Hello dear XDA people!
I'm pretty noobish when it comes to android tweaking, developing and stuff like that, I have rooted my phone (LG optimus L9 p76920h) but can't install any custom roms. But this isn't the problem.
The problem arose when I decided I wanted to play FIFA14 on my phone more than anything in my life. After many hours, I decided to partition my SD card and use the Link2SD method to have enough space for this game. I followed the steps on this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning but now my sd card seems to be completely screwed. I didn't hit apply after the 'format' command in minitool and accumulated all the tasks (make 20g fat32 primary, 10g ext4, 1g swap) and then hit apply. Now Windows does not recognize the sd card (it can see it but I cant explore it without formatting it, but windows nor any other program has been able to format it). The phone shows the 'blank sd card' error. I tried to command the prompt method, formatting a bunch of applications, but nothing works.
Have I completely screwed my sd card? or is there any hope? Since i followed the steps correctly, why did this happen?? I don't mind buying another sd card just so I can partition it well and play FIFA
If someone can help me I would be beyond happy. :good:
Keep it on safe place,,,

I just created a ext3 partition for my sd and it got screwed the phone couldnt recognise it said it has corrupted. ended up formatting it through phone now my firmwares screwed cant mount sd, keeps rebooting and not able to use the notification bar (TRIPMIUI mod by cf) now im reflashing my FW throuugh SEUS. Lost all my contacts and messages. Can somebody tell me where did i go wrong to cause this landslide of BULL?
- formatting sd should go first Fat32 then the remaining space go to ext2/ext3..
- both should be formatted in primary. The phone need to read the fat32, those ext2/ext3 are for the system link which only work after the phone boot up normally.
- Full backup is always a good way to prevent any unwanted landslide of fire...
I have the same issue. Partitioned my SD card and my phone could not find it after. I also tried to resize my fat32 partition with data on it along with a ext3 partition to see if it would find my sd card but had no luck making it work.

If you want to start over, reformat your SD card with this:
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/
For some reason, some of the custom roms do not recognize the SD card after you've created partitions. Reformat and try again.
Even when I reformat my sd card the phone does not detect it. I believe that its because of my ext3 partition. seems like the phone reads the 2nd partition (ext3) as the main partition of the sd card.
Where does the android system determine which partition is the main one?
There must be some type of script that tells the system what partition to look for. Am I right?
If there is then maybe we could mod the script so it, always reads from a certain position first.
Anybody know anything about something like this?

sd card not recognized after installing 2.2
please i need some help.. my phone wont recognize my sd card after i installed 2.2 froyo custo rom.. and one more thing, i used the backup/restore on xrecovery but it says mismatch
i have done the samething but... i choosed the ext2 instead of ext3 try that? maybe it will help and remember to set up both as "primary" goodluck.

Hi guys,
For a couple of times now, my X10i can't find my SD card after rebooting my device.
It says: 'Process system doesn't respond'
I only download market apps, and install it on my internal memory.
My X10 runs on Rendeiro's 'Scamble' Rom with .54 base band.
My SD card is a Traxdata 16GB Class 6.
And there is no possibility to let my phone recognise the SD card...
Maybe it's a little bit unclear for you, but maybe someone has had the same problem, or someone has a solution?
Thanks!
Boris
Can you format your SD card and try? May be faulty card?
Sometimes format and using the SD card worked for me!
No I have several cards (Kingston 4GB Class 4, Sandisk 8GB Class 4 and Traxdata 16GB Class 6) and all have been formatted in FAT-32 with 2048 clustersize and automatic cluster size. System fault keeps coming. I first thought it was a faulty app, but it even happens when I don't install it (Absolute system root tool 1.7.3)
Can you make full recovery backup and try it on another rom.may be it's rom related?

Do you have any special software installed on your x10 which may be interacting weirdly with the SD filesystem?
app2sd works differently across ROMs (some require a special partition), but you are not using app2sd, and nothing I can see would cause a System process failure.
Have you tried mounting and reading/writing to the SD card via adb with the phone connected to a PC?
Yes that always works fine. Maybe it has something to do with apps like sd increase, setCPU or sysctl?
Im running miui 1.7.15 and i get this msg on my status bar saying damaged sd card and then it recommends formatting which i did but nothing changed except I lost my pictures and music .... it happened after i used the super build.prop tweaks .... can someone please help me fix this, thank u in advance
Plug ur phone to a computer if it detects ur sd card format using windows utility if it dont detect then u should use third-party software like acronis disk director....it's not free but it has worked for me in the past..good luck

I had this happen to me before on cm7. I reformatted it in windows (not quick format but full) and it seemed to work. But a few days later I got the SD damaged alert again. After playing this game about 3 times I decided to try SD formatter 3.0 to wipe the card and then I just booted into recovery and formatted it (seeing as it was wiped clean already) and it worked like a charm. SD formatter is free so I'd suggest giving it a try.
Good luck!

When you get this message its actually referring to your external sd(emmc).Don't format because It'll format your internal sd card which really sucks if you apps and music, etc.Try opening your ex-sd (emmc)on root explorer on your phone if you can. There's corrupt info on it I'm almost sure and wipe file that the has time stamps from like the year 1969.If you can't then use a microSD adapter and use your computer.Hope this helps.

Eh, I had this happen and formatted..it did my external sd card not the internal.
I've also never used CM7 or any other GB rom so i think it might have something to do with the SD card read ahead scripts that most ROMs are using nowadays.
Closing down thread as this is a duplicate thread. You already have a thread on this open.

hi all i have been very annoyed with sonys attitude to getting the sd card mounting wrong even after speaking to them online and over the phone i got the same reply ... this is not a fault with sony this is something you will need to contact the app devs. unhappy with this i tried fixes found on the www all came up with the same problem it all works fine on the phone but not on pc so after a bit of work i think i have a solution
the vold.fstabs in the /etc needs to be tweaked as with all others on the net but this one works with the pc as well.
has been tested on my device if you replace it with the file attached (root access required ) after renaming original to .bak .
reboot device if you get sd error on reboot please delete and restore orginal and post your finding
please note i am not a dev i have some knowledge but just a hobbyist
i hold no responsibility MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP

Hi.
Is this a bug on all Xperia GO?
I don't have any issue with my SD card on my phone, everything are working like it should i believe.
Could you please explain what kind of problem this is? The SD EXT card i believe is the extra memory card you insert into the phone. If so, i don't have any problem with that one.
Thanks in advance

this is a problem with all go and as far as i know all xperia 2012 phones where the internal memory is partitioned to system and user the user is then mounted as sd card meaning that after 4gb no more app data can be installed etc. this means that you SD CARD is unusable for apps and app data (apps2sd) will try to install to sd card but go to internal memory

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32965824#post32965824
but not working. Now everything is ok. Thank You very much!
Uhu, I messed up.
I did everything you said, but right after restarting, some apps (usbotg, media service etc) stopped working and some apps as well, I think they were in internal storage.
One thing, as you were saying, the ext_sd will be sdcard and the sdcard will be ext_sd?
[Xperia Go] are the mountpoints the same in JB?
If I switch my internal and external sd mountpoints using ICS, will a upgrade to JB using SUS overwrite the(modified) vfold.fstab?
Isuspect the upgrade will unroot the phone
can i use in xperia go JB st27i? i tried, but unsuccessfully
Hi everyone,
I bought a 64Gb memory card thinking to expand the internal memory of my Galaxy S3, I have Rooted my phone and installed the non-oficial Cyanogenmod 12.1 (which is great & works very good)
I wonder if I have to make an special partition in my card & if I can move the apps with Link2SD, or how is the procedure.
I was reading in different webs but now I'm confused now because there are different information. Even In some places they tell that is not possible, just if the Rom is original , that's the reason I decided to write here.
I hope someone can help me & thank's in advance.
Ed
I guess you should just make a partition at your sd card with partition magic (that is a pc program) then install the card and link2sd to your phone and you are ready.

and it must be linux partition (ext4 e.g.)
Leave the first partition on the sd card FAT32, and make the second to EXT

Finaly after a long time I did it, but I was very disappointed because I hope my free ram increase but it wasn't & the phone speed was pretty much the same. And the worst thing was on the next day when after a final boot, it disappear from the phone all the apk's I have installed on the SD card. I couldn't believe it, so after all time lost. I delete everything & I put the Cyanogenmod again.
At the end, I had forgotten my plan and I will use my sd card to save my music & photos. -) Very bad experience. I hope some one could read it. Thanks for the answers. Ed
Ram cannot increase. It's physically installed on your phones motherboard and that's it.

@edugarb: management of ext partition even needs more RAM. The only way to run LP on S3 smoothly is to keep the system slim.
