So I have gone from stock 4.2.2 to stock 4.1.2 flashing with Odin. Got stuck in a boot loop so had to go to android recovery and factory reset. Then I tried using titanium backup to restore my apps but that didn't work fully and it got stuck in a boot loop on the reboot. Factory reset again and seems to be working fine now. Phone is rooted using Kingo Android Root and used Titanium Backup again for just one app and it worked fine.
Installed BusyBox and GalaxSim Unlock to unlock the phone and an error message saying that it's unable to read nv data shows up. Restored an efs backup and that did nothing. Also tried using the 8#197 code to no avail. Got that the menu didn't exist and command is 186 after a few clicks.
Any advice? Flash it again?

Sim unlock. Most of that was just background info. GalaxSim Unlock gives me an "Unable to read NV data" message. So the sim card isn't being read. Just gives me emergency calls.

Hi,
I suppose your rom is too recent (baseband MG4 or higher). Samsung changed the EFS format on recent roms. As of now, GalaxSim Unlock is not able to read it. I'm working on it.

I see. Already sent it to phone repair to see what can be done. If that doesn't work I guess I'll go back to Ice Cream Sandwich and see if it can be read then.
Needed some rewriting of info in the phone but fixed for the most past anyway. Oh well.

This flashing stock, did you do it through CWM or ODIN? If you have not tried ODIN yet I would go that route, could just be you need a stock modem.

i am such a tard.. i havent backed up the efs... i did so now after the mess ... i believe there must be someone with tips and a small hope, btw restoring efs make no difference at all, as dont have correct files.
The EFS is fine if you have IMEI, if you have only flashed each ROM once through ODIN you have hope. Try an ODIN flash again. Can you get to recovery to do full wipe first?
Try EFS Pro Here and download to your PC then run it. You will probably need to use your own wireless to get Busybox (free on Play Store) and run it on your phone - if the phone will not go to wireless, DL the files to your PC then copy BB over to the phone in Windows Explorer and run it on the phone.
Then run EFS Pro on your PC (with phone connected by USB, but it will prompt you) and there are a couple of options there to try to see if you can recover things. (NV Recovery and Repair NV Data) - I think the NV Recovery uses info on the phone (.bak file) while repair tries to rebuild the info.
Good luck. Maybe read through the thread first or contact the thread OP if you have questions about EFS Pro processes...

I don't think this will help with the Serial issue, but maybe for the service all you need is the APN/Service info from Vodaphone? Go to [Settings] [More Settings] [Mobile Networks] and check both Access Point Names and Network Operators.
I flashed a ROM and found I had problems so I went to a Telstra page, entered my phone number and it sent me a text with a security code - when I entered that it sent me an install that connected all my services again. Maybe Voda has similar? Or even just a page with APN info?

guys help me out... i am stucked ... any tips? i am willing to try "almost" everything to make it work.
Beyond what I know so far, sorry. If it was me I'd be making sure I have back-ups of everything I can think of (Data, System, Nandroid, EFS) then I would start from clean phone - wipe everything in recovery, factory reset etc. then load as close as possible to the original Stock for the phone. If that doesn't do it, with official stock and counters etc. I'd go to vendor and ask what gives. I'd start with the service provider and if they can't help, phone vendor, then failing that, Samsung.
Maybe some of the more experienced here can assist otherwise...

Sadly no . I am new to all this flashing custom roms thing, and I didn't do that. A friend told me afterwards that I should have.
To be fair, if you read up on everything before flashing. You would have made a backup. I was a noob once too but I backed up my efs!

Hi thanks,
I went completely back to stock and tried a t-mobile (uk) sim and after going through manual network selection I have got that to work.
The only problem is that I am not on t-mobile but im on the three network. I tried a three sim and the phone loads up but again no signal.
When i bought the phone it was meant to be locked but when i put the three sim in it does not ask for an unlock code?

I don't know how to, so I don't want to give you bad info. I just did a quick search for you (type efs restore manual in search) and found a few threads for other devices. You can ask if they will work with your device.. Sorry I'm not more help. Good luck though

Flash a stock firmware with root permission.see the dev section.
Or just flash a custom roms and try helroz tool.
Lastly.use Galaxsim unlock tool found on playstore.it perfectly work for my docomo s2 (sc-02c).

Just tried the above. The galaxsim unlock tool said my phone was already unlocked but not other network is working on my phone. When i put a non t-mobile sim in my phone it just says emergency calls only. I dont even get a pop up asking for a sim unlock code. Also when i try the code *#7465625# nothing shows up so i cant check if the phone is locked.
please help if anyone has a similar problem
Hi,
I am a NOOB.
I have a GT P3100 with no baseband and IMEI,
I lost EFS folder trying to flash slimkat and dont have a backup.
Is there a way to repair it without a box??
Thanks in Advance.
First thing to try is just re-installing the stock firmware via Odin. Just because it is not displaying or working does not necessarily mean it's lost for good. If the official restore doesn't work, then you might be need the box.
Thanks

It's common to need to factory reset after a stock firmware install through Odin.

Same here (Think we done the same thing with the Marshmallow 6.0.1 leak) I backed up, but the new version of TWRP I have has EFS as a separate option, I never even noticed and never backed it up.
However I Flash with smartswitch, and after reflashing the bootloader with odin and a Root Kernel, I can boot into the device and using root explorer, I CAN see my EFS folder. I deleted the .nv_data.bin files and changed the .nv_data.bak to .nv_data.bin (was an older date) and I now have the network options back but a generic IMEI and can't register on a network.
I feel SO close to getting it up and running, but if smartswitch can't help, not fully anyway, I'm not 100% I can be rescued either.

I got 3 old smartswitch backup and i find a file with the imei and everything , do you think its possible to backup this files ?
You CAN recover your phone with smartswitch, there is an emergency recovery function with a IMEI and SN input option, some users who used the same threat (android 6.0.1) and has lost their efs partition reported that smartswitch worked.
I've done this procedure too for some weeks to recover my phone an everything is working fine.
possibly with root explorer
