Stuck with the yellow triangle, unable to use power key in recovery - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I was trying to root my phone when I got stuck in the yellow triangle screen with a GT-i9100 (even though I have an AT&T SGH-i777 device). Now before you guys all gang up on me and say I should use the search button on google/xda, I'd like to say I did read up but I couldn't find anything on my problem - I can't get into download mode and although I can get into recovery, my home button will not work there (Bummer ) I tried to connect to Odin in the yellow triangle screen but Odin will not push the .tar file (Stops at Setup Connection). Please help me!

You need to provide more detailed information before anyone can help you. How were you attempting to root? I would guess from the result that you tried to flash a kernel with odin? If this is correct please provide details. If not correct, then please explain exactly what you did in detail.
For future reference, questions should be in the Q&A forum.

Thanks creepyncrawly for the quick reply! Okay, I had flashed a rooted stock rom to my Galaxy S2 (I don't remember the stock rom code) and then I don't know what got into me, but tried to flash another kernel from www.galaxys2root.com which got me stuck in the Yellow triangle screen. But now I'm fine, I used portable adb and got into recovery mode and finally installed a stock unrooted rom (UCKH7). So I'm back to normal! Thanks again! For your help. Next time I'll read more and make sure I post the full details.
I really appreciate your help!

Glad you got it sorted. In case you haven't seen a warning elsewhere, I would advise you to avoid anything from the galaxy s 2 root website. Many users have had problems using those tools, and some were severe. You should probably be able to find anything you might need right here on xda.
By the way, UCKH7 is now two years old. You might like your phone better if you installed the latest stock firmware, UCMD8. If you want to do that, you can get the files you need from the Download Repository. Then if you want root, you should use the Framaroot application. But definitely read up first so you know exactly what you want to do, and also ask questions here if need be.

I hadn't read about Galaxy S2 Root website. I'd definitely let everyone I know to avoid that website. Yeah, XDA is amazing and more than self sufficient for every need.
I'll download the UCMD8 and flash it tonight. Again, can't thank you guys enough for all the help! You guys are simply amazing.

Like everyone says, the "SEARCH" feature is your friend. Start with looking up Odin and read up on it. From reading your comments, I'm sure it won't be the last time you will need it

Do a search for Odin or go into the Vibrant Bible and look in the first group of links. It's in there. Just follow the instructions. If you took the chance of flashing a ROM, you need to be able to do the research in order to fix problems that can arise. All the info you need is right at your fingertips, use it and happy flashing.
These type of posts just blow me away. 3 people were nice enough to provide information as to how fix your phone. Yet you ignore the offer for help. Tell you what. Send me your phone and I will fix it for you. In return, I will just keep it so you don't have the chance to brick it again and have to beg for help when the answers have been posted in the hundreds of other.....URGENT...HELP ME NOW I THINK I BRICKED MY PHONE threads and have also been posted in countless other places on the forum. Please, read the forums before you flash. I am all about helping, but when you blatantly ignore help that is offered, I feel little to no sympathy at all.
Oh man. LOL
I remember the first time I flashed a ROM. I read everything I could about it for 3 days first.
If people skip that important step, they kinda get what they deserve.
Lazy people suck!!!
Hint. The very first thread in this very forum has everything you need! READ READ READ READ

[Q] SGSII Won't boot after root

It just shows the Samsung Galaxy S II logo with yellow triangle and exclamation then a black screen???? I still can go to Recovery and Downloading Mode.
It is GT-i9100 running 2.3.5 Gingerbread from Saudi Arabia.
Do a wipe/factory reset in Recovery.

Did that. No avail.
One thing that I could add to my statement. This is a brand new device. One day old. I did root it from these instructions
software2tech . com/2012/04/10/galaxy-s2-android-4-0-3-i9100dxlp7/ (remove spaces)
and after that this happened. Whenever I'm charging the phone it just shows a green battery meter with some dots on the bottom. Then if I turn it on again it will go back to a grey battery with a spinning circle and after that the usual green battery meter.
How should we know anything about a method from another site ? Ask on the site you got the method from.
Alternatively...
Look for a kernel that matches (or closest match) your current kernel that you can find in settings/about phone in the CFRoot thread & follow the instructions to root your phone. Read the thread very carefully, particularly the bit that says "Help! Which file do I use ?". I won't be answering any questions about which kernel you should use. Read the thread & you should be able to work that out for yourself.
Edit to add - Make absolutely sure you have an I9100 or an I9100T, check the sticker on the phone chassis under the battery.

It is def. an i9100. I'm gonna try the fix from the Fix an unflashable or softbricked GSII thread. Would you think that would work? I don't want to get rooted now because all of the problems it gave to me.
Silly boy. I used superoneclickroot to root mine, very easy. Or use cf root again very easy, word of advice tho- you wont get much help on here if you got a guide/root/rom from some other website. EVERYTHING you need can be found at xda. We have some of the top android devs in the world right here!!!

have you tried flashing any ROM from download mod through ODIN....
Could I re-root again with Superoneclickroot? This is an unbootable phone by the way. Though yes, I could still go to downloading mode and recovery mode.
I'm new to the Android rooting and crap. I've been used to iOS, Mac and Windows customization so everything is really hard and my mind is basically all nooby on Android.
@zaheedahmed - I'll go to factory Android ROM at this moment of time until I could resort all of the issues I have.
If you don't want to root, then go back to stock. Search this thread, if you can't find the stock rom you need there search this thread. Follow the guide in the 2nd one to flash the firmware. If the download links are dead, make a note of the firmware you want (even better if you know what firmware you have now/the firmware which came with the phone) and search Samfirmware.com for it. Follow whatever instructions they have for flashing firmware downloaded from their site.
That will give a you a 'clean slate'/back on stock.

A few questions before rooting

I want to root my galaxy s2 badly but i got a few questions before i do that
1. My phone is still under warrenty, so is it good idea to root ?
2. Link me to the most stable ICS roms for galaxy s2.
3. Tutorial to root galaxy s2 running android 2.3.6 gingerbread (I.E : Running the most recent kies update).
Thank you very much
1. If you need to invoke the warranty, you un-root and reset flash counter. No problems there.
2. I use D4 rom (link in sig) - it's pretty amazing. Otherwise just search, flash, and find your favorite.
3. Flash a CF-root kernel. Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784

Thanks for the response and btw is that D4 rom a stable release?
Yes it is stable (based on CM9 - vanilla pure Android), with updates every few days or so. The dev is very responsive and quick to fix any bugs.

Thanks to you sir i have bricked my phone. The only access i have now is my damn download mode and lost access to recovery mode. What should i do now
If you can get into download mode your phone isn't bricked. How bout you take responsibility for your own actions ?
If you'd read the CFRoot thread completely & understood the bit that says (in bold red type ) "Help ! Which file do I use ?", you wouldn't be in the situation you're in.
Now, be a good lad, go back to the CFRoot thread, and read it. The whole first page. If you can manage that, you should be able to fix your phone fairly quickly.
(all this assumes you have an I9100/I9100T, of course)

Help - installed ICS GT i9100 on i777

Please Help. I flashed this Ice cream sandwich file "I9100XXLPB_I9100OXXLP5_OXX" on my galaxy s2 i777 and now i cant go back to stock. I get a frozen boot screen with the gt-i9100 logo. The only time I can get the phone to turn on is when I reflash the i9100 ics with odin. I dont want that because the back and search buttons dont work and internet data is not working. I just want to go back to the icsrewd that I had or foxhound. Please help. Thank you.
P.s. I also tried this, but didnt work "[Heimdall][Odin][Stock][Root]UCKH7/KK6 Return/Unbrick to Stock (or Root)"
Why not flash back to what was working, as you stated you can, and then from there, clear/wipe etc., and flash what you do want?

It wont let me flash anything that has to do with i777, not even the rom i had before.
If you can get into download mode you can flash back to stock. Just do everything you did when you flash the 1900 but use the stock one found in the development board and you should be fine

Tried to return to stock. It finishes download and reboots phone, but then the screen freezes at the galaxy s2 logo. I have to re-enter download mode to get off that screen. The phone never boots up after that. I need a link to a .tar file for a rom so I can flash through odin.

Flash back to stock first. You need to flash everything for the I777 that is in the i9100 package that caused the problem. Use an archive program to open the i9100 tar and look at the contents. It probably includes boot.bin, sbl.bin, and param.lfs. None of the stock I777 packages that you tried to flash have those. In that case, flash the I777UCKH7-CL503881 Stock Binaries from the Download Repository, which contains those files.
What Creepy said is accurate. The reason yer messed up is you flashed i9100 bootloaders most likely.

Ok this is not being mean or rude, but if you dont know the meaning of these basic terms then you need to stop what your doing and spend some time doing your homework. Will you be with out a phone for a few hours? Yes but this is the price you pay for doing something before you understand what your doing. So please before you do something that cant be fixed. Do the research.

[Q] Unrooting/going back to XXELLA

Hi there. First off all, i AM familiar with the process of rooting. I have rooted a few phones before(not recently). This is not what i need help with.
However, i have never unrooted a device/gone back to stock firmware.
I am currently thinking about rooting my SGS3. But at some time, i am going to sell the phone to someone else. And they would probably want a "new"/fresh phone with stock firmware.
Therefore what i need help with is how to unroot my S3.
As far as i understand. This is done by flashing the device and put the firmware (XXELLA) on it.
But if i already have rooted my device, and i do as mentioned above, will this work as an unroot?
If i do this, will the phone be as it currently is(before rooting)? Or will there be small changes or flaws/differences from the current firmware?
The firmware i have found and wich is corresponding with my currently firmware is:
I9300XXELL1_I9300AMNELL1_AMN
(could not post link since i do not have enough posts yet)
Does anyone know if this would be the same firmware wich is currently on my device?
I may have misunderstood parts of the process, so please have me excused for this.
Thanks in advance.
See the attached picture for device information.
ELL1 is not the same as ELLA. it will unroot, yes

I understand.
I forgot to say that when i unpack what i download i get:
KIES_HOME_I9300XXELLA_I9300OXAELLA_742798_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
So i guess this is the XXELLA firmware.
I have also checked out several guides for updating with this firmware, and every guide links to this file.
yes, it's the same
Moved to proper forum.
You will also want to remove the flash counter, using Triangle Away.
Alternatively, you can follow this thread here
This way, the one you are selling your phone to will have the warranty in place
