues when downgrading from a 198_7 base rom to stock 198_6. You have done a lot of fiddling around that you may have done something by accident and not have even noticed. Btw I believe anything ics based has to have 198_7 as the phones primary. Could be wrong.
That could have been the start of your problem from the beginning
just want to throw in my two cents. when I was haveing a problem with usb I couldnt mount it in cwm. Once i switched to twrp recovery i was able to mount just fine.
To everyone in this thread, THANK YOU! You guys are what make the xda community awesome. And apparently, I got it all figured out. Not sure what I did, but now the computer is recognizing the phone and so are all my other computers.
Still eternally grateful, though, to everyone in this thread.
Hey, I have a problem with my Vibrant:
First I had the "Low internal storage w/ CM10, Slimbean, Hellybean due to Partition Error" and did the fix shown on XDA. However when I boot my phone it automatically goes into Android system recovery and the following in yellow letters shows:
-- Movi_check Start..!!
checksum confirmation need_checksum[1301305579]
MBR_ChkSum in header : 4.1
MBR checksum: 00A35E062CE062CE4230BC72D52C175496072
MBR Checksum Error
Movinand Checksum Confirmation Fail
-- movi_checking done!...
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Applying Multi-CSC...
Installing Multi-CSC
Then when i try to do 'reinstall packages' to install CWM, this pops up in red font:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(Invalid argument)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted.
What does kinda unbrick my phone is flashing Eugene_2E_JK2_Froyo (PDA), Vibrant_Froyo.tar (BOOTLOADER) and s1_odin_20100512 (PIT) and ticking re-partition on ODIN. This let's me go back to the stock rom, but a pop up shows that my 'Internal Memory is Damaged' and I cannot access or view the stats for my internal memory at all. And when I try to install Rom Manager I get 'Not enough space'.
I'm really stuck and would appreciate any help! Thanks!
Which "fix" did you use for low storage issue? Was it this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32346116
IIRC, the update.zip doesn't work in froyo. There is a work around but you need figure out the int SD card issue first.
Do you have any way of analyzing the internal SD card? Like storage analyser app or something like that?
I am Jack's inflamed sense of rejection.
i dont know this can works but you can try

Hi OP, I probably have very unfortunate news for you. What you are experiencing is exactly the same thing that happened to our old pal Dan_Brutal's first vibe.
He ended up sending it to me, and I could never fix it. The only thing that would boot it, was Eugene's JK2, and it had the exact same messages when attempting to flash in the stock recovery. I could never get the EU fix to work either, it seems to he a deeper problem than that.
I went as far as using the reparted method, since I could successfully connect to the phone via adb and adb shell, and rebuilt the partition table via shell, and still, nothing would work, internal sd was lost and all it would ever boot from was an Odin flash of JK2, and that sd error never went away.
After about six months of trying different fixes, we decided it was a lost cause, and a severely corrupted internal sd. That was in fact the phone that was parted out in an attempt to get Woody a USB port replacement.
I say try the EU fix/workaround, it's gonna be your best bet at getting a running phone again. I could never get it to take when I was in your shoes, but I wish you better luck than I had.
