I'm having the same issue how do I get this thing to stop
Sent from my SM-N900P using xda app-developers app

Mine will have great battery one day and the next it will be almost dead by noon. It gets hot often too.
Sent from my T-Mo Note 3

Same here seems like the phone can't find an equilibrium point for some reason

The battery drain is coming from Google now location reporting services. I've disabled the Reporting Location piece and battery life has improved tremendously. You will lose the ability for Google now to "learn" location and give you timely reminders. Other than disabling this option, I've gone down every other option with no better results. Good luck!

I found the fix, I think :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46474399#post46474399
Please leave feedback, if it works for you.

Bad battery overnight

Hello.
I'm loving absolutely everything about my s3 it's amazing.
But I have one issue, my battery life overnight.
Something is keeping phone awake!
How do I stop this?
Thank you.
Also is there going to be a fix for cell standby? Has any other phone had this cell standby issue and been fixed?

Search for betterbatterystats on xda and use that to find whatever is keeping your phone from deep sleep.

Check wifi sleep policy its by default always on turn it off it will make difference...

But his WLAN is off as you can see. I have the same problem loosing 30% over night although being in Flightmode.
Usual suspects are latitude and the system backup. But as it has been said before get BetterBatteryStats and try to find the battery hog there.
Will do thank you.
Just charging now then will check batt stats tonight.

Camera app

Is anyone's camera app leading in app battery usage? I didn't take a single picture today but it had the most usage. Just curious if anyone would know why or if this is normal.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
Yes..... But mine was for a camera error. The I ended up getting a replacement
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Mine is leading in battery usage as well. Funny thing is, when you look at the details in the stock battery usage app, the only thing that shows is 3-90 seconds of forground CPU usage, and nothing else.
Using 3rd party apps (battery stats plus) shows 8-12 hours of camera sensor usage. What's the chance this is a bug?
Or maybe bad hardware.

I just took a look at mine. Looks like whenever the view finder is on it's using the GPS radio. That's probably not great for battery. Other than that I'm not sure.

[Q] Overnight battery drain

I am new to Android and very new to Samsung devices coming from iphone. Last night I was at 100% battery before bed and woke up at 71%. I didn't use the phone once. Is that normal? Should I be turning things off or something? 30% overnight drain seems wrong.

Seems like something is amiss. I left mine on all night lastnight at 33% I THINK and its at 18% right now. 1d 1h 55m 47s on battery with 3h 43m 23s of screen on time right now at 10:29AM
Hmm. I forgot to say I have power saving enabled and the usual battery saving tips too.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
That js a very big problem. as you can see i get alot of time on battery. The graph shows that it charged about 10% while I was sleeping (not true). Are you rooted?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
I am rooted. I checked battery usage and messaging was at the top? An exchange account is fully set to manual and nothing else.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
my device drains less than 2% over the course of 8hrs when sleeping...you have a app causing a wakelock.

Stock sms. However I noticed one of my contacts is on Google Talk and I was logged in to that. Would that stay open all night?

No. There's something wrong. Force Close the messaging app and restart it. Wait a few hours and see if its battery usage goes down.
Possible...
The most likely culprit is the "wakelock" issue mentioned above.
Basically it means something... most likely a poorly written app (also most likely a 3rd party non-google app) is preventing the phone from entering its idle/sleep mode, in which it scales back the CPU to minimum, and other bits enter low power states to conserve battery life.
An app that likes to live on the internet or update frequently, or constantly wakes the device to do things, can cause large amounts of drain as well.
It is also possible that signal strength is a cause. Poor/low signal can keep the radio working at higher power levels and that drains battery fast.
Is there any way to check for wakelock applications causing issues? I have removed a few possible applications and force stopped others. I seem to be losing 1-3% battery per hour on idle. Normal now based on everyone's experience?
If it is a signal strength issue I can live with that but the drain still seems steep.
Sorry for the questions. Too new to this to be able to determine if there are issues and everyone is having great battery life.

Several battery apps that can show that type of info, I've used Gsam battery monitor before myself.
gsam battery moniter is what i use on a daily basis. it will let you know what is draining your battery. Link is for the free version. I have the paid.

Gsam battery monitor is pretty amazing. Thank you. I have an application called "Media" that seems to be running at idle. I can disable it but it looks like I would disable the Download application. It includes a process com.android.providers.media and android.process.media.

JuiceDefender on Note 2

Anyone else using it? I've used it since OG Droid, and it's always the first app installed on any phone I get. It claims to be giving me 2.01x battery life, and with any other phone I believed it but I'm seeing people post 2 days no charge and I get about 1.25 days with very heavy use, unless I'm at work (12hr shifts 4 days a week). Thoughts? Some people claim it's junk, and I'm not so sure with a battery as big as ours we need it, or if there is a better alternative? I mean we already have a Battery Saving Mode...

I'm using it,I think if you configure it with the right settings it can save you a good amount of battery.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
I personally don't think it's needed on this phone because how long the battery already lasts and I like my smartphone to stay smart. But on my lg spectrum I used deep sleep battery saver, it was pretty good.
Also on a side note time up isn't as important as screen time. I could get days if I didn't use the phone, but if you are always on it 12 hours is pretty good
Sent from my SCH-I605 (AKA NOTE 2)
I think battery saving apps are obsolete now because phone's are becoming more battery efficient and batteries are becoming larger (Mah). I don't see any need for a battery saving app anymore especially with this phone. Just uninstall it and some more RAM
I use deep sleep battery pro. very easy to set up
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
no need
I use to use that app with my gnex and evo 4g but, I leave 4g on and gps and still after 14 hours have 50% battery left... this phone is a ogre!!!

I'm currently at 32% since last charge. I'm at one day 3 hours, with five hours of screen time. I use one power guard.

Snapdragon Battery Guru

Just installed the Snapdragon Battery Guru App, apparently it spends 48 hours observing your habits then kicks on to save you battery life. I was just curious if anyone else uses this app and whether it works well.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
I remember people saying it wastes more battery than it saves. I use greenify and just restrict the apps I know burn the most battery from running in the background.
