I have Dev Firmware..Can it help ME7 users? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

See my other post here. I think that maybe since I was able to flash the tz.mbn that we might be able to exploit the TrustZone similar to how djrbliss did with moto's bootloaders? Of course flashing the dev firmware failed predictably, it did however get much further than MDK;s firmware does. Anyone have any ideas? If not, this might also be able to help kexec. If you guys have any questions/suggestions let me know.

Surge, you think you should post this in the Safestrap discussion thread so hashcode might stumble across it? If he thinks it would help he'd probably recognize it quickly.

Good idea, im just waiting for a user of the dev gs4 to flash the dev modem and confirm it works for them. I confirmed it works on me7 but it would be pretty silly for me post the entire firmware in the gs4 development thread without having a single person confirm that any of it works besides myself lol. Ill post in the safestrap thread once I can actually provide a link to the firmware (that is, once I can post it in development).

Keep in mind that my developer edition was rooted with the all in one tool so my kernel is not correct but modem successfully flashed. Put up the rest and I will be a guinea pig for the rest of the dev phone users. I can use my gs3 if this one bricks.

This is getting me closer to out of the box stock because my wifi is broke now. No big deal as I can flash stock mdk radio and be fine. Also unlimited data helps to. Look at my screenshot above as to why.
One step closer to a complete developer edition package.

Is this kernel version correct? Wifi works now. But I also flashed scroslers stock module package before I flashed this kernel. Wifi did not work until I flashed this kernel, even with stock modules.zip.
I hope I am being of some help to you devs.

What build are you on? I hope you're not on MDK and trying to update to ME7!
I want to be on the latest version. Not going to be rooting this phone again plus I don't want the constant notifications.

If you can Odin ME7 over MDK, this should work.

I would install custom recovery. Then flash a ROM with ME7 base. That'll get rid of the notification and put you on the latest build with a bunch of tweaks.

To each his own I guess. The link Diceroll provided will do the trick. It hurts my heart though.
I'd do some one a favor here and trade devices with someone on me7 if your still on MDK.

Updating to official ME7 through Verizon is just such a permanent decision. Are you absolutely sure you don't want to flash ROMs, kernels, mods, etc in the future? Why close that door?

Ya, users that enjoy stock then update away and see what's new and exciting. If someone is using safestrap on me7 for roms then I would wait on the update until it is tested.
Lol. I screwed something up by getting over my head with some deep settings and ended up losing 3g/4g. I was on mdk and rooted. My last resort was to unroot and factory reset. I then thought hey I'll update to me7 and go the safe strap route. I get back to my desk and see MI1 as updated and current version. Wonderful my luck has been today!!

I'll pm it to you guys if you want, but I don't think anyone should post them publicly until we know how/if it has any effect on root
I will try this root method sometime today and get the results back. I was mainly like everyone else and curious about safestrap with update.
Please do. The modem itself shouldnt have any effect. But please do.
Well nothing on the inter webs that I can find. Most speculating all under the hood stuff and security of course. Still running stock rooted/debloated as DD so will probably steer clear myself.

MJ7 is just like ME7 and MI1, it's locked down tight. If you're lucky enough to have MDK then you're definitely better off enjoying your freedom, but if you want the update badly you should trade it for someone who already is stuck on an updated phone so they can enjoy it.

MK2 mobile Odin ROM options

I've been away a while. If I'm understanding correctly I can one click route my MK2 and install Samsung based ROMs without a custom recovery using mobile Odin. Can anyone please confirm it or correct me? If I'm right can you give me ideas what to look for in a ROM that will work with this method. Thanks and sorry if this has been asked. I did search but there wasn't much to look at in terms of direct solutions.

Personally, I've never heard of what you're describing. The only way I know of with MK2 is to root using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758.
After that, your only option for roms is Safestrap. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441441. You will only be able to install TouchWiz 4.3 based roms. Make sure they're compatible with Safestrap before you install.
My advice would be to do a lot of research. This is a good place to start. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606501.
Good luck
Edit: Just noticed your profile says your using AT&T. This is the Verizon forum.

This is the Verizon forum, not at&t. However I believe mobile odin is only useful for restoring the phone to a factory state without a computer, not flashing roms, yet you must be rooted. I could be wrong though.

Ok looking like I misunderstood then. Thanks for the clarification. I don't think I trust the idea of the safestrap. I know it's safer, but I have been flashing ROMs for years and the recovery method makes me warm and tingly. I don't think they'll ever crack into the ability to flash the way we're all used to. For every genius we have that's capable of figuring it out, Samsung has 10 that can stop it. I pray they get it, but my hopes are fading.

safestrap has been around for years for other phones and recently hashcode ported to the S4 last fall. I have used it since that time with zero issues and have been running several ROMs at a time to evaluate, with again no issues with safestrap. Not sure why you wouldn't "trust it".....as it gives all us non-MDK owners ability to run something else than just stock.

Exactly, I've been hammering away on Safestrap since my RAZR and it's really safe just like the name implies. Granted I could flash AOSP on the razr, but my guess is at some point kexec will come around for the S4 as well. Too many really smart people working on that project for it to fail in my opinion.
Anyways.... For now Safestrap is awesome, and happy to have it.

Not sure anyone can help you if your not sure you want to try the method in the first place. The thread Naddict refers to says its roots MK2 in the title. The bootloader Is locked so no AOSP. Theres a sticky that most people refer users to when they ask this question (which is at least 4 times a day) I trust you'll be able to find it though.

The only reason I wasn't sure if I wanted to try it is because I'm strictly wanting AOSP ROMs... I hate Touchwiz with a passion. So if I can't use any AOSP ROMs, I won't bother rooting it.

No that's not possible sorry. Wish it were that easy.
Look into SafeStrap compatible ROMs for the Verizon s4... There's a list on here of them. Some pretty cool ones that have the feel of aosp.
Or... Go on swappa and buy an MDK build which you can run aosp on.
