My rooted Sprint S3 offered to take an OTA update and without knowing much about samsung I did it, it failed because I had cloclwork recovery but now it won't offer to take the update anymore. Any suggestions how I can manually force it to trigger? Selecting Samsung firmware update from the settings menu does nothing, says I'm up to date. However I'm running L710VPLEN
you need to revert back to 100% stock. then do it or wait for a rooted update and apply that with cwm

Have you tried rebooting the phone?
Sent from My Epic Ice Cream Sandwich With Sprinkles!!!
Anyone else receive a software update this morning?
Are you on the OTA update already and then received this update?
I did the original OTA update (like a fool) and have not received any updates yet, but I also turned off my auto update checker.
Which version number is it. If it's 1.22.651.3 it's about a month old and you probably should have searched first.

Notifications for app updates are nothing to be concerned about
So when this update came out a month ago I updated and lost the ability to run a lot of applications due to a major bug. The bug only appears when the phone is encrypted and prevents chrome, chrome beta, Mint, Google search, and many more apps from opening. According to the AT&T forums HTC knows about the issue, but because AT&T sucks I doubt this will be solved in the near future.
Is there a way to downgrade to the 1.15... version that I had before the OTA update?
I have tried factory restore, along with using a computer and installing the RUU.
phone is unrooted and completely stock
Thanks
So I have a rooted One M8 with TWRP recovery running 4.4.2. Recently an update came through for 4.4.3, to get rid of the notification I froze the updater. Now for the purpose of getting Viper One, I need 4.4.3. But when I press software updates it says 'There are no software updates avalible for your phone'. But there was prior to freezing the updater. Help me :silly:
(PS. Apologies if this thread is poorly located)

Hey thanks for the reply but I don't think my problem is that complicated, is there anything you could recommend? The option to update was available until I froze the updater, now it's not.
:good:
Can anyone help?
I gave you a direct link from the rom you are trying to install that tells you what needs to be done. Not sure what else you would need. If you aren't getting prompts to update via OTA, there's 2 ways to update the firmware needed. Either via the official RUU for your phone and carrier (which probably isn't even available yet)or via a firmware package that's flashable via fastboot but you must be S-Off. Sometimes you can force the phone to check for updates by clearing the Google Services Framework, but this is not advised as it can have unintended consequences with how Google sees the phone and sends notifications and such. Plus just because there IS an available update does not mean you're next in line. Many carriers have staged roll outs and it'll get there when it gets there.
If it's too difficult for you then you either shouldn't be messing with custom roms or seek help from a qualified shop.

Thank you, the problem did however solve it's self. It turns out OTA updates are queued and by freezing the app I had reset my position. The update is now available.
I'm going to flash a stock recovery and update the firmware.
Have a Verizon Galaxy S$, 4.4.2, rooted with towelroot. Suddenly it wants to do an update from SCH-1545 to 1546. I already have SDM frozen, what else needs to be frozen?
Option B, unroot, unfreeze all bloat and let it update? Can I reroot?
Try freezing FWupdate too.
Fwupdate does not exist.
Just accidentally allowed the OTA for my VZ S4 4.4.2 that came up this morning. Tried to use towelroot to re-root, but towelroot now says "This device isn't currently supported". I'm assuming it's just a matter of waiting for a new version of towelroot to come out for this new update?
What does your version show after the update?
Hmmm, still shows Android version as 4.4.2. Baseband version is shown as I545VRUFNG6. Kernal version shows 3.4.0. I'm quite a newb when it comes to this so hopefully this was what you were looking for. Thanks in advance for the help!
Any further ideas for disabling this update? Fwupdate is not on my phone

Try this if you have SS installed, try to wipe your Dalvik Cache and Cache.
OK, found fwupgrade.apk. Dunno why Titanium didnt see it but searched and found. Renamed it to .bak. That SHOULD kill the update....
Well, so much for that theory. Upgrade ran anyway. Said successful but version info has not changed. Root is lost and towelroot says no support.
I just froze configupdater and went back to software update under settings and settings crashed.
I pushed the update back to 8am tomorrow, I'll get you know if my phone tries to update or if freezing configupdater worked.
Did you downgrade from NG6 to NC5 then root and go back to NG6.
Phone is very unstable after this "update", frequently reboots and locks up. Avoid if you can.
I have confirmed, freezing 'configupdater' does stop the update from getting pushed.
I will unfreeze it once I find it confirmed in this forum that the update has been fixed and root is available for it.
I FOUND THAT BAD BOY! I found the update software and deleted it. In Root Explorer under Cache there is a folder FOTA and I deleted its contents. The file was placed there last week around the time my phone started to pester me to update. I really hope that's it.

I froze configupdater, but my phone kept trying to update. Once I froze SDM as well, the update attempts stopped.
