[Q] What is the most stable rom for Xperia P? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

The title says pretty much everything, I was wondering is the stock 4.1.2 good enough for everyday use, I need everything working, and a good battery performance. Would you suggest a custom rom or a kernel (locked bootloader preferably) for the xperia P?

It depends on your taste. Enigma, moonwalker, moonbreaker, are all excellent stock based roms; perfect for daily use.
If you wanna go for more customization you can go for cm10/10.1/10.2, and other aosp, pac roms available. They are pretty much stable for daily use, i don't know about battery life though.
Try some of the available roms, and choose one. I cannot recommend one as all roms here are excellent.
Hope i helped.

Root and CWM of course.
I don't like the white phonebook calendar and messaging so I use dark mods
CrossBreeder do remove ads and maybe a little performance, S98screen_scaling script from ThunderBolt, and Greenify, for power saving.
STAMINA mode, exluding apps like Facebook, Viber and Yahoo Messanger.

[Suggestion] Developing a super smooth ICS ROM for our precious xperia Ray

Hey, guys. I've just tried the ROM by Championswimmer.
AOKP, this is the thread :
HTML:

and it is so damn f***in smooth!!
instead of tweaking sony based ICS ROM which is super laggy, I suggest to develop ROM by championswimmer
I'm sorry if there are inappropriate words that may offend..
I ain't no developer, and it is just a suggestion. thanks.

Official ICS is not so laggy after few optimization, and, very important thing is FULLY FUNCTIONAL.

When did "smoothness" become meaningful?
It's such a stupid, dumb measure.
Namely:
a) What does it even MEAN?
b) How do you measure it?
A good ROM should be functional, stable and do everything you want.
If you really measure a ROM by how quickly you can swipe your launcher screen, well, delete every .apk from your phone and have THE SMOOTHEST ROM ever.
I agree,I would rather use smooth rom than full working and laggy
P.S just check fps score with fps2d app you will see how bad it is

FYI, Smoothness is not just on how quickly I swipe my launcher screen, but it is how quickly the app responds too. When I'm using twitter for android on ICS based custom ROM for example. It is very laggy and it's bugging me. So I rolled back to GB.

Indeed very functional. I agree on that point, but when I used apps like twitter or angry birds, it is not as smooth as GB. In my opinion, performance & functionality is at the same level. Not functional first and then performance second or vice versa,

Yeah. I have, and still don't like it (Stripped ICS ROM, I mean).
Can't have the best of two worlds (and suck the reality?).. I think I disagree with you. I'm using GB ROM (Stock-based: kernel/rom Repack by 4pda.ru team) which is its performance and functionality perfectly suits me at present. So, maybe I'll just have to wait a little longer, I guess. LOL

Here's my first try, probably my only one.

Suggestion: Make a version for locked bootloaders please.
Stock Is Smooth
There's no need for your suggestion, the Stock ICS 4.0.4 is smooth on mine.
Try flashing an official ICS[Untouched] then flash JJ's Official 4.0.4 ROM[Rooted and busy box installed], then Use sirkays kernel, and you shall have a long lasting and powerful XRay...
Anyway, the only thing that I am concerned on the official ICS is that the camera is still laggy-a-bit[but usable], the new Gallery doesn't use the Mobile Bravia Engine[but the old xperia gallery does], Graphics driver needs update[asphalt 6 graphics is somewhat messed up(I See red lines on the environment while playing).]

Please suggest me a ROM

I don't care if it's ICS/JB or GB but I need a fully working ROM (camera, phone etc.)
Please suggest, I have less then a week to choose.
Thanks.
Real ICS or ExMIUI are good ICS rom for me. Stable n battery consumption are good. Don't know for jelly bean as i never try it. Best GB was stock rooted GB.

Good ones, but I need to use my phone's camera more often now, which is the best? except stock
Don't know about MIUI but I'm using real ICS 4.1(think it is better than 5.1/5.2) and in my opinion is the best rom and the camera is good, there are the Xperia S camera app and the Panorama 3d app.
I don't know about the cam app. I flashed my phone many times with many roms n kernels, not see any difference, as the rom based on same base.
Maybe others know what rom with best camera.
I'm using Real ICS+MESA. It's stock based, but miles ahead from it.
Stock cam app utilises camera the best I think. Although you can use external apps like Lg Camera, which is pretty customisable.
Spartan ROM is also a very good ROM... but it's stock

[Q] Good Custom ROM for my Sony Xperia S?

I have been using KA ROM for a while. I am currently running KA ROM 12. I have always been a fan of his work but now I feel the need for change because KA ROM 13-16 have major battery issues. I find KA ROM 12 the most stable and battery preserving.
This is some things I look for. One is that the UI icons would be Sony default. I just like how Sony icons looks compared to Samsung Galaxy Nexus etc.
A ROM that is stable. No random stuttering. Decent battery life or even battery saving, this is because I know the Sony Xperia S is a powerful device but it would be even better if the battery performance matched up. Another is the battery percentage. I do not like Sony's battery icon but I do like the circular battery icons.
One of the ROM's I was considering: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827128
Why? Because I hear good things about it and because of the battery tweaks. It really has caught my attention. But on this ROM, is uses the Samsung Galaxy Nexus icons which I am not a big fan off. I know there isn't a lot of SXS developers atm but what I am asking from experience from other users, what "Sony Stock-Like ROM" is good. Battery life / performance, etc.
Ever tried stock rom? About battery percentage you can easily flash with cwm from theme.

Honestly, I have tried stock ROM's and I do love them. But there is only one issue I have with them and that's bloatware. Because I am just a user and not a developer, I wouldn't be sure which things I should un-install in Titanium Backup, etc.
You could try Dualcore 5.2. For me, the ROM is super smooth with no bloatware, battery often lasts about 23 hours with 3g always on. Flash it with nullvoid tweak and you are done
You could actually try some out for yourself.
I know it sounds like a crazy idea but the truth is, if you can't help yourself others won't help you.

[Q] AOSP vs Touchwiz

Hi all,
I keep reading but I don't seem to find a definite answer for this question. I read somewhere that because of i9300 processor (samsung didn't reveal the codes or sth) the performance and battery life on Custom ROM based on AOSP and CM is not as satisfactory as Stock or Touch-wiz based roms.
Is this true? I love to use CM but the battery indeed seems to drain faster. Any idea of when i9300 users might get to use solid AOSP or CM based ROMs?
Thanks mates!
I am curious about this too. It seems that AOSP ROMS will always be imperfect as long as the Exynos codes arent released.

I have messed around with a few ROMS (mainly sammy based one's) and using a SAMMY ROM with a new launcher is a strong base.
Why not start by finding a good sammy based ROM (i'm using Viking ROM although may switch to HyperLight) get a nice setup, then you can simply backup and mess with ASOP & CM yourself knowing you have a rock solid alternative to fall back on.
You can make up your own mind then ^^

Cm10 is rock stable and has better battery life than sammy. (For me) but camera has some problems. Just try it. You can always revert it to sammy

CM10 is still nightly build right? I tried some ROMs like slimbean and liquid smooth but the battery performance is significantly not as good as stock. Am i right?
Yes right...
The stock ROM gives awesome battery life...
I tried CM10 but it seems to drain battery faster...i mean not that faster...
On my galaxy sl i9003 you cant even imagine what actually battery drain is....
Life 7hrs and gone but on my S3 the battery is OK about a day or day and a half and still 34% left !!

Wah. A day and a half??? I can't even achieve it with stock rom. What kind of tweaks do you use?
I just rooted a while ago and have just been flashing ROM this and that. Have never tried custom kernels or mods.
Would love to hear some tweaks that will last me 1.5 days with CM10. haha. Share with me bro.
If you can tolerate the few minor issues/glitches here and there, nothing beats CM10.

okay. So i do not need any kernel and tweaks for excellent battery life is it?
tried so often cm9&cm10, lately slimbean.
was AOSP fan on my desire, but not on the s3 (yet)
none of them made me stick to AOSP for more than 1week...
too many "bugs" - minor things who annoyed me like: **** camera&video (unstable), battery life, calling bugs (low voice volume) etc
ive to admit that slimbean + siyah kernel beats everything, the battery life is rly nice (nearly liek sammy roms). siyah kernel helps alot concerning the battery life on AOSP!
still ive to use a sammy rom cuz of stability and reliability.
id look forward to a fully working AOSP rom, hopefully soon.

What good is a ROM that is stable (as in doesn't crash) but ISN'T fully functional (as in has issues w/ hardware) ?
I want a ROM that is both stable and fully functional, even if it isn't the benchmark champion.
For me, the stock ROMs offer the best of the 2 worlds: they are stable and functional.
Yeah, let the flame start, but I am yet to see an AOKP/AOSP/CM ROM that doesn't have a single issue with hardware.
So, stock ROMs for me are the winner.
I use NOVA Launcher Prime, BTW, but the TouchWiz that came with today's stock JB (France, XEF) is extremely fast and as customizable as Nova Launcher.

Is it worth to use CM on our S3?

Hey guys,
since i'm an owner of an S3 i tried a LOT of CM rom's.
There a lot i like, but sometimes it feels a bit like a "different" phone, e.g. some features are missing etc.
So, im thinking about to switch to an modded stock rom for a great performance and huge batterylife..
Or is CM the best way for performance and battery?
thanks guys.

Stock touchwiz roms generally have better battery performance, even with custom kernels in my opinion. Its all about how you want it to look, feel, perform and last but you cannot have 100% on all, so you have to mke sacrifices for the features that mean most to you. There is no "Best ROM"
Yeah i know that there's no "best ROM"
I'm currently not sure.. CM or a modified stock ROM, both have their advantages i know, but i feel that the CM rom's having a higher battery drain... but i dont know about the performance on stock i guess CM is a bit better on the performance?!
